Chapter 90 Family Logic
“You accidentally blew up her parents?” Wendy repeated it in disbelief.
Forted
How could he say something that absurd so calmly, and then casually ask if she wanted to adopt the child?
“Yes. The payout was very generous. Our employer is extremely wealthy.”
Raymond’s tone carried the sincerity of a wage slave speaking about a golden client. “I love rich people.”
Only rich people could afford to hire them.
If the world didn’t have rich people, how was it supposed to keep turning?
Wendy did not know what to say.
“Get lost. I’m not taking that kid.”
Raymond let out a soft laugh. “I thought you didn’t care about that kind of thing.
“So this type of child is a no?”
The video call ended with Wendy angrily hanging up.
“So Kaia definitely can’t be Thomas’s biological daughter. Her real parents were blown up by us ages ago.”
Raymond cut off her memory with a calm conclusion.
“Thomas has two children. I also pulled up the other one’s information.”
He switched the screen and brought up Lawrence’s file. “This kid seems to have serious psychological issues. He rarely leaves the house. Take a look.”
At first, Wendy didn’t care.
But the moment she saw the boy’s face, she bit her lip slightly and blurted out, “Oh my god.”
He wasn’t just similar to Maya.
He was practically identical.
The strange pull of blood relations revealed itself in a way that was almost violently clear.
In a dim room overseas, Raymond looked exhausted, still jet-lagged, his expression completely neutral.
“Now, next question, where did his biological daughter go?”
Yeah, where did she go?
Hard to guess, right?

Chapter 90 Family Logic
So hard to guess…
Wendy suddenly stood up. “I’m going to kill him!”
Finthen
“Calm down,” Raymond said evenly. “You know the rule. I asked you once before if you wanted to adopt that orphaned girl. You said no because her parents were people I killed.
“Whether Maya has feelings for him or not, Thomas cannot die by our hands.” His voice remained gentle, word by word.
Wendy quieted for a moment. “I know.”
She muttered, “I know that.”
She understood the logic perfectly, but that didn’t make it any less irritating.
In her mind, a biological father should’ve been as good as dead already.
He had been missing for years, and now he suddenly showed up? Her entire mood was ruined.
Meanwhile, dinner that night had been delivered by Alfred after Wendy spent the evening on calls.
After eating, Maya casually mentioned being followed earlier.
And immediately noticed Toby’s expression change.
Toby had always had questionable mental stability.
In school, everyone else was just background characters to him.
The only things he truly cared about were his family.
“Was it George’s people?” Toby muttered, eyes lowered in thought. “That psychopath probably doesn’t have time for this.”
Between dealing with the bounty he himself had placed and the endless assassins coming for him, George was likely too busy to bother.
Maya bit into her cherry mousse cake, then suddenly perked up at the name “George.”
“Is George coming home?” she asked vaguely.
“What kind of person is he? I almost never hear you talk about him.”
The two brothers gave completely different answers.
Alfred replied, “He’s a very cheerful, kind, and positive person who loves life.”
However, Toby said, “He’s a split-personality lunatic with severe skin hunger issues.”
The contrast was extreme.

Maya didn’t know who to believe.
In the end, she chose to trust her most reliable brother-Alfred.

Toby nearly exploded on the spot. He slumped over the table, glaring. “Why don’t you believe me? I’m your brother, too.”
Maya immediately mirrored him, leaning forward across the table. “But Alfred is my brother too! And he never lies!”
“So I lie, is that it? You’re biased against me, Maya.”
Toby looked even more irritated now.
Alfred tilted his head slightly, genuinely confused as to why everyone was suddenly lying face-down on the table.
Was this some kind of advanced social ritual?
Still, trying to fit in, he slowly leaned forward as well, even though he did not understand.
Now, all three of them were face down on the table, staring at each other. Maya eventually gave up on the strange behavior and sat back up first.
“Our family is kind of weird. Are the older brothers being exiled or something? We never hear from them. And you too, you barely come home.”
