Chapter 74
All that matters is that I still pulled this show off even with Bianca trying to bribe the kids, and all I had to do was simply be kind to the kids and find out what they’d liked. It had taken a few days, but they’d warmed up to me.
Realizing I’m still standing on stage alone, I snap myself out of my thoughts as I recall Kane’s words about the hospital. Of course I hadn’t forgotten to visit the feral wolves over the last two weeks, but I hadn’t been since three days ago. It was probably a good time to stop by.
Leaving the recreation center, I head to the hospital, glad that it’ll give me some more time to myself before having to go home and face Kane once again.
As I arrive at the hospital, I’m shocked to discover from one of the nurses that they don’t need me to attend to any of the feral wolves. It seems as though they’re all fine, calm, and already resting for the evening. However, as I consider going back home, I hear Dr. Borsheim calling my name.
“I was hoping you’d stop by today,” he says. “I wanted to check in with you and see how you’re doing. Have you tried pursuing any of my suggestions?”
I hurriedly nod. “Yes, actually. I’ve mainly been focused on some personal projects. I just finished directing the kindergarten graduation show. And I’m supposed to meet with a new trainer tonight to start a new routine.”
“Perfect,” he encourages me. “That sounds like a great start. Keep training and building your strength as much as you can. I’d like you to come and meet with me in about two weeks – we can run some tests to see if there have been any changes with your wolf.”
Again, I nod at him, excited by his suggestion. “Yes, of course. That would be amazing!”
As I say goodbye to Dr. Borsheim, I have to resist the urge to practically skip out of the hospital. Even if I wasn’t able to get some relief from helping the feral wolves, the doctor’s sense of encouragement has managed to lift my spirits.
I feel as though I’m on cloud nine as I head back to the pack house, swiftly making my way to my room so I can change into my workout clothes. Then I’m off to the house gym, ready for my training despite how late it has
become.
As I arrive, I expect to walk in and see my trainer waiting for me. However, I halt in the doorway, frozen with dread as I note that the gym is filled with people. A lot of people.
“Ah, there she is,” Bianca’s voice calls over the room as everyone glances my way. “Nice of you to finally show up.”
Snapping out it, I take a step forward, keeping myself calm as I tightly grip the strap of my gym bag. “I’m ten minutes early,” I tell her plainly. “Not that it concerns you.”
“Well, we’ve all been waiting for you,” Bianca says, gesturing to the pack members lining the room.
I lift a brow. “Why?” I ask. “I’m scheduled to have a private training session.”
I’m sure she already knows that – hence why she’s here. But why does she know that? What is she planning this time?
Bianca scoffs. “A Luna can’t train in private,” she tosses at me. “All training has to be public so pack members can watch – it builds trust in the pack.”
And there it is – Bianca’s plan. I sigh, knowing it’s all a bunch of bullshit. I’ve never heard of Lunas or Alphas having to train in front of everyone to prove themselves. Not unless they want to.

But fine. I’m not going to back down and let her win this one. Instead, I put down my bag and keep my head held high.
“Fine,” I say. “If you really care that much then stay and enjoy the show. But I’ll be focusing on my training.”
I then scan the crowd, looking for anyone who looks as if they’re meant to be my new trainer. Most people are wearing their everyday clothes, not looking as though they’re ready to lead me through a series of exercises.
“Oh, looking for your trainer?” Bianca asks then, mockingly. “She’s right here.”
As I glance back, I note that Josie stands behind her, clearing geared up and ready to workout. However, the smirk on her face already tells me that Josie has ulterior motives.
