The Ashes of Vows Novel 16

16

Damon collapsed at the hospital that day and stayed unconscious for three whole days. The second he came to, his assistant broke

the news to him.

Since they’d hidden Sloane in the hospital to keep her from facing justice, he decided to turn their own scheme against them

He pulled some strings, got Sloane moved out of there, and secretly transferred her to this psych hospital. It was way out of the city, in the shittiest conditions imaginable.

“Mr. Blackwood, Miss Ashford will be given a double dose of medication today. The treatment method will be electroshock therapy…”

A doctor updated him on the day’s treatment plan.

Through the glass window, a nurse was placing a handful of white pills in front of Sloane. Her eyes instantly narrowed, and she shot a hateful glare at the man outside.

‘Damon, you really want me dead this badly?”

She screamed wildly, sweeping the white pills off the table and onto the floor.

She’d had enough!

She wasn’t sick, for crying out loud, but she had to take these psych meds every single day.

The brutal side effects were tormenting her body every single day. In less than a week, her hair was already falling out in clumps.

Growing up, she’d always been everyone’s pampered princess. She’d never known this kind of torture.

Sloane was at her absolute breaking point.

‘I won’t take them!

No electroshock!

Get out, all of you! Just get out!”

She lunged off the bed, but just then, the door to her room burst open. Damon stood there, his face a livid mask of rage, and lashed

>ut with a kick.

Agh!”

Sloane crumpled to the ground, clutching her stomach, a choked scream escaping her lips. “Damon, you’re really that heartless? What did I ever do wrong? I just loved you too much! I’ve been in love with you for over a decade! How could you treat me like

his?”

When Damon showed no reaction, a fresh wave of terror washed over her. She swallowed her pride, ignored everything else, and lesperately clutched at his leg.”Please, Damon,” she begged, “just let me go. I know I was wrong.

ust let me out of here, and I’ll do anything you want!”

At that moment, Damon slowly squatted down. He gripped Sloane’s chin, his strength so intense it felt like her jawbone might pop ‘ight out.

‘Not a chance in hell.

Unless…

You give me my life back!”

He snarled, “Sloane, the hospital officially has you down as a psych patient now. I’m just helping you. These daily treatments? They won’t stop today. Or tomorrow!

I want you to be tormented for your sins, every single day!”

With that, he let go of her chin and violently flung her onto the floor.

Fine, Damon. You just wait! The Ashford Clan will find me, and they won’t let you get away with this!”

Damon sneered. “Your Ashford Clan? They’re drowning in bad press right now, barely able to keep their own house in order. So what if they find you?

By then, I’ll still be the one to personally see you-locked up.”

Just then, a few nurses stormed in and pinned Sloane down. They pried open her mouth and forced colorful pills, one by one, down her throat.

Sloane thrashed wildly, but soon, the excruciating pain from the electric shock felt like it was piercing right through her heart.

It was a treatment meant to be done under full anesthesia. Instead, she had to go through it completely conscious.

Damon listened numbly to the woman’s screams.

Then his phone buzzed.”Mr. Blackwood, we just found a ring in the cracks of the yacht deck…”

In that instant, Damon’s face went white, his voice trembling. “Hold on, I’m on my way!”

Three days later, I was in the Maybach parked right in the villa’s driveway, my white cane clutched in my hand.

This was my first time leaving the house since… well, since everything blew up.

‘Mr. Hart,” I said, a little hesitantly.”Honestly, I can totally go by myself.”

I felt a knot in my stomach.

Today was my mom’s birthday, and predictably, I’d be leaving Veridia City soon. I figured I’d never get another chance to visit that beach again.

So, I wanted one last look at the ocean.

But I had no idea that decision would lead to a whole string of completely unexpected troubles….

After three years of marriage, Wennie Brown finds herself unable to capture the heart of Flynn Duncan. When his first love resurfaces, all Wennie receives is a divorce paper. Desperate to salvage their relationship, she poses a heartfelt question, “If …
