Morgan had crossed paths with Yvonne a few times at the Xander estate when the old man was nearing the end.
On the surface, she had always acted respectful toward him, but he could see the underlying contempt. More than that, the way she looked at Tracy was pure venom.
It was infuriating that the rest of the Xanders were too blind to see through her act. Then again, she hid it well. If you weren’t watching closely,

The sound of a wheelchair rolling across the floor drew her attention to the door. Tracy turned just as Sarah called out to her, her voice trembling.
“Tracy… you’ve suffered so much.”
Tracy’s heart skipped a beat. They had been talking about everything she’d been through; she had no idea how much her grandmother had overheard.

She felt a wave of unease. She didn’t want to know if Sarah had heard them discussing the bitter history between her and Yvonne.
Sarah gripped Tracy’s hand, her eyes welling up. “I heard Morgan’s surgery is tomorrow. I had to come see him.”
She never expected to walk into a room and hear all that. How did the Xanders have the nerve? How could they join forces with outsiders to bully their own sister right under her nose?
And Chandler… so he had been married to Tracy all along. No wonder Tracy had reacted so strongly that day when Yvonne announced she was in a relationship.

The family had actually blamed Tracy for being difficult. Her poor Tracy must have been in so much pain.
Sarah had considered many possibilities, but she never imagined Yvonne would be shameless enough to use her mother’s old tactics. She’d seduced Tracy’s husband while manipulating the Xanders to turn against her, all in an attempt to destroy Sarah’s precious granddaughter.
It was monstrous.
Sarah had thought that as long as she didn’t expose the mother and daughter for who they really were, everyone could live in peace. She assumed Yvonne’s petty targeting of Tracy wouldn’t amount to much.
But she realized now that her silence had only made them more brazen. They hadn’t just stolen Tracy’s husband; they were out for blood. Like mother, like daughter, they were both ruthless, both shameless, and both experts at taking what belonged to others.

She rested a hand on Morgan’s shoulder. “Your mother came all this way. Don’t just sit there ignoring her. She knows your surgery is tomorrow and she’s worried. You’ll break her heart acting like this. Whatever happened thirty years ago, she’s still the woman who raised you. It’s time to let it go, don’t you think?”
Sarah had made mistakes back then, but she certainly hadn’t intended for things to end so tragically. She was just a mother, not a psychic; she couldn’t have accounted for every possible variable.
