34 Chapter 34 Life Changing Secret
Instead, I was standing here looking at Roxanne, knowing she was pregnant with my baby while Seraphina watched from across the room. 1
But Seraphina just stood there in complete silence. Her eyes met mine, and in that moment, I saw everything I needed to know. The guilt was written all over her face. She knew. She had known this whole time and said absolutely nothing.
“Why?” I asked Seraphina, my voice raw with pain. “Why didn’t you tell me? I know I hurt you, I know I made mistakes, but didn’t I deserve to know I was going to be a father?”
Roxanne’s mouth curved into something that might have been a smile, but her eyes stayed cold. “Really? You don’t remember our night together?” She paused, letting that sink in before delivering her next blow. “But I suppose Seraphina never mentioned our little conversation, did she?”
“I’m pregnant, Julian,” she had just announced. “The baby is yours.”
The reality was setting in now, cold and harsh. Roxanne was pregnant. Seraphina had known and said nothing. My entire world had just been turned upside down, and there was no going back.
The room started spinning. I turned back to Seraphina, my voice cracking with desperation. “Seraphina? Please tell me that’s not true. Tell me you didn’t know about this.” I needed her to say something, anything, to make this nightmare stop.
It felt like someone had reached into my chest and torn my heart out. The woman I loved more than life itself had been lying to me. She had let me believe everything was fine between us while hiding this enormous secret. The betrayal was worse than any physical pain I had ever experienced.
“What did you just say?” The question came out as barely a whisper. My throat felt like sandpaper. “Roxanne, tell me you’re not serious right now.”
“That’s impossible,” I said, shaking my head so hard it made me dizzy. “It can’t be true. There’s no way.” My hands were trembling and I couldn’t make them stop.
Everything stopped. The ground beneath my feet felt like it was crumbling away. Roxanne stood in front of me, her eyes blazing with something that looked like victory mixed with desperation.

34 Chapter 34 Life Changing Secret
My eyes snapped open and I stared at Roxanne in horror. The pregnancy was real. This wasn’t some elaborate lie or cruel trick. She was actually carrying a child. My child. The evidence was right there, impossible to deny.
“No way,” I said, my voice getting stronger as panic set in. “Seraphina doesn’t know anything about this. She would have told me if she did. She wouldn’t keep something this important from me.” Even as I said it, doubt was creeping in like poison.
The memory of that night came rushing back with brutal clarity. One moment of weakness, one terrible decision, and now everything was falling apart. I had wanted my first child to be with Seraphina. She was my mate, my everything, the only woman I had ever truly loved. We were supposed to build a life together, start a family together.
She took another step toward me, her posture rigid with determination. “You heard me correctly, Julian. You’re going to be a father.”
Those words hit me like a freight train. I couldn’t breathe. My eyes found Seraphina automatically. She was standing near the doorway, frozen like a statue. Her expression was unreadable, but something in her face made my chest tighten with dread.
Roxanne cleared her throat, drawing my attention back to her. “If you still don’t believe me, Julian, then listen carefully.” Her voice had gotten softer, almost gentle. “Use your senses. Listen to what’s happening in this room.”
“How could you?” I whispered, staring at Seraphina. My voice was barely audible, but the hurt came through loud and clear. “How could you keep this from me?”
My blood turned to ice. What conversation? I spun around to look at Seraphina, searching her face for confusion, for denial, for anything that would prove Roxanne was lying. My stomach dropped when I saw the truth written all over Seraphina’s features.
A third heartbeat. Tiny and rapid, but unmistakably there. Separate from both of ours.
Julian’s POV
The anger started building then, hot and fierce. Not just at Roxanne for showing up like this, but at Seraphina for keeping this secret. She had known what was coming and had let me walk into this ambush completely unprepared. She had watched me make plans for our future while hiding the fact that my past was about to destroy
everything.
Seraphina still didn’t answer. The silence stretched between us like a chasm I couldn’t

cross. Everything I thought I knew about our relationship, about trust, about love, was crumbling around me. This was supposed to be the woman who would stand by me through anything. Instead, she had chosen to keep me in the dark about the most important news of my life.
I didn’t understand what she meant at first, but something in her tone made me focus. I closed my eyes and concentrated, filtering out the noise in my head. My own heartbeat was thundering in my ears. Roxanne’s was faster, more excited. And then I heard something else. Something that made my knees weak.
Roxanne laughed, but there was no humor in it. “Oh, she knows, Julian. I made sure to tell her everything before we came here today.” Each word was like a dagger being twisted deeper. “I told her about the baby and exactly who the father is.”
The shock wasn’t just about the pregnancy announcement. It was the way she said it with such certainty, such finality. My brain kept trying to reject what I was hearing, searching for some way this could all be a mistake. But Roxanne’s unwavering stare told me this was no joke.
