Chapter 6

Dorian heard the lawyer’s words.

When had Vivienne ended their claiming relationship?

At first, he thought it must be a misunderstanding or some kind of prank.

But the document the lawyer held crushed the last shred of hope he had left.

“Thank you for your cooperation. I wish you well.”

The lawyer turned to leave. Dorian blocked him, clutching at the final thread of control.

“Tell me where Vivienne went. Why does she never answer my calls?”

“You are her legal representative. You must know where she is,” Dorian pressed.

The lawyer shook his head. “A week ago, Ms. Vivienne arranged all of this. She requested not to be contacted. As for where she went, she never said. I have no way of knowing.”

Dorian watched the lawyer walk away and pressed a hand to his forehead. Darkness clouded his vision.

Vivienne had not left out of anger. She was leaving intentionally. Even the claiming release had been planned.

Everything he had assumed about her leaving in a fit of temper was his own self-deception.

Panic rose in him. It was not just the withdrawal of her presence gnawing at his wolf soul. The reputation of the Blackthorn Pack was also at stake.

If news of Vivienne ending the claim spread, if people discovered she had left while another woman marked him and living with his pup, the Blackthorn Pack would become a laughingstock across the northern territories.

He had wronged Vivienne first. He had claimed her but given the mark to another woman.

That day, Alpha Alistair arrived.

He entered the study intending to discuss with Dorian how to handle Seraphina and Leo.

The moment Dorian stepped in, his father’s questions fell on him like hail.

“Why did you insist on letting that woman give birth?”

“Now that Vivienne has left, are you satisfied?”

“Your relationship was supposed to unite two packs. Now it has caused this mess. You have angered the Hale family. How does that benefit you?”

“Even if Vivienne risked her health to help you and it was difficult to carry a child, there were other ways. Why did you have to solve it in a way neither pack could accept?”

Dorian stayed silent for a long time before lifting his head.

“She could carry. The doctor said she had recovered after treatment.”

Alistair did not understand. “Then why-”

Dorian exhaled. “That came later. Seraphina was a woman I had marked. If Vivienne gave birth, no one could accept Seraphina and her child afterward.”

He paused. “Look at the situation now. Vivienne has not had a child. Yet Seraphina and Leo are already in a position where they cannot be fully accepted.”

“At first, I was soft. Seraphina said she was lonely and would leave after giving birth. Later, I could not bear to let my bloodline drift away.”

Alistair’s eyes widened with anger. “Fine. What do you plan to do now?”

“I will try to persuade Vivienne to return,” Dorian said. “As for Seraphina, I will give her money and send her away. The pup will stay with the Blackthorn family.”

They deliberated for a long time before agreeing on a plan.

When they left the study together, Seraphina stood at the end of the hallway.

She had a bad feeling, as if her sentence had been handed down.

Dorian pulled her aside, his expression conflicted.

“Seraphina, the Blackthorn family will give you money. But you cannot stay here. You cannot stay with the pup.”

Her body trembled as if struck by something.

“I gave birth to your child and stayed with you for so long. Your mark is still in my wolf soul. Do I still not compare to Vivienne in your eyes?”
