Wolfless Omega 7

Chapter 7

I looked at Silas standing outside my door. I didn’t step aside to let him in, and I didn’t speak. I simply met his eyes, waiting for him to say why he was here.

After a few seconds of silence, he spoke.

‘About Chloe… I didn’t take her.” He paused, then added, “Don’t overthink it.”

I was surprised. I honestly expected him to come here to tell me that he and Chloe were officially together.

But here he was, telling me he had turned her down.

Was he… worried I would overthink things? Did the great Alpha actually come to the Omega dorms just to explain himself?

My voice remained flat. “Whether you accept her or not has nothing to do with me anymore.”

Silas didn’t seem to expect such a cold answer. A flash of confusion crossed his golden eyes.

‘If there’s nothing else, Alpha, I’d like to get some rest.

‘Harper.” Silas pressed his large hand against the doorframe, stopping me from closing it.

His voice dropped low, a deep rumble in his chest. “You’ve been… acting strange lately.”

I didn’t answer. I just looked away and pushed the door shut.

The click of the lock echoed in the small room. I finally shut out the man I had loved for ten years.

I leaned against the cold wood of the door and let out a long, slow breath.

Deep in my chest, there was a dull, heavy ache.

Coming here to explain himself wasn’t like Silas at all. In the past, he never wasted his breath on words he thought were “useless.”

Back when I was desperate for his love, when my whole world revolved around his moods, he had been blind to it all.

Now, when I didn’t even care that Chloe confessed her love to him, he suddenly decided to show up and explain.

Why? I felt a bitter sting of irony in my heart.

don’t know how long I stood there before the ringing of my phone sipped me back to reality.

Harper! Have you seen the announcement on the Pack Network?”

t was Sarah from the medical tent. Her voice was shaking with anger. “Why is Chloe Miller listed as the creator of the new Silver Antidote? Wasn’t that the healing serum you worked on for months? You practically lived in the medical tent testing those herbs!”

My heart dropped.

What did you say?”

Check the system! Chloe Miller is the only name listed! Even Alpha Silas isn’t on it! What the hell is going on?”

quickly opened my laptop and logged into the pack portal.

There, on the main page, the latest update stared back at me:

‘Congratulations to Warrior Chloe Miller for successfully creating the new Silver Antidote. This breakthrough will save countless lives in the Alliance…*

The Silver Antidote was meant to heal wounds caused by rogue attacks.

The idea was mine. I had spent three months mixing dangerous herbs, testing them on my own skin until my arms were covered in burns and scars, just to get the formula right.

If the creator wasn’t Alpha Silas, it should have been me.

But there was only one name on the announcement: Chloe Miller.

Silas had even left his own name off, acting like a generous leader giving all the glory to her.

I picked up my phone and called Silas immediately.

“What is going on with the Silver Antidote?” I asked, skipping all the polite greetings.

Silas’s voice came through the line, calm and cold as ever.

‘I rejected her confession tonight. She has been very depressed. She needs a major achievement to secure her rank as an Elite Warrior.”

I almost laughed out of pure anger.

‘So, you’re using my hard work to comfort her?”

“You used my blood and sweat as a personal favor for her? Did you even think to ask me? Did I ever agree to this?”

Silas’s answer was perfectly level. He didn’t think it was a big deal at all.

The formula was already finished. Chloe wrote the final report. Putting her name on it is fine.”

This antidote belongs to the Pack,” he continued. “As the Alpha, I have the power to decide who gets the credit. Your help will be rewarded later.”

My voice shook-partly from the injustice, partly from pure fury.

‘Rewarded? How? Like before? A tiny ‘thank you’ at the bottom of the page?”

‘Silas Vance, what do you think I am? A useless tool who doesn’t need credit? Just a broken wolf meant to do the dirty work?”
