Marina had only messaged him at noon to ask about Elnora’s condition and showed up in Port City that very afternoon. He had more or less figured out the reason behind it.

She opened their chat, intending to screenshot the message to show Daron, but realized it didn’t go through. There was a red exclamation mark next to it.
Marina pursed her lips, her voice tinged with embarrassment. “Sorry, the message didn’t go through. The plane just took off, so the signal was probably weak,” she said.
Frowning, Daron asked in a grave tone, “The plane took off? Where are you now?”
Marina bit her lip and replied calmly, “I’m in Port City. I haven’t seen my sister in a long time, so I came to visit her.”
Daron fell silent. He suddenly remembered Marina’s hesitant look in his office at noon, as if she wanted to say something but held back. He instantly felt annoyed.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” he asked.
She replied calmly, “It’s not a big deal. You were in a discussion, so I figured a text would be just fine.”
Daron fell silent and then said, “What important discussion could I have with them?”
Hayley just dropped by today to talk about Zara joining the company once her cast is off. Since Zara was still unfamiliar with the company environment, she wanted to intern as Daron’s assistant and had come to ask him about it.
Working as an assistant in the CEO’s office would indeed help her adapt to the company faster. However, since Zara would work in the project department in the future, it made more sense for her to intern there. He thus disagreed with Hayley’s suggestion.
