I walked into the bedroom and stopped dead.

Sienna was packing a bag. Clothes, jeans, a hoodie were scattered across the bed, messy and rushed, like she had grabbed whatever her hands touched first. Her hands moved fast, too fast, and the small zipper kept catching under her fingers because she was shaking. For one second, my brain refused to accept what I was looking at. My chest went tight. Shock hit me so hard I couldn’t move. She was leaving. After I had just stood in front of the whole pack and chosen her, she was still trying to disappear.
I crossed the room in three steps and grabbed her wrist before she could zip the bag. Her skin was warm under my hand, but her whole arm jerked like I had scared her. The bag slipped against her hip.
“If you leave,” I said, voice low, “you don’t save me. You destroy me.”
She froze, bag still in her other hand. Her eyes were red from crying. Her cheeks were wet too, like she had wiped them again and again but the tears kept winning. She looked up at me, lips trembling, and it messed with my head because Sienna never looked this small.
“I thought… if I go, they’ll stop. The pack will calm down. You won’t have to fight them anymore.”
I stared at her. She really thought leaving would fix this. She really stood here, crying and packing, thinking she could cut herself out of my life like that would make me breathe easier. The idea made something twist in my gut until I almost felt sick.
“I don’t care what they say,” I told her. “You’re not going anywhere.”
She tried to pull her wrist free but I didn’t let go. Her fingers pushed against mine, weak at first, then harder. “Damien, they’re turning on you because of me. I heard them. They’re scared. They think I’m the reason everything is falling apart.”
I shook my head. My grip stayed firm, but I made sure I was not hurting her. “I’m not letting you run. Not this time.”
Before she could argue more, Linda knocked and stepped in. She stopped the second she saw us, her eyes going from Sienna’s bag to my hand around her wrist. “Alpha, the elders called an emergency council meeting. They said it’s urgent.”
I nodded once. My jaw was still tight, and I had to force my voice to stay calm. “We’re coming.”
Sienna looked at me, confused. “We?”
I kept her wrist in my hand. Her pulse was jumping under my thumb. “You’re coming with me. I’m not leaving you alone right now.”
She didn’t fight it. She just followed me out of the room, bag still half-packed on the bed. I could feel her trying to hold herself together beside me, but her shoulders were tense and her breathing kept catching. We walked to the council hall together. I kept her close, my hand on her lower back the whole way. Every servant we passed either looked away or stared too long. I just kept walking.
The room was full when we got there. All the elders were seated around the long table. Their faces were

serious, but I could smell their fear under all that fake control. I pulled out a chair for Sienna and sat her down beside me before taking my own seat. She tucked her hands into her lap, fingers twisting together.
Marcus, the oldest one, spoke first. “We need to discuss what happened earlier. Your announcement to the pack was… reckless.”
I stayed cold. My side was burning beneath my shirt, but I leaned back like nothing hurt. “I meant every word.”
Clara leaned forward. Her hands were folded on the table, but her knuckles were pale. “You told the entire pack you are choosing a human over them. Do you understand the danger you’ve put us all in?”
I kept my voice flat. “She is my Luna. That is not changing.”
Victor slammed his hand on the table. Sienna flinched beside me, and my fingers curled against my thigh. “Then we have no choice. We are calling for a vote of no confidence. If you cannot separate your personal feelings from your duty as Alpha, then perhaps another should take control temporarily.”
The room went quiet. Even the guards by the wall stopped moving. I felt Sienna’s hand slide under the table and grab mine. Her fingers were shaking, but she held on anyway, and that nearly broke through every bit of control I had left.
I looked at all of them, keeping my face blank. “Do what you have to do.”
Clara stood up. Her chair scraped back loudly. “This is not a joke, Damien. The pack is already dividing. Warriors are refusing orders. Servants are whispering. If you keep this up, we will lose everything.”
I didn’t blink. The blood under my shirt felt warm now, sliding slowly against my skin, but I kept my shoulders straight. “Then lose it.”
Sienna’s grip on my hand tightened. I could feel her staring at my side. The wound from earlier was burning worse now. Every breath pulled at it, and my teeth pressed together until my jaw ached. I could feel the blood soaking through my shirt, but I didn’t move. If they saw weakness now, they would use it.
The meeting dragged on. They kept talking about loyalty and pack strength and how I was risking everything for one girl. One girl. Like Sienna was just some random mistake I had picked up instead of the woman carrying my pup. I stayed quiet, answering only when I had to. Sienna kept holding my hand under the table. her thumb rubbing slow circles on my skin like she was trying to calm me. She had no idea she was the only reason I had not flipped that table.
When it finally ended, I stood up. My vision went blurry for a second, and the room tilted in a way I hated. I grabbed the edge of the table to steady myself.
Sienna stood too, eyes wide. “Damien?”
I took one step and my legs gave out. I collapsed to my knees right there in the hall. The pain in my side exploded so fast I could not even hide it. I pressed my hand to the wound and pulled it back. My fingers were covered in blood.
Sienna dropped down beside me. “Oh my god. Damien, your side,”
She pulled my shirt up. Black veins were spreading from the wound, dark and ugly, crawling across my skin

like poison.
Her eyes went wide with panic.
