.Chapter 11-2

Kane’s entire body was…glowing.

Not the simple thread I’d seen with Kellan, but an intricate web of interwoven magical energy that

coated his skin from head to toe. The threads pulsed with power, some silver, some dark purple,

some a sickly green that made me nauseous.

This wasn’t just residual magic from the poison. This was embedded in him, woven into his very

being. The complexity of it was overwhelming, layers upon layers of spells that had been building

for years.

“This magic isn’t from the beast,” I whispered to myself. “This is…his.”

I’d never seen anything like it. The magical threads wrapped around him were so dense that it looked like he was wearing armor made of pure energy. But it didn’t feel protective. It felt invasive, wrong, like parasites feeding off his life force.

My wolf whined uneasily in my mind. “Careful, Si.” she warned.

“Okay,” I said aloud, trying to calm my racing heart. “Let’s try this the way they taught me.”

I’d been trained to use my abilities defensively, to protect myself from magical attacks. But Irene had also taught me how to extend that protection to others in emergency situations, something my mother couldn’t really do. It didn’t require physical contact per se, but it was incredibly draining. Theoretically, I could disrupt magical effects on other people. I’d just never tried it on magic this

complex.

I closed my eyes again and imagined a thread of energy floating from my fingertips, reaching

toward him. The technique required absolute focus and complete trust in my abilities. I had to

visualize my null energy as a living thing, capable of seeking out and neutralizing foreign magic.

In my mind’s eye, I could see the silver thread of my power extending from my hand, moving slowly

toward the web of magic surrounding Kane. The two energies were complete opposites. My

power was empty space, an absence of magic, while his body was saturated with it.

I took a deep breath and lowered my hand until my fingertips just barely brushed the skin above his

heart.

The reaction was immediate and violent.

Power exploded through me, not my own energy but the magic that had been trapped in his body. It felt like being struck by lightning, every nerve ending in my body screaming as foreign magic flooded my system.

Chapter 11-2

Clam

I could see flashes of memories that weren’t mine: a woman with kind eyes reaching for a small boy, the same woman’s face going pale and lifeless, years of isolation and guilt and self-hatred. Pain so deep it felt like drowning, and underneath it all, a curse so vicious it took my breath away.

The magic fought against my null abilities, trying to maintain its hold on him. But my power was stronger, designed specifically for this. I pushed harder, imagining my energy spreading through his body like water, washing away the accumulated spells.

The curse resisted, clinging to him with hooks that had been embedded for years. I could feel its nature now. The magic was old, powerful, and twisted with malicious intent. But it wasn’t unbreakable.

I gritted my teeth and poured more of my energy into the connection, feeling the curse start to crack under the pressure. The magical threads around his body began to fray and dissolve, and I could sense his lycan healing finally starting to work properly.

The effort was taking everything I had. Sweat poured down my face as I fought to maintain the connection, to keep pushing my power through his system. My vision started to blur around the

edges, and I could taste blood in my mouth.

Almost there. Just a little more.

The curse gave one final, desperate surge of power, trying to reassert its hold. The backlash hit me

like a physical blow, and I felt my consciousness start to slip away

As my bare skin pressed more firmly against his chest, my world went completely black.
