YOU’LL REGRET LEAVING ME! 14

Chapter 5

Hearing this, Caspian’s face instantly darkened. He demanded furiously:

“Who hit the thousandth like?”

The messenger looked completely bewildered, stammering nervously:

“It wasn’t me. Lydia came by to pick up her resignation papers and used my phone to do it.”

“Resignation? Who gave her permission to resign?”

“Ms. Hayes is one of the company’s shareholders. She can decide whether to stay or leave on her own. That’s the rule

you set…”

“Then she’s forfeiting her shares in the company?”

“Ms. Hayes already divested a few days ago!”

“Divested? How is that possible?”

A flicker of unease crossed Caspian’s mind. Tessa, oblivious to his shift in mood, kept talking.

“Lydia’s just using tactics to make you cave. It’s the classic ‘play hard to get’ move. Caspian, don’t fall for it again.”

Caspian didn’t respond. He just kept staring at his phone.

He tried to text me, only to realize he’d blocked me ages ago.

Seeing this, Tessa sighed softly and said in a fake-considerate tone:

“Honestly, I’ve known for a while now-Lydia doesn’t deserve you.”

“She’s so insecure and paranoid. She even tries to control your normal friendships,”

“And now she’s trying to force you to apologize to her. Clearly, she doesn’t care about you at all.”

Caspian’s finger paused. A strange feeling flickered in his chest.

He remembered all the things Lydia used to do for him.

Warming his hands in winter, holding an umbrella for him in the rain.

Even running halfway across the city just to buy his favorite wine when he was in a bad mood.

These memories pricked at his heart like needles, making him inexplicably irritated.

“Tessa, don’t say that.”

He finally spoke, his tone stiff.

Tessa froze, then put on a hurt expression. “Caspian, I’m just worried about you.”

“Look, it’s so hot outside, and you’re here suffering while she won’t even reply to a single message.”

“If it were me, I’d never let you go through this.”

“You deserve so much better.”

Caspian, for once, didn’t play along with Tessa’s comments. He simply unblocked Lydia’s number and dialed.

But all he got was a cold, automated message: “Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable…”

His heart sank, his fingers trembling slightly.

He tried a few more times. Same result.

A sense of dread washed over him. He quickly opened his messaging app.

He sent Lydia a friend request, but five seconds later, it was rejected.

“She… rejected me?”

Caspian muttered to himself, his face turning pale.

Tessa leaned in, feigning shock. “No way. Lydia’s really that heartless?”

“Caspian, don’t be sad. She’s not worth it.”

“If it’s over, then it’s over.”

Caspian’s anxiety only grew. He suddenly shoved her aside.

“Shut up!”

Ignoring Tessa’s stunned expression, he immediately called Lydia’s father.
