Chapter 617
Albert could clearly feel that he and Elnora were much closer now.
After dinner, Elnora didn’t immediately head upstairs.

Albert set down his fork, looked at Elnora, and asked softly, “Ms. Finley, would you like to take a walk with me in the garden?”
Elnora was silent for a few seconds, then finally nodded.
The two followed each other out of the house.
While Belinda was doing the dishes, she glanced out the window and spotted Albert and Elnora strolling together under the glow of the streetlights in the quiet night.
There was an unexpected harmony between them.
A smile tugged at Belinda’s lips.
Looks like these two are finally opening up to each other, Belinda thought.
Albert always had something to talk about, and it wasn’t often they got to enjoy such a laid-back chat together.
Even though Albert wished the night could last a bit longer, when he saw Elnora yawn, he knew it was time to wrap things up ind led her back into the house.
They went inside together and headed upstairs.
Albert watched as Elnora walked into her bedroom and said softly, “Goodnight.”
Elnora looked over her shoulder and replied, “Goodnight.”
Then, she walked into her bedroom.
Albert raised an eyebrow slightly as he watched Elnora’s rather unchanging expression.
Albert didn’t head back to his room until Elnora closed her bedroom door.
After washing up, he lay down in bed and finally picked up his phone to check it.
The group chat with his buddies was blowing up.
As soon as Albert posted the photo, Kaelin was the first to reply.
Kaelin: [Damn, you must be on cloud nine right now.]
Caelin: [Ms. Finley actually let you put your arm around her waist? You didn’t photoshop this, did you?
Benedict: (Albert wouldn’t bother with something that dumb.)
Kaelin: [Come on, last night at dinner, he didn’t even have the guts to put his arm around Ms. Finley.l
Eamon: [I don’t see any signs of photoshopping, but that grin is way too big, man.]

They kept chatting back and forth, and the messages quickly hit 99+.
Albert scrolled through all the messages, reading them one by one.
Just then. Benedict dropped a screenshot into the group chat.
Benedict: [Kaelin, you don’t trust Albert? You even posted it on your Instagram Story to ask your followers?]
Albert tapped on the screenshot to take a look.
It was the question Kaelin had posted on his Instagram Story.

The photo was one of him and Elnora at the equestrian shop, with the caption: [Anyone out there good at spotting Photoshop? Is this pic real or fake?]
There were a bunch of comments from their mutual friends in the screenshot.
[Damn, is that Albert and his new wife?]
[They’re such a good-looking couple. Seriously, they’re a feast for the eyes.]
[Albert’s always been a winner. I knew he’d make it big since we were kids.]
Albert’s cousin had also dropped a comment below.
[Hey, it’s me, your husband’s little buddy.]
After seeing the screenshot, Albert checked out Kaelin’s Instagram Story.
He replied to his cousin first.
[Get lost, you brat.]
Then he dropped a comment under the post.
[Just snapped it on the spot. Why would I bother with photoshopping? You single losers have no clue. No point trying to explain it to you.]
Kaelin cracked up when he saw the comment and fired back with a curse.
At the riding club, the next day.
By the time Albert and Elnora showed up, some people had arrived.
Wren had tons of friends, but since she figured Elnora might feel awkward, she only invited folks Elnora’d met before and who were pretty close with Albert.
As soon as Elnora stepped out of the car, Wren came over with a smile and hooked her arm.
“This outfit looks amazing on you. It is so much better than in the pictures,” Wren said.
Elnora looked a bit puzzled.
“Pictures?” she asked.

Wren nodded. “Yeah, Kaelin posted a photo of you and Albert on his Instagram Story yesterday, asking if it was photoshopped.
As she spoke. Wren pulled out her phone and opened Kaelin’s Instagram Story.
Then, Wren held out her phone for Elnora to see.

She said, “Take a look. Honestly, you’re so beautiful that it’s almost unreal, so Kaelin had to tease Mr. Campbell a bit.
Elnora took a quick look, then nodded and looked away.
When Albert got out of the car and saw Wren leading Elnora away, he felt a twinge of discomfort. But Kaelin and the others were already waving him over, so he called out a greeting to Elnora before heading their way.
‘Ms. Finley, I’m going over there. If you need anything, let me know. I’ll help you pick out a horse,” Albert said.
Elnora nodded.
Wren said offhandedly. “We’re heading over there, too.”
Albert, who had been walking ahead, stopped in his tracks for a second, obviously hoping to wait for Elnora.
But when he glanced back and saw Wren still had a firm grip on Elnora’s arm, he slowly walked forward.
Wren watched Albert’s movements and lightly said to Elnora, “I studied body language for a while. My gut tells me Mr. Campbell cares about you.”
Elnora didn’t reply, just kept quiet.
A trace of envy flashed in Wren’s eyes.
She lowered her voice, saying, “After the New Year, my parents are going to start setting me up with matches.
‘People in our circle seem unable to escape the fate of having their marriages arranged by their parents.
Ms. Finley, what was going through your mind before you married Mr. Campbell?”
Elnora paused for a moment, then answered softly. “Honestly, nothing special. If anything. I’d say I was grateful.”
Back then, Elnora’s health was pretty bad, but Reese valued her. Reese helped the Finley Group out of a tough spot and even brought in world-class specialists to treat Elnora’s illness.
During that time, Elnora felt like she’d hit the jackpot.
She was grateful to Reese and the Campbell family.
And she felt grateful to Albert as well.
Wren listened to Elnora and smiled.
She said, “That’s great. Love takes time to grow.
“You and Mr. Campbell are such a perfect match. Your life together is only going to get better and better.
“At least you’ll never have to deal with any mother-in-law drama.”

Elnora nodded gently.
Honestly, Elnora was pretty content with this marriage.
After all, not everyone was as lucky as she was.
She and Albert started with zero feelings for each other. There was no emotional foundation between them.
But honestly, what difference did it make if one started with feelings?
People’s hearts could change in an instant.
Zack courted Elnora for ages, but after just a year together, he ended up getting drawn to Mila instead.
So it might not necessarily be a bad thing to get married without a foundation of affection.
This was just fine.
Elnora and Wren walked over to join Albert, Kaelin, and the others.
Wren dropped the previous topic and smiled at everyone.
She said, “Let’s go and pick out our horses.”
“Mr. Campbell, you haven’t been here in ages. Your horse’s been living the good life at our riding club.”
Then, Wren led the group toward the stables.
That was when Elnora noticed Kaelin was alone and asked, “Your date hasn’t shown up yet, Kaelin?”
