“I can tell you and your mother both care about each other, so why the cold shoulder? Tracy just said her health is failing. You already have to live with the regret of your father passing, so do you really want your mother to be next?”
It was obvious after everything that happened that Sarah still worried about Morgan. For some reason, he just wouldn’t admit it, let alone show it.
Jackson looked at Lily, completely lost. “Mom, what are you talking about? What happened to Tracy? Why does she need someone to step in for her?”
He’d been away on a business trip and came home to news that his father was sick. Between work and the hospital, he’d been totally cut off from what was happening in Northport.
Morgan’s eyes filled with grief as he choked out the truth.
“What?” Jackson’s eyes went wide. He slammed a fist into the wall. “How dare they? How could they do that to our girl?”
Meanwhile at the Xander Estate.
Sarah had called an emergency meeting for the entire Xander family. When she spoke, nobody dared to ignore her.
Faye and her daughter were out shopping when the call came, and they arrived home loaded down with bags. Jared and Trevor had been in the middle of a client meeting; they rushed back, having no idea what was going on. Even Chase, who had been out drinking, made it home the second he got the word.
Sarah looked at Faye and the mountain of bags. Her voice was cold. “You really don’t hesitate when it comes to spending other people’s money, do you? All you do is shop. Does that closet of yours even have any room left?”
Faye turned pale. Was Sarah off her meds? Why was she suddenly obsessed with her shopping habits? She was confused as to what had gotten into Sarah then.
Hiding her annoyance, Faye forced a smile. “Mom, Yvonne’s project is about to hit the market. Jared gave her a card as a reward for all her hard work. Anyway, why the rush to get us here? Did Tracy say something to get you all worked up again?”
Every time Tracy showed up, it was trouble. If she hadn’t been whispering in Sarah’s ear, Faye couldn’t think of any reason for this.

She knew Tracy had figured out their secret, and she’d been worried at first. But then she remembered Sarah knew too, and even she couldn’t do anything about it. They had the White family behind them. Even if Sarah hated them, she wouldn’t dare go public, not if she didn’t want the Whites to crush the Xander family. In Northport, the White family could make anyone disappear.
Yvonne played along, her eyes turning red on cue. “Grandma, you know Tracy has it out for us. You can’t just take her word for everything. If we did something wrong, just tell us, and we’ll fix it. There’s no need to go running to Grandma to complain. She’s getting older, and her health isn’t great. Stressing her out like this isn’t fair to her.”
Just then, Chase stormed in, pointing a finger at Tracy. “Tracy, what did you tell her this time? You know Grandma’s health is fragile. Wasn’t I clear enough last time? How do you even have the nerve to show up here? Get the hell out.”

Chase reached out to grab her. “You’re only here because our project is launching and under federal investigation, aren’t you? You came to beg Grandma for help. Well, keep dreaming. Even if you begged us, we wouldn’t lift a finger. Vector Tech is being audited, and you’ve lost your lead engineers and your project is dead. You get what you deserve for how you treat Yvonne.”
Before he could touch Tracy, Sarah slapped his hand away. “You bastard! So this is how you treat her? How did I raise people who act worse than animals? What did Tracy ever do to you to deserve this? If you don’t explain yourselves right now, I’ll spend my last breath beating the life out of every one of you.”
She hadn’t known. If Chase hadn’t spilled the beans, she probably would’ve never found out about any of this in her whole life. These people were soulless. She’d stopped them from sabotaging Tracy before and warned them to stay away, but they’d just come up with something even more vicious.

Sarah knew the boys weren’t smart enough to pull these stunts on their own. This had Yvonne’s fingerprints all over it. Yvonne couldn’t stand the thought of Tracy being better than her, so she’d decided to eliminate the competition. It was pure, unadulterated malice.
Jared and Trevor walked through the door just in time to see Sarah strike Chase.
Before they could even process the scene, Yvonne was already at Sarah’s side, sobbing. “Grandma, what did Tracy say to you? Why are you hitting Chase? He’s just upset. He didn’t mean any of those things. You know how he is; he’s got a temper, but he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Please, stop hitting him!”
Faye joined in, her voice thick with fake tears. “She’s right, Mom. I don’t know what Tracy whispered to get you this worked up, but please, calm down. Let’s just talk. Tracy, help us out here. Tell your grandma to stop. You can’t feel good seeing Chase get hurt like this, can you?”
Jared and Trevor exchanged a look and rushed
his fury on Tracy. “Tracy, haven’t you done Ver. Jared didn’t even hesitate before turning

He had been drinking at a business dinner, and the stress of the last few weeks had him on edge. The company was finally getting back on its feet, and he’d hoped for a moment of peace. Instead, he walked into a war zone.
To him, Tracy was the source of every headache. He felt he’d been more than merciful by not cutting her off completely, yet here she was, coming back time and again to cause trouble. If they didn’t put their foot down, she’d think the Xander family was a doormat.
Tracy swept a cold, mocking gaze over the room. “I haven’t said a word. Yet here you all are, barkng like trained dogs the second Faye and Yvonne whistle. You want to talk about drama? How about the fact that Yvonne hired a hitman to kill me a few days ago? I walked away, but Sean took a knife for me. Tell me, how do you think the Johnsons will react when they find out a Xander was behind the attack on their golden boy?”
Yvonne was clever and careful. Sean had been digging for days without finding a direct link to her. But that was her weakness, too. Once the Johnson family really started turning over stones, the truth would come out. And when it did, Yvonne would pay the price.
Yvonne’s face went white for a split second before she recovered. “How can you lie like that? I would never…”
“You’re the one who started the lying,” Tracy cut her off sharply. “I walked into this house and didn’t say a single thing before you all started throwing dirt on me. It’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?
