Chapter 225 Motives
Fished
“There are so many people trying to partner with your company right now that we haven’t even been able to get in line. I was wondering if we could possibly cut in and talk first?”
“Ms. Xander, I assure you, if you’re willing to work with us, you won’t be disappointed. We can review the contract and then discuss specifics.”
He hadn’t expected to run into Tracy here, or he would have brought the contract. But this was fine. He could talk to her first. If he brought the contract to Sam on Monday, it should be much more effective, especially since his company was a major player in Northport.
Tracy smiled. “Mr. Zach is in charge of partnerships, but I can put in a good word and ask him to make an exception for you.”
She knew who was who. Felix had stepped in to help her multiple times now; she owed him one. So, both professionally and personally, it was a favor she was happy to grant. It was just a matter of passing on a
message.
Felix nodded, understanding. “Thank you, Ms. Xander.”
He had simply been too busy before to finalize the partnership with Vector. Otherwise, they would have signed long ago. It wouldn’t have come to this, with so much competition that he had to ask to cut in line.
As the banquet was winding down, a waiter approached Tracy. “Ms. Xander, Mr. Xander has asked you to oin him in the lounge. He says he has something to discuss with you.”
‘I understand,” Tracy replied.
Felix looked at her, concerned. “Why do they want to talk to you alone? You don’t think they’re planning to harm you, do you? Ms. Xander, I’m worried this is a trap. Do you want me to go with you?”
After everything that had happened, the Xander family wanting a private meeting with Tracy definitely didn’t bode well. He wasn’t at all comfortable with it. He’d heard enough about their methods to know they were a group of opportunistic, self-serving people.
Tracy waved him off. “It’s fine. I can handle them.”
She couldn’t speak freely with an outsider present anyway. It was time to put those self-righteous fools in heir place. Besides, the Xanders were desperate to keep her connection to them a secret. If they saw her walk in with Felix, there was no telling what vile things they might say.
When Tracy entered, everyone from the Xander family was there, except for her grandmother. As soon as Trevor saw her, he hurried over.
He tried to take her hand, but Tracy dodged him. He paused, embarrassed, before adopting a gentle tone.
“Tracy, you’ve suffered so much out there all these years. Faye and I were discussing… why don’t you move back home? It’s better than living outside. You can see your grandmother more often, and we can take proper care of you. I can also pay for you to go back to school for your Master’s. I heard you went to Cloud University. That’s wonderful.”

Chapter 225 Motives
Fringed
Looking at how thin she had become, he felt a pang of pity. This daughter was rebellious, but she was still his flesh and blood. It was impossible not to care.
Tracy snorted. “Are you trying to play the family card? If I’m not mistaken, there are conditions, right? I got first place, Mr. Waylon announced I’m a key partner, and suddenly you all see my value, so you want me back. I don’t owe the Xander family anything. My mother raised me. You had nothing to do with it. What makes you think I would ever come back?”
She knew exactly what he was doing. He’d play the family card, then follow it up with moral blackmail.
At this, Faye stepped forward, speaking softly. “Tracy, your father really does love you. Please don’t say things like that. You’ll break his heart.”
Tracy looked at Faye’s hypocritical act and sneered. “When did I ask you to speak? Was I talking to you? You just had to jump in. Every time I come home, it’s the same old lines. Can’t you come up with something new? You may not be sick of saying it, but I’m sick of hearing it.
‘And you two,” she said, glaring at Chase and Yvonne, “I haven’t even settled the score with you yet. You have the nerve to show your faces? Or do you just enjoy getting beaten?”
They were trying to use guilt on her again, but she had no emotional attachment to them. Their moral blackmail wouldn’t work.
Yvonne’s eyes reddened. “I didn’t mean to frame you. I was misled, too! I’m sorry. I apologize. It was all my fault. Don’t blame Chase. You two are biological siblings, after all! You can yell at me, you can hit me, whatever it takes for you to feel better. I’ll do anything. But you shouldn’t have directed the media storm at Chase.”
Her apology was sincere. Right now, she had no other choice.
