Chapter 137
It was really beginning to get to me. These sessions were often times when she would talk about her personal life. Her past with her family. Her mother. Her own ambitions for the future.
But, no. Her perpetual silence was cutting. It felt intentional, like I was being cut off from her life. A punishment I didn’t think was warranted.
I threw out my hand, which she confidently blocked, yet she refused to meet my gaze. My anger flared back to life.
“Alright, that’s it,” I said gruffly. “Something is going on with you, and it’s clearly distracting you. What is it?”
“Nothing,” she muttered.
Another wave of irritation struck me. “Bullshit,” I snarled. “You’ve been unnaturally quiet for nearly the whole day.”
“I’m shocked you would even notice something like that.’
My entire body froze. I glared down at her; my frustration growing. Without warning, I swung my right leg at the back of her knees, sweeping her off her feet and pinning her down to the mat on the floor.
For the first time since we arrived, Evelyn was actually looking at me. Her brief look of shock melted into burning vexation. With all of her strength, she tried her best to shove me off.
‘It wasn’t until she took the point of her knee to my side that she managed to get me to budge.
I shot her a scrutinizing stare. “You and Alexander looked awfully close before. What happened to sticking to the plan?” I questioned harshly.
Evelyn let out a long, deflated breath. “Alexander heard about what Bianca tried to do…”
“And?” I pressed impatiently.
“And, he wanted to see if I was alright.”
I raised a brow with heavy skepticism. “I could tell he wanted to do a lot more than that,” I said bitterly,
“Oh, please,” she scoffed. “Not this again. For God’s sake, it was only a hug!”
“Fine then, why was he hugging you?”
“He was comforting me,”
“Why?” I prompted angrily.
“Because I needed it!” Evelyn shouted back.
The tension in the room had become unbreathable. Evelyn picked herself off from the mat. I expected her to at least make some kind of move at me. Yet, she let her limbs fall to her sides.
“We’re done for tonight,” she told me coolly. Without another word, she left.
‘Well, that certainly could have gone better,’ my wolf nagged.
I buried my face in my hands and groaned. “Goddamnit,”
What the hell happened?

‘I thought that would be obvious. Your jealousy screwed everything up. As usual.’
I sneered at myself and closed up the gym before heading back to the house. My nerves remained on edge while I showered and changed into a new pair of boxers. For what it was worth, I was pleased to see that Evelyn was willing to sleep in the same room.
However, her light was already turned off, and she was facing away from my side. Needless to say, things were still tense between us.
The following morning, I woke to find her side of the bed empty. I let out a muffled noise and held a hand to the side of my head. I wish I could say that I felt rested, but unfortunately, this issue with Evelyn left my mind scattered.
I skipped breakfast and opted for just black coffee. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Henri approaching me with a schooled expression on his face.
“Alpha,” he greeted. “Word is continuing to spread amongst the neighboring packs regarding the feral rogues. It’s becoming fruitless to play down the chaos.”
I gravely nodded. “Are they looking to call a meeting?”
“Nothing has been confirmed as of yet,” he said. I followed his surprised look over my shoulder to find Evelyn standing there.
“Evelyn?”
“We need to talk,” she announced.
