Wendy immediately pulled Mia into a tight hug. “Mimi~”
When Wendy was overjoyed or affectionate, she called her Mimi instead of Mia.
It felt closer.

Divorce meant Mia had let go.
But Wendy hadn’t.

“About the recent rumors, I’d like to clarify a few things,” Mia said calmly and clearly.
“First: as of today, I am no longer Mrs. Hale. We kept our marriage private for three years. Now we’re divorced. I’m leaving with nothing-not a penny from the Hale family. I’m announcing this publicly to stop future gossip.
“Second: Ethan wants me to apologize to Lina. Very well. I apologize.
“I apologize for using my medical skills to nearly cure Lina’s heart condition. I apologize for caring for her faithfully for three years, extending her life from just a few months to long enough to get pregnant. I apologize for switching to gynecology to watch over her for seven more months.
“I also apologize to everyone at Mercy Hospital. I’m sorry my personal issues brought trouble to this hospital. I’m truly sorry.
“All of this was my fault. From today on, if Lina has any medical problems, I will stay miles away. I won’t make the mistake of caring again.
“That’s all for my statement. Thank you.”
Her sharp, sarcastic words stunned the reporters.
Everyone was used to Mia’s gentle, innocent appearance.
