Roman’s P.O.V
+25 Bonus
The world cracked open beneath my feet. She was pregnant. A strangled sound clawed up my throat and I barely held back the bile rising in my mouth. My dead mate was carrying my child. And I didn’t know. I hadn’t protected her.
A shudder wracked through me. My fingers trembled as I latched onto Eric’s lapels, shaking him hard enough to snap his bones were he human. “Save her!” I rasped, voice barely human. “Please, I’ll give you anything you fucking want.”
Eric’s expression didn’t change. It remained cold and detached, barely fucking blinking. It was as if I were talking to a rock. How could he truly be her mate and be this nonchalant? Vampires truly were cold–hearted assholes.
Suddenly, with an almost bored slowness, Eric peeled my hands off his jacket lapels. “She’s been dead too long,” he said flatly.” There’s nothing I can do.”

Agory detonated in my chest and a sound I didn’t recognize ripped from my throat. Liga thrashed wildly in my psyche, howling his protest so loudly my skull ached. It had taken everything to convince him to help manipulate snow into falling in love with us. I knew Liga would never forgive me if his mate died.
My eyes moved to my mate. Snow was as still as death on the bed, her skin so pale it almost blended with the sheets. She looked like a doll, like some delicate, breakable thing that had never belonged in my brutal world. And now, she was slipping through
my fingers.
Something inside me snapped.
A vicious growl fore from me as I lunged forward, grabbing Eric by the throat and slamming him into the nearest wall hard enough to shake the entire chamber. “You must save her,” my voice was raw and guttural, barely humani.
Eirc let out a low, dangerous hiss and before I could blink, razor sharp fangs sank into my wrist.
Pain exploded through my veins and it felt like acid replaced the blood inside me. It burned so hot the skin around the bite mark actually seared and steamed. I stumbled back, snarling, clutching the wound as Eric stepped forward, wiping his mouth like my blood disgusted him.
“The only reason I didn’t tear out your throat,” His voice was silky, “is because of the peace treaty between our kingdoms.” his crimson gaze turned darker. “But you are overstepping your welcome in my home, Lycan.”
Frustration clawed at my chest and my claws dug into my scalp as I gripped my hair, half–shifting in rage. Liga’s pheromones filled the air and the vampire wrinkled his nose in distate.
I bared my teeth. “The more time we waste, the colder her body gets. I know you can save her. I won’t leave until you bring her back to life.”
The vampire looked at me for a long time before he sighed, rubbing his temples as though I was a particularly irritating child, ” You fucking bloodhounds,” he muttered, “Always problematic,” Then his gaze flickered to Snow, and something in his expression shifted. “You know the only way to bring her back to life is to turn her,”
My teeth ground together. I knew this was going to happen, but the reality was hard to stomach. As my body revolted against the idea, Liga roared through our link. If it’s the only way to keep her alive, we do it. Fuck our grievances with bloodsuckers.”
I clenched my jaw so tightly my teeth nearly cracked. Every part of me recoiled at the thought of my mate becoming one of them even though she would be hybrid. But what choice did I have?
Slowly, I turned back to Eric. my voice was grave as I replied. “Yes, I know. But you can do whatever it takes.”
A dark smile twisted the vamp’s lips and he opened his mouth to speak but as his lips moved, it was a cynical female voice that

cut through the room.
“Whatever what takes?”
1 turned my head to see a woman in a blood–red dress float into the camber, her beauty so unnatural it felt a bit uncomfortable to look at her face. She was paler than Eric, with high cheekbones, scarlet lips and silver hair cascading in perfect waves down
her back.
She was a vamp alright but something about her face tugged at my memory. And then, she turned her piercing red eyes on me
and it hit.
That was the vampire queen. Eric’s lifelong partner.
“Your majesty,” She greeted me and then moved past me without another glance, floating in the air toward Eric. when she reached him, she took his hand and lightly nicked the inside of his palm. “Darling.”
“What are the hounds doing in Taldain?” she murmured in a voice dripping with amusement, her eyes blinking lazily. Her cold gaze flicked toward the bed. “And who is the dead girl?”
Eric and I spoke at the same time, “My mate.”
Silence rang through the chamber. My wolf rose in a possessive snarl while Eric simply hissed, fangs flashing. I snapped. “And she’s not dead.”
The queen arched a delicate brow. Then, to my growing fury, her lips curled into a wicked smile. “Ah. Interesting.” Her gaze slid to Eric. “Do you plan on keeping her?”
My stomach twisted in fury. Truly when Eric insisted Snow was also his mate and said it to his queen, I expected her to be angry. But her laconic smile was unnerving and then I remembered Vampires were very social and sexual creatures. They were good at sharing. The thought of Snow being taken away from me and used as their toy made my teeth grind. They would have to kill me to get to keep her and I knew the vamps wouldn’t dare to harm the Lycan king. They wouldn’t be able to handle the war that’ll
come after.
Shaking my head to get out of my thoughts, I saw the asshole, Eric purse his lips slightly as he stared at Snow’s lifeless body. Then slowly, he turned back to his queen.
And then the bastard smirked.
“Perhaps I’d be interested were she human or succubus.” he said, “But I’d rather have somehting else.”
A chill ghosted down my spine,
“What do you want?” I growled, all the hairs at the back of my neck standing on end.
The vampire turned to me and his eyes were gleaming. But his next words hit me harder than any physical blow.
“I will save our mate,” he said smoothly, “But in return, the child she carries will be mine. If I turn her, my blood mixes with the child and I essentially fathered it. Once she gives birth, the baby will be brought to me.”
