Chapter 24

Pictures of Victor slaughtering mechanical creatures circulated wildly in various group chats and social media, and there were even some videos. Every swing of the scythe, every perfectly-executed kill showcased his strength.

“Oh my gosh, this guy is amazing! Will he save us?” Some couldn’t help but admire him, their words brimming with a longing for life.

“Who has this guy’s contact info? I can offer him a lot of money to protect me,” others exclaimed.

However, some scoffed. “It’s the apocalypse. Money will be worth nothing soon. If he’s that strong, protecting the weak is his responsibility.”

That remark drew rebuttals. “Nonsense! How strong he is is his business. Why should he protect you? Is he your father?”

“How can you speak like that? Do you have no humanity left?”

Various disputes flared like wildfires in social media.

Some voices were full of pleading and hope, while others attempted to tempt Victor with money or bind him with moral shackles.

Yet, without exception, Victor’s appearance was like a refreshing breeze, instilling confidence in them.

If Victor could effortlessly slay those mechanical monsters, then surely they could too, since most people possessed mecha.

Terrence had returned to his mansion. He was currently holding his phone, looking at the screen with a disdainful.

smile.

Money always granted privileges, even now.

Although Victor had just wiped out about thirty of Terrence’s lackeys, he still had a large number of people and mecha at his disposal.

His family operated a mining company, meaning they had numerous vehicles.

Outside the Wilson family mansion, over a dozen ten-meter mecha were on patrol, guarding the premises.

“Those fools. They expect him to protect them? They’re out of their minds. If they meet him, they can consider themselves lucky if he doesn’t kill them.”

“Hey, come here. Did you get that Source Crystal?” Terrence shouted while scrolling through his phone.

Currently, Terrence had disengaged from his mecha. He was wearing a dull yellow mecha core around his neck.

The disengaged mecha was kept in the mecha core, As long as the core was on him, he could merge with his mecha anytime.

It was as though there was an enormous space in the core.

“Master Terrence, our people are still searching. There should be news soon,” said a man resembling a butler. He stood before Terrence, his demeanor towards him even more respectful than before the apocalypse.

Before the apocalypse, if he made Terrence unhappy, Terrence might just yell at him. After all, they lived in a lawful society.

But now that the apocalypse was upon them, human lives were trivial.

If he upset Terrence, he might lose his life.

“Tell them to hurry up. I don’t have much time.”

Terrence impatiently waved the butler away. Victor was like a dark cloud looming over his head. He had no idea when Victor would appear.

If Victor showed up before he got what Victor wanted, what would happen?

Terrence didn’t dare to think about it.

“Understood. I’ll urge them.”

Just as the butler was about to leave, Terrence suddenly said, “Wait… never mind, go on.”

Terrence sighed, frustrated.

He initially wanted to ask the butler to bring some women to him, but he then realized he simply wasn’t in the mood.

The butler left with a bow.

“Should I look into his background? But I only know a name. How do I investigate him?”

The internet hadn’t fully gone down yet, so it was still possible to look up some information.
