Chapter 21-2

“I’m yours,” I gasped, trembling. “All yours, Kane.”

Our tongues danced together as he pounded into me, his pace picking up, hips snapping into mine with punishing force. I could feel him everywhere. Inside me, over me, under my skin, in my fucking

soul.

The pressure built between us, desperate and consuming. “I’m gonna come,” I warned, already

trembling. “Kane-”

“Do it,” he commanded, slamming into me again. “Come on, baby, let me feel it.”

And I did.

My body locked up, my cunt clenching hard around him as I came, a scream tearing from my throat as the pleasure tore me apart. My walls spasmed around him, dragging him deeper, and his rhythm

stuttered.

“Fuck-Simone-”

He thrust in deep, grinding against me as his c**k swelled at the base, locking us together. The knot stretched me wide, locking him inside, and he came with a growl that shook through both of us, his

release pulsing hot as he filled me.

My head dropped against his shoulder as I relaxed against him. His arms wrapped around me like he didn’t ever want to let go, and I closed my eyes, letting myself pretend, just for a moment, that I could stay in this place where nothing else existed but him and me and the way we fit, the sense of

rightness between us that only existed in these dreams.

This fantasy world my delusional mind had created to soothe the agony in my soul.

“I can’t let you go,” he whispered, pleading. “Don’t leave me. Don’t go-

But it was no use. I was already waking up.

The days passed and mixed together. I’d been depressed, terribly sad at the idea of Kane dying. and terribly guilty about being sad. He was my enemy. I could never forget that.

My parents and family tried to cheer her up, but it was useless. Though lately, I’d started using a blank mask over my sad expression to prevent them from getting too worried about me. I didn’t think they bought it, but at least they’d stopped hovering. Saul had given me the sickness tonic, and that had helped incredibly. My belly had just started to show, but it was unrecognizable to

anyone except me.

Only my parents and Saul knew about the pregnancy, and I wasn’t planning on changing that

anytime soon.

Three months had passed since Irene and Kenzi were imprisoned by the Aerith Kingdom. The beasts kept coming weekly, and reports from the other three packs on the mountain let us know they’d been going through the same attacks.

Today, though, was the day of the alphas meeting. They would finalize the last details and set a

date for when to start marching against Aerith.

I was with Saul in his clinic, helping him sort herbs and doing research on the black saliva and magic poison from the beasts, as we waited for the meeting to start.

“Any luck with that antidote?” I asked, grinding up some dried chamomile while he examined samples of the poison under his microscope.

“Getting closer,” he said without looking up. “The magical component is what’s making it so difficult. The poison was designed to resist traditional healing methods.”

“Yes, it was,” I muttered, thinking about what I’d learned during my time with Kane. “Someone’s been enhancing these creatures with magic.”

“Considerable power indeed,” Saul agreed grimly. “The level of spell work required for this kind of sustained enhancement… it would take a master-level witch. You didn’t meet any witches in your

time there, did you?”

shook my head, thinking about Kellan’s abilities. “Only Kellan, and he was part witch. Maybe he has someone in his council capable of doing this. If that is the case, I never crossed paths with

them.”

“Have you considered that your null abilities might be the key?” Saul asked, finally looking up from

his work. “If you could somehow infuse that neutralizing energy into a potion…”
