He didn’t fully believe her.
After all, Maya barely had any friends besides Jenny. Where would she even meet another boy?

Annie added, “I wanted her to tell a teacher, but I don’t think it would help.”
Teachers could manage students-but they had no power over outsiders.
Toby didn’t respond. He moved quickly to Maya’s classroom. At the door, he grabbed a random student and gave a cold order. “Keep an eye on Maya. Watch where she goes during breaks.

The boy looked at Toby’s face and almost started crying.
Toby softened his tone slightly. “You know who I am, right?”
