I Replaced Him With a Rival Don 6

Chapter 6

Luca’s voice-breathless, furious-came riding in on sunlight and wind.

“Rebecca Get down from there.”

Marco ran to him like a drowning man grabbing a lifeline. “Luca. She walked the entire aisle with Costa. I couldn’t stop

her.”

He swallowed. “Thank God you watched the second video.

The second video. The one Marco had filmed from the side aisle.

Rebecca walking toward Costa. Offering him her hand.

Luca knew how much she hated Costa.

She should have chased him out.

But she didn’t. And the way she’d looked at him-

Luca had never seen her look at anyone like that.

The priest stood frozen, book still open.

I didn’t turn around.

“Please continue,” I said to him.

Silence rippled out. But Luca heard.

His face went gray.

‘Rebecca.”

He stormed up the aisle. “Have you lost your mind?”

His voice was low. But it shook.

“What are you doing? I’ve known you for ten years. I know your every move.”

“Do you know who he is? Princesses throw themselves at him. You think he’d actually want you?”

“You’re standing there holding Costa’s hand. What’s the message? You trying to make me jealous? Or just make a tool of

yourself?”

He laughed-a jagged, ugly sound.

“Don’t let him use you and toss you aside.”

He took a step closer.

His voice shifted back into that familiar register. The one I’d heard for ten years.

‘Come down. Let’s pretend this never happened. I’ll give you another wedding. A better one. You’ll still be Mrs. Vitale

He lifted his chin.

Waiting for me to fall into his arms.

The cathedral held its breath.

I turned to face him.

I’d loved him for ten years. Endured him for ten years. Crawled on my knees for him and never earned his respect.

I smiled.

Light. Simple. Like everything had just clicked into place.

I turned to Alessandro.

I rose on my toes, wrapped my arms around his neck, pulled him down-

And kissed him.

The second my lips met his, he went still. Just a heartbeat.

Then his hand slid to my waist and crushed me against him.

Like a starved animal that’d waited too long, finally claiming its prey

No control left. No calculation. Just hunger.

The cathedral gasped.

Old women covered their eyes.

The younger ones dropped their jaws.

Someone whispered it would cost extra.

“Rebecca.”

Luca’s voice cracked.

I ignored him.

Alessandro pulled back first. He was breathing hard.

His thumb brushed my lower lip. His voice came out wrecked.

“You started this.”

He paused. A slow smile spread across his face.

His eyes-those deep, unreadable eyes-were blazing now.

“I’m not letting you go.”

He glanced back over his shoulder at his men.

“Get Mr. Vitale out.”
