Chapter 4
I lay weakly on the ground, my heart aching with a dense, suffocating pain.
The brand on my shoulder was a black and red scar, the flesh turned outward.
Ethan glanced at it with disgust and left without looking back.
I don’t know how long I was unconscious.
In my hazy consciousness, I seemed to see my mother, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time.
She opened her arms to embrace me. I tried to move my arms but had no strength.
“Vivian, it’s my fault. I never should have married you off to him.”
I struggled to get up, but my mother was taken away by police officers.
She cried pitifully. Behind her stood Ethan, his face expressionless.
I crawled toward him like a madwoman, clutching his clothes.
“What did my mother do wrong?! Why did you have her arrested?!”
He lifted my chin with his finger and spoke coldly.
“Blame your demonic possession. Olivia still hasn’t woken up.”

you see your mother one last time. You should be grateful.”
My pupils contracted sharply, Suppressing the immense pain in my chest, I tried to crawl away.
He seemed to sense my intention and took me directly to see all the familiar faces in prison.
Among them were men who worked at the company, and even my little sister, who was under five years old.
My body trembled uncontrollably. Then I stared at Ethan with piercing eyes.
“I grew up with you. My family worked tirelessly to help you take control of Pierce Industries. You’re the last person who can call me a demon.”
“How did my children die, Ethan? Don’t you know? Was she truly afflicted by witchcraft, or was she faking her faints? Can you really not see?”
He seemed frightened by my state. He hesitated and reached out to take me back,

I pushed back with all my might, laughing bitterly.
“Ethan, the biggest regret of my life is marrying you. The second biggest is choosing to believe you over and over again.”
Tears kept falling, but my heart didn’t seem to hurt as much anymore.
Ethan kept moving closer to me, speaking with anguish.
“I never did anything wrong. Don’t you know how much I love you?”
“Forget it. Go back and recover first. We’ll deal with the rest later.”
I pushed him away and walked decisively toward the rooftop.
The system’s voice appeared just in time.
“Host, three days have passed. Prepare to leave your physical body.”
After the voice disappeared, I leaped.
Ethan froze in shock, then ran madly downstairs and held my body.
“Vivian!”
