Chapter 36 2

.Chapter 36-2

After this, we’d probably need to sweep the entire kingdom to make sure no one was left with a

scrambled brain, but right now I had the immediate area covered.

“I, Kane Vayne, give up my crown to you-” he stopped mid-sentence.

That pause was all the signal I needed.

“Now!” Dash yelled.

I tugged at all of the bright, shiny tendrils in my mind, connecting with every single head fuzzy with Kellan’s magic. My power ripped through their mental barriers, dissolving the artificial control and setting their minds free.

I opened my eyes just in time to see several guards make surprised noises and fall to their knees, clutching their heads as their consciousness returned. The ones who’d been fighting the hardest against the control looked the most disoriented, blinking rapidly as they tried to figure out where

they were.

Dash took the opportunity to rip his restraints and tackle Lania, the bitch who’d been holding the knife in my chest. They went down hard, rolling across the floor as Dash used his superior weight

to pin her down.

“You fucking psycho!” he snarled, wrestling the blade away from her. “What kind of sick bitch stabs

an unconscious woman?”

Kane jumped to his feet and started running toward me, but I shook his head. Kellan was still standing, still dangerous, and we needed to neutralize him before he could regroup.

“Knock him out!” I called.

I saw Kane curse as he changed direction, his fist connecting with Kellan’s face so hard that his son went down like a sack of rocks. The prince hit the floor and stayed there, completely

unconscious.

Warm and familiar arms surrounded me, and Dash squeezed me tightly against his chest.

“You’ve got a shit ton of things to explain, you dumbass,” he said, his voice rough with emotion. “I

hate you so much.”

I squeezed my brother back just as tightly, relief flooding through me at having him safe and

sound. “I hate you more. Payback is a bitch, asshole. Now you’ll think twice before texting me only

every two months.”

Chapter 36 2

“Oh my god,” he pulled back to look at me, his hands on my shoulders. “You spiteful little-”

“Careful,” Kane grunted from behind us, and I turned to look at him.

Clam

My heart clenched at the sight of his face. He had bruises all over his beautiful features, blood on his knuckles, and his clothes were torn from the fight. But he was alive, and he was standing, and

that was what mattered.

He approached slowly, his eyes scanning my face with desperate intensity. When he reached out to cradle my cheek, his hand was shaking.

“Who the fuck did this to you, love?” he snarled, his thumb tracing over the bruises on my face.” Who the fuck dared put a single finger on you?”

As if summoned by his words, the three guards who’d attacked me in the corridor came charging towards us. They must have been further away when I’d broken Kellan’s control, giving them time to regroup and come after us.

“There!” one of them shouted, pointing at me. “Get the bitch!”

They rushed us, some in their human skin and some in their lycan forms, but they’d made a critical error. They were facing two men who were absolutely furious about what had been done to me.

Kane moved with lethal grace, intercepting the first guard with a vicious uppercut that lifted the man off his feet. “You dare put your hands on her?” he snarled, grabbing the guard by the throat and slamming him into the wall.

Dash took the second one, his witch powers finally back online, Kellan’s serum finally burned out. I didn’t know what the hell that had been, and I didn’t think Dash knew either, since we’d never encountered something so powerful to completely nullify someone’s magic, but that would be something to discuss later with our parents. Now, magic crackled around my brother’s hands as he sent the lycan guard flying across the room with a gesture.
