Chapter 660 An Ominous Premonition
Chapter 660 An Ominous Premonition
Seeing how troubled Elara looked, Elnora rubbed her temples and said, “Tell me what’s going on.”
Once Elnora asked, Elara recounted everything that had happened tonight in the Supernova Entertainment’s gossip group.
She even told Elnora how she’d revealed her identity and insisted on confronting the person face-to-face in real life.
Elnora listened in silence, not interrupting once.
It wasn’t until Elara finished speaking that Elnora replied in a deep voice, “Didn’t I tell you to stop getting involved in these trivial matters?
“You’re wasting your time on pointless things. Or is your workload not keeping you busy enough these days?”
Elara quickly replied, “It’s more than enough.”
Since coming to Frency, Elnora had them working longer hours than they ever did back home. And with all the market research, it was way more draining than their usual office jobs.
Elara could handle the workload herself, but she was worried Elnora might not be able to take the strain.
“I just can’t stand the way they make up stuff about you,” Elara muttered, her voice growing softer.
She hated seeing Elnora get trashed like that, especially when those people were busy kissing up to Stella and still had to put Elnora down to make her look better.
After all these years working with Elnora, Elara knew better than anyone how incredible Elnora was.
As a boss or as a friend, Elnora was the best person Elara could ask for.
Elara couldn’t stand anyone saying even a single bad word about Elnora.
Elnora responded with calm indifference, “Let them talk, it’s their problem, not yours. If you jump in to defend me, it makes it look like you care too much about what they think.”
Elara mumbled, sounding a bit down, “I know I was wrong.”
Elnora let out a soft sigh, her voice calm and steady as she said, “Glad you understand. It’s late, so get some rest. I’ll talk to Mr. Campbell tomorrow. Don’t let this bother you or mess with your work.”
Elara felt genuinely grateful. “Okay, Ms. Finley. You’re the best. But what about Reese? Will she be upset with you because those photos got leaked?”
“No,” Elnora replied, unfazed.
She had explained everything to Reese about her and Albert before coming to Frency.
Reese was a sensible person. She wouldn’t blame Elnora for something like this.
Elara let out a sigh of relief, though she couldn’t help but worry.
“If Reese ends up having a problem with it, say it was all my fault,” Elara said, sounding guilty. “It was my mistake, so you shouldn’t have to take the fall for me.”
Elnora’s tone was flat as she said, “Get some rest. Don’t let this weigh on you. And from now on, don’t get involved in this stuff anymore.”
Elara nodded quickly. “Okay, Ms. Finley.”
After hanging up, Elnora opened her chat with Albert, ready to spill everything. But as her finger hovered over the screen, she changed her mind. Instead of sending a message to Albert, she put her phone away and went to sleep.
Albert had traveled halfway across the world to Frency, enduring a grueling ten-hour flight.
But after finally arriving at Frency, he didn’t even get to hold his wife’s hand. She gave him the cold shoulder and wouldn’t let him in. He was feeling seriously frustrated.

Chapter 660 An Ominous Premonition
After washing up, Albert flopped onto the bed, unable to get comfortable no matter what he did His mood hit rock bottom.
Elnora was a mystery to Albert right now.
It’s not like things were tense between them. They’d finally gotten closer not too long ago.
But just when Albert thought they were finally moving forward as a couple, Elnora suddenly put up her walls again, like those nights they shared meant nothing at all.
Albert felt like he’d been drenched in ice-cold water, chilled to the bone.
He lay in bed, restless all night, unable to get any sleep.
Albert found himself getting up several times in the middle of the night, wandering out into the hallway, and almost knocking on Elnora’s door to try and talk things out.
But every time Albert reached Elnora’s door, the memory of her cold, distant gaze hit him hard. It stung more than he’d like to admit.
He forced himself to push down the discomfort and headed back to his own room.
Going back and forth like this, Albert barely slept a wink all night.
The next morning, Elnora stepped out of her room, all ready to start the day. Almost at the same moment, Albert came out of his room as well.
Albert glanced at Elnora, started to say hi, but stopped himself before any words came out.
He’d been rejected by Elnora so many times recently that his confidence was shot.
He was worried that if he tried to greet her, she’d give him the cold shoulder.
Elnora’s gaze landed on Albert, and she spoke quietly, “Morning.”
It wasn’t until Elnora greeted him that Albert finally replied, “Morning.”
“Did you sleep well last night?” Albert asked.
Elnora nodded. “Pretty well.”
She drifted off not long after putting her phone away.
When she first got to Frency, it took her a couple of days to get used to things, but lately work’s been so overwhelming that she’s too tired to stay awake for long.
Albert saw that Elnora only replied with a couple of words, clearly not interested in how he was doing. Feeling a bit awkward, he spoke up on his own, “I couldn’t sleep at all last night.”
As Elnora walked toward the elevator, she pressed the down button. Hearing Albert’s comment, she glanced sideways at him as he came up to stand beside her.
Then she said, “About the photos, Elara didn’t do it on purpose. She got worked up by those people. I’ve talked to her about it and told her not to get caught up in that kind of drama again.”
Albert’s brow gradually knitted tighter as he listened to Elnora.
“Photos? What photos?” he asked, genuinely puzzled.
He hadn’t checked his phone since last night.
His mind was occupied with how to fix things with Elnora and figure out how they could move forward together.
Hearing Elnora mention the photos, Albert immediately grabbed his phone.
Kaelin and the others had tagged him in the group chat late last night.
[Albert, is this you?]
[Dude, why are you crying?]

[Word is you chased all the way to Frency, and Ms. Finley made you cry?]
[Albert, hurry up and say something. Is it true or not?]
Benedict: [Guys, come on, you can tell if the photo’s real just by looking at it. Stop spamming, Albert’s probably got a headache right now.]
Kaelin DM’d Albert a bunch of times, too, not just in the group chat.
He dropped a pic of Albert crying, then followed up with a message.
Kaelin: [Man, guess you aren’t cut out for a woman like Ms. Finley, huh?]
Albert stared at the photo, his brows knit tight as he squeezed his phone. He shot Elnora a look, his voice dripping with frustration and anger, practically grinding his teeth. “Where’s Elara?”
Meanwhile, Elara was downstairs in the cafeteria, getting breakfast for Elnora and Albert. She suddenly
sneezed.
She felt a chill sweep over her, goosebumps rising on her skin. An ominous feeling crept up inside her.
Thinking about the mess she’d caused last night, Elara couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
