Chapter 661 Like a Wronged Wife
“Elara is ordering breakfast for me in the cafeteria,” Albert said.
“If you have any issues, you can talk to me directly. She only shared those photos to defend me,” Elnora added.
Elnora locked eyes with Albert, her voice unwavering, clearly intent on shielding Elara.
Albert frowned, feeling stifled as he watched Elnora care more about Elara than him. He bit back the words he wanted to say.
The elevator doors slid open, and Albert stepped inside with a grim expression.
Elnora followed him in, noticing that Albert didn’t bring up the issue again. Unlike before, she didn’t give him the cold shoulder.
Instead, she took the initiative and said, “If you have any requests, let me know. I’ll make sure Elara gives you a proper explanation. Whether it’s an apology or helping clarify that the photo was fake, it’s all negotiable.”
Albert’s chest rose and fell as he stared at Elnora, his gaze tinged with grievance, as he was the one who’d been wronged.
“So you think that photo was doctored?” he asked.
Elnora didn’t respond to Albert’s question because that wasn’t what mattered most right now.
The photo was already circulating, and whether it was real or edited, the only thing left to handle was the fallout from its spread.
Elnora said, “Elara told me everything last night. She knows she messed up.
“She’s been by my side for years, always working her heart out and never making a mistake. I don’t want this incident to mess with her concentration.”
Albert took a deep breath and looked at Elnora.
He said, “You’re worried your assistant might get distracted by the photo, but when you left me outside your door last night, did you ever think I’d be tossing and turning, unable to sleep because of what you did?”
Albert spoke with a tone full of grievance, like he was the one wronged.
He locked his eyes on Elnora, refusing to look away.
Elnora frowned but didn’t respond to Albert’s words.
The atmosphere shifted, growing tense and complicated between them.
Albert felt a dull ache in his chest. He tore his gaze away from Elnora, staring at the elevator wall.
His voice muffled and heavy as he said, “Elnora. I really…”
Albert originally wanted to say that he really wanted Elnora to care about him a little more.
But that wasn’t him. He couldn’t say it out loud. His voice came out rough, barely above a whisper, “I just want us to live a normal life together.”
Elnora spoke in a calm, mild tone, “Mr. Campbell, we’ve been living this way since the start. I thought you would be like me, keeping our marriage as it was, without needing to say it out loud.”
As soon as Elnora finished, the elevator doors opened.
She didn’t look at Albert and strode out ahead of him.
Albert stood frozen for a few seconds, watching Elnora’s figure disappear. Suddenly, his head was spinning, and everything felt off.
He fought the sick feeling and forced himself to walk out.
But in the next instant, his vision went dark. He passed out cold.
Elara had ordered breakfast for Albert and Elnora, anxiously watching the elevator doors, hoping everything would turn out okay.

When Elnora stepped out of the elevator, her expression was grim.
It was obvious to Elara that Elnora was in a bad mood.
Guilt gnawed at her.
Elara was sure Elnora had confronted Albert about the whole photo scandal.
And judging by their faces, that conversation definitely hadn’t gone well.
Elara took a step toward Elnora, but before she could get any closer, she saw Albert suddenly collapse to the floor right in front of her.
The hotel staff rushed over to help as soon as they saw Albert collapse.
Elnora caught Elara’s shocked expression and the commotion behind her. She spun around, just in time to see Albert lying unconscious on the floor.
Her brows furrowed, panic flashing in her eyes. Without hesitation, she hurried toward Albert.
The hotel staff wasted no time and quickly called for emergency medical assistance.
Elara was driving behind the ambulance, sneaking worried glances at Elnora in the passenger seat, whose face was clouded with concern.
Elara asked cautiously, “Ms. Finley, did you upset Mr. Campbell so much that he fainted?
“If the Campbell family hears about this, are they going to kick us out for good?”
Elara felt like she’d screwed things up this time.
Elnora rubbed her temples, her voice calm but serious as she said, “Don’t stress about it.”
Elara bit her lip, thinking, ‘How am I supposed not to worry?‘
She felt guilty as if she’d gotten Elnora caught up in her mess.
“If the Campbell family comes down on us, I’ll take the fall for everything. I…” Elara started, feeling anxious.
Elnora frowned and cut her off, “Quiet down.”
Elara swallowed her words, seeing the annoyance in Elnora’s eyes.
Elara shut up right away and kept her eyes on the road.
When they got to the hospital, Albert was quickly admitted.
Albert was assigned to a ward.
By the time Elnora finished the paperwork and stepped into Albert’s ward, he was already awake.
When Elnora walked in, Albert shifted his gaze away from her and stared out the window.
Elara followed Elnora cautiously. Seeing Albert like that, she couldn’t help but think to herself, ‘Honestly, Mr. Campbell looks like a wife who’s been bullied.‘
Elnora walked over to Albert’s bedside, her voice mild as she said, “The doctor said you fainted because of a sudden drop in blood sugar.”
Albert had always been healthy.
Reese was a very health–conscious person, so Albert had a physical examination every year. Before getting married, Elnora had read Albert’s physical examination report. There was nothing wrong with him. All his medical indicators were perfectly normal.
Albert listened to Elnora but didn’t say a word. He stared out the window, brooding like a kid who’d been scolded.
Noticing how pale he looked, Elnora’s voice lost some of its edge.
“Is there anything you feel like eating right now?” she asked.
Elnora had just called Ludwig to get the details.
Turns out, Albert had left Port City for Frency two nights ago.

The trip from Port City to Frency took over ten hours.
And this morning, he mentioned he hadn’t slept at all last night. Elnora was starting to see the bigger picture. ‘He probably skipped dinner on the plane, too, Elnora thought, realizing why Albert was so out of it.
After staying up for dozens of hours, it was no wonder his body couldn’t take it anymore.
Albert still didn’t say a word, just kept staring out the window, silent as ever.
Seeing him like that, Elnora fell silent, too.
The room suddenly went quiet, and the silence felt awkward and uncomfortable.
Elara bit her lip, then stepped forward cautiously to apologize to Albert.
She said, “Mr. Campbell, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped your photo without permission, and I definitely shouldn’t have sent it to the group chat.
“I know I messed up, and I promise I’ll never make this kind of mistake again.
“I’m not asking for your forgiveness, but please don’t be upset anymore. I don’t want Ms. Finley to worry.”
Albert’s expression finally shifted when he heard Elara’s last plea.
He turned away from the window and glanced at Elnora.
Elnora’s face was as composed as ever, with no trace of worry on her face.
That made Albert even more frustrated. He immediately looked away, refusing to meet her eyes.
