Tracy had reaching her limit. If these people wanted to insult her, that was one thing, but dragging Sam into their mess was a line they shouldn’t have crossed. Yvonne had been testing her patience for a long time, and tonight seemed like the perfect night to take her down a peg.
Yvonne’s face went pale, but before she could get a word out, Renee let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Sour grapes, Tracy? If you’re jealous of Yvonne, just say it. Who else would they give this contract to? You? Don’t make me laugh. Waylon wouldn’t look twice at someone like you. You can try all your little seduction tricks, but you’re still just a pathetic tag-along. Why don’t you do everyone a favor and get out? No one wants you here.”
Renee was getting worked up just thinking about everything Tracy had done. She couldn’t stand seeing Tracy act so superior when she was nothing but a nuisance.
Tracy’s expression went cold. She didn’t say a word; she just stepped forward and slapped Renee hard across the face.
“Whether I’m jealous of her or she’s jealous of me, you know the truth better than anyone,” Tracy said, her voice steady and dangerous.
Renee stumbled back, clutching her stinging cheek, her eyes wide with shock. “You hit me! Tracy, how dare you hit me?” She couldn’t believe Tracy would actually get physical in front of a crowd like this.
Yvonne sneered, stepping into the fray. “You’re really going to assault someone in public? Do you have any idea what the Gaunt family can do to your career? First you lock Renee away for a month, and now this? You’ve gone too far.”
Yvonne actually welcomed the drama. The more Tracy acted out, the more reasonable and composed Yvonne looked by comparison. This was exactly what she needed to solidify her place in the Xander family, making sure they saw Tracy as the unstable one.
Just then, Jared and Chase approached the group. Chase still had thick gauze wrapped around his head, and the look he gave Tracy was pure venom.
“You’re finally here,” Yvonne said, her voice dropping into a soft, sweet tone.
Jared glanced at Tracy, a brief flicker of regret crossing his face before he masked it. For the sake of the company, he had to keep his distance.
Chase didn’t have any such reservations. He lunged at Tracy, grabbing her by the collar. “Tracy, I never did anything to you! Why would you do this to me? Do you have any idea how close I came to dying in that hospital? How can you be this heartless?”
He’d been in a haze for days, but he remembered Yvonne visiting him every day, crying by his bed. Tracy hadn’t shown up once. She’d acted like she wanted him to rot.
Tracy shoved him back with enough force to make him stumble. “Have you lost your mind? Did that head injury wipe out your common sense along with your memory? I haven’t stepped foot in the Xander house since the day Grandma collapsed. If you don’t believe me, go check the cameras yourself and see who actually cracked your skull. Stop trying to pin your problems on me. Jared knows exactly what happened! Why don’t you ask him?”

It was pathetic. Chase was actually standing there playing the victim of a crime she didn’t commit.
Chase turned to his older brother, his voice shaking. “Jared, what is she talking about? Who did this to me? Yvonne told me she saw it happen, she said Tracy attacked me during an argument. But now Tracy says she wasn’t even there. Did you check the footage?”
ared hesitated, his eyes darting away. “Just calm down, Chase. I don’t know who hit you. The security ystem was wiped that night. There’s no footage. All we have to go on is what Yvonne told us.”
He was still siding with Yvonne, even with the truth staring him in the face. Tracy felt a wave of nausea. Her own brother was willing to frame her just to keep the peace with a fraud.
vonne looked like she was about to have a panic attack, but she quickly doubled down. “I’m telling the uth, Chase! You have to believe me. Don’t let her lies ruin everything we have. You know who I am! How ould you listen to her over your own sister?”
he had to keep Tracy buried. If Tracy gained any ground, Yvonne’s life was over. She couldn’t let that appen.
enee chimed in, backing her up. “Tracy’s an expert at manipulating people. Don’t let that face fool you. he’s a manipulative bitch, through and through.”
