“Gran has lived in regret for so many years now. She just wants to do something for you while she’s still around. Please don’t stay angry with her, okay? Ever since she hurt her leg, her health has been going downhill. It’s hard for her to even move, yet she still came all this way to see you. Just talk to her.”

Sarah had paid a heavy price for a single wrong choice. Her eldest son was a disappointment who had done nothing but cross her since the day he married Faye.

Morgan had cut ties with her entirely, swearing never to set foot in the Xander house again. That was over thirty years ago.

She was definitely running out of time considering her old age.

Sarah turned her wheelchair, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Morgan. “You’ve lost so much weight. I know you won’t forgive me, and I didn’t come here to ask for that. I just wanted to see you. Your surgery is tomorrow… Is everything ready? If you need anything at all, tell Tracy. I’ll have someone bring it over. I know you’ve struggled since you left us. Let your useless mother do at least this much for you.”

She had arrived expecting to be thrown out, but Morgan hadn’t done that. For her, that was enough. Knowing her time was likely running short, she only wanted to do something meaningful for the people she loved.

Morgan didn’t speak, but a single tear rolled down his cheek. He still cared.

Tracy pushed the wheelchair to his bedside. Sarah stared at her son through a blur of tears, wanting to soak in every detail. She had a lifetime of things to say to him, but now that he was right in front of her, the words wouldn’t come.

The silence spoke louder than anything they could have said.

Sarah reached out, her hand trembling as she tried to touch Morgan’s face, but he instinctively flinched away. She pulled her hand back, looking dejected.

Just then, Jackson’s voice rang out from the doorway. “Tracy, I got those snacks you wanted. Eat them while they’re…”

He cut off mid-sentence when he saw Sarah. He clearly hadn’t expected to find her there.

Because of his father’s history with her, Jackson had never called Sarah Grandma, and he stayed far away from anything involving the Xander family. To him, she was just a woman he recognized. There was no bond between them.

Tracy went to the door to take the food and glanced behind him. “Where’s Natalie?”

“She ran into her ex on the way out,” Jackson explained shortly. “The guy had the nerve to lay a hand on her. I drove her home to cool off.”

Tracy felt a pang of worry for Natalie. She made a mental note to call and check on her later. It was infuriating that Leon would have the audacity to hit her, especially in a hospital.

Sarah watched Jackson’s tall, broad-shouldered frame and sighed. “Jackson’s grown up so much. Time really does fly.”

The last time she’d seen him was at a funeral when he was just a teenager. Now ten years had vanished. Time never said a word, yet it took everything eventually.

Jackson didn’t look at Sarah, so he didn’t notice how pale she was.

Sarah let out a tired breath and called hall, “Millie, let’s head back.”

But seeing that Tracy was loved and that Morgan’s family

y was happy meant more to her than anything. She had finally seen her son and grandson again; she wouldn’t ask for more.

She had one more important thing to do when she got home. If that mother and daughter couldn’t play nice, she was done being patient.

Sarah looked up at Tracy. “Tracy, come back with me.”

Millie stepped into the room, gave Tracy a quick nod, and moved behind the wheelchair.

Sarah’s face went stone-cold as she gave Millie her orders. “Call everyone. Tell them to get home now. I don’t care what they’re doing. No one skips this. No excuses.”

It was time to rip off Yvonne’s mask. Sarah had spent years turning a blind eye, but she wasn’t blind.

She had let them off the hook years ago because of the circumstances, but now they were trying to ruin her Tracy. She wasn’t going to let that slide.

Tracy could tell how worked up Sarah was. Fearing she might collapse or faint from the stress, Tracy gave a small nod,

“Okay,” she said softly.

Morgan watched Sarah’s back the entire time she was turning around. He didn’t look away until she disappeared through the door, and only then did he wipe his eyes.

Lily sighed beside him. “Your mom probably heard everything we said. She’s going back to get
