Chapter 550

Back at the residence, the driver walked over and opened the car door.

Albert was the first to step out of the car, bending down as he did.

After getting out, he stopped beside the car and reached out his hand to Elnora.

Elnora glanced at his hand with indifference, then calmly placed her hand in his, bending down to step out of the car.

Throughout the whole process, Elnora’s face stayed unruffled, with no hint of joy or excitement.

Albert lowered his gaze to her hand.

It was different from what he expected.

Unlike her icy demeanor, Elnora’s hand was surprisingly warm and soft. Albert couldn’t help but notice.

As soon as she got out of the car, she quickly pulled her hand back from his palm.

Throughout the whole process, she treated him like he was just an event greeter, nothing more than someone hired to help out.

As the soft warmth of her hand slipped away from his palm, a flicker of disappointment flashed in Albert’s

eyes.

“Ms. Finley, have you ever dated anyone before?” he spoke quietly.

Elnora shot back, “Isn’t that something you already know, Mr. Campbell?”

Her breakup with Zack hadn’t caused much of a stir in their social circle, but Albert knew all the details.

After hearing Elnora’s reply, Albert realized he’d just put his foot in his mouth.

He quickly corrected himself, smiling at her.

“What I meant was, Ms. Finley, you just don’t seem like someone who’s ever been in a relationship,” he said.

She didn’t even bat an eye at his attempt to get close.

Elnora replied, “That’s a pity, Mr. Campbell. You never got to see what I’m like when I’m in love. But I’ve seen plenty of your romantic side in the Port City tabloids.”

“So, Mr. Campbell, are you really trying to have a conversation about dating with me?” Elnora asked, her tone cool and distant.

Albert fell silent.

Seeing his lack of response, Elnora strode past him and, once inside, headed straight for the study.

Albert sat on the sofa in the living room, keeping an eye on the study every so often.

Maybe he was watching her a bit too intently.

When Albert cast another glance toward the study, Elnora had already gotten up and walked over to shut the door, clearly signaling she didn’t want to be disturbed.

Meanwhile, a message popped up in the guys’ group chat.

Kaelin: [Albert, wanna come out and play some pool?]

Albert glanced at the closed study door, and his mood instantly soured.

[No time.] He sent a quick two-word reply.

Kaelin: [With Ms. Finley?]

Albert didn’t reply.

Kaelin: [Bring Ms. Finley along!]

But as soon as he sent it, Benson quickly deleted the message:

‘What would we even do if Ms. Finley tagged along?’ Kaelin wondered.

But Albert caught the message and replied right away.

[I’ll ask her.]

Kaelin: [Man, you really do have eagle eyes. I deleted it, and you still caught it.]

Albert didn’t reply. He got up and walked toward the study.

He raised his hand and knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Elnora said.

Albert pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing Elnora sitting at her desk, he said, “It’s already after work, and you’re still grinding away. Ms. Finley, you’re making me feel guilty.”

Elnora replied, “Is there something you need, Mr. Campbell?”

Albert pulled out the chair across from her and sat down.

“Kaelin wants me to take you out to join us for some entertainment,” he said.

Elnora didn’t turn him down right away.

Seeing her hesitate, Albert said in a calm tone, “If you don’t want to go, you really don’t have to. No need to force yourself.”

After a brief pause, Elnora nodded.

“Sure,” she said.

“Since Kaelin and the others helped us out so much at our wedding, it’s only right we treat them to a meal,” she added.

“I’ll leave the arrangements to you, Mr. Campbell,” Elnora said.

Albert met her gaze and smiled.

“You’re always so thoughtful, Ms. Finley. I’ll round everyone up for dinner, and we can play some pool afterwards,” he said.

Elnora nodded and closed the file she was holding.

Albert opened the group chat and @ed everyone.

[Ms. Finley says thanks for all your hard work at the wedding yesterday. She wants to treat you guys to dinner. No need to wait, let’s do it tonight!]

Kaelin was the first to respond. [Sounds good!]

Benedict: [Got it.]

The others quickly chimed in as well.

Albert quickly shared the restaurant address in the group chat, then told Elnora.

“It’s all set,” he said.

Elnora nodded and got up from her chair.,

Since they were hosting, Albert and Elnora set out for the restaurant ahead of everyone else.

Maybe Port City really was just too small, or maybe it was just fate that kept bringing them together.

As Elnora and Albert walked into the restaurant, they spotted Stella sitting in a wheelchair, smiling brightly as she talked with her friend who was standing next to her.

Stella seemed to sense their presence and turned her head toward the entrance, her eyes landing on Albert and Elnora.

Stella froze for a moment, and the joy on her face instantly turned bittersweet.

Her friend noticed and turned to see Elnora and Albert standing there.

The news of Elnora and Albert’s marriage was splashed across the entertainment headlines in Port City,

And earlier that morning, the story of Albert leaving Elnora at the wedding because of Stella was trending at number one.

“Stella, don’t be sad,” her friend said softly.

“A marriage without love won’t last long,” she added.

Her friend could see how upset Stella was and tried to comfort her in a gentle voice.

Stella pursed her lips, forcing a faint smile, and spoke in a gentle voice.

“I know,” she said.

“I’m actually not very sad. I’ve already accepted reality,” she added.

Hearing that, her friend sighed softly.

Stella took a moment to pull herself together, forcing a smile as she spoke softly to her friend, “Lily, can you push me over? I need to go say hi.”

Lily hesitated, then leaned in and whispered, “Do you really have to? Why not just pretend you didn’t see them?”

Stella gave a helpless smile and said, “I’m still an entertainer under Starlight. How could I just ignore my boss and…the boss’s wife?”

Lily shot Stella a sympathetic look, then eventually pushed her toward Elnora and Albert.

“Albert, Ms. Finley, you two are here for dinner as well?” Stella greeted them, trying to sound cheerful.

As Stella was pushed forward, she took the initiative to speak. When she looked at Elnora, there was a clear hint of flattery in her eyes.

Albert nodded, shot her a glance, and said flatly, “Still out and about with your leg like that?”

Stella pressed her lips together and replied softly, “Lily just got back from overseas. We haven’t seen each other in ages, so we thought we’d catch up over dinner.”

As she spoke, she reached out and took Lily’s hand, smiling at Albert.

“Albert, do you remember Lily? She was our classmate back at the international school in high school,” Stella

said.

Albert’s voice was flat.

“I don’t recall,” he replied.

Lily’s smile stiffened for a moment, but she quickly forced a smile and joked, “That’s totally normal, Mr. Campbell. Back then, you only had eyes for Stella. People like me were pretty much invisible.”

Stella’s expression changed a bit. She quickly tugged Lily’s hand to stop her, then hurriedly explained to Elnora.

“Sorry, Ms. Finley. My friend just got back from abroad and hasn’t heard about you and Albert getting
