Chapter 38 3
love, they belong to me. Let me feel that p***y clench.”
That was all it took. My orgasm tore through me, my walls locking down around him as I cried out, legs shaking.
“I love you,” he whispered against my ear. “I love you so much it terrifies me.”
“I love you too,” I gasped as he followed me over the edge, his own climax triggering the knot that locked us together, ensuring we stayed connected in the most intimate way possible.
He didn’t speak for a moment. Just breathed. His hands never stopped moving, stroking my hips,
my thighs, my ribs, making sure I was okay.
Then he leaned in, pressing a kiss just beneath my eye.
“I’m so fucking happy,” he whispered afterward, his arms wrapped around me as we lay tangled in
the sheets.
I felt the same way. Completely content, completely in love, completely his. For the first time in months, everything felt right with the world.
“So am I,” I said softly, playing with the ring on my finger. “So am I”
I pulled him closer, burying my face in his neck, and felt everything inside me settle. “You’re never sleeping alone again,” he murmured. “Wherever you are, I’ll be right there next to you.”
As we lay there in our future bedroom, planning our nursery and our life together, I couldn’t help but think about how far we’d come. From enemies to lovers to mates to husband and wife, with a baby on the way and a kingdom to rebuild together.
It wasn’t going to be easy. There would be challenges ahead, political complications, and probably more people who wanted to hurt us. But we’d face it all together, as partners, as equals, as a
family.
And that made me feel stronger than I’d ever felt in my life.
“What are you thinking about?” Kane asked, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on my bare shoulder.
“Just… everything. How crazy this all is. How perfect it feels despite the chaos.”
“Are you having second thoughts?”
“Never,” I said firmly, turning to look into his eyes. “I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
He smiled and pulled me closer, and as I drifted off to sleep in my husband’s arms, I couldn’t
imagine anywhere else I’d rather be.
