Chapter 5
Everyone was terrified. Ethan pressed his hands tightly against my wounds,
“Where are the doctors? Get them here now! If anything happens to Vivian, I’ll have every single one of you killed!”
The doctors wheeled me into the emergency room trembling. They worked on me for twenty full hours.
But it was all useless.
My soul left my body. I watched them indifferently as they made futile efforts.
Ethan bowed his head, pressing his face against mine, his whole body trembling.
“How can you be dead? I won’t let you die. You promised me you’d stay with me forever. Vivian, you can’t break your
promise.”
1 sm led bitterly. Olivia’s maid ran to him happily.
“Sir, Madam Olivia is awake. You should go see her. It really was an evil spirit causing trouble. Now that she’s dead,
Madam Olivia’s illness is completely cured.”
His eyes were dark and fierce as he stared at her. Then he turned and gave an order.
“Who said Vivian is dead? Does her death make you happy? Get out. I don’t want to see you in the Pierce family ever
again.”
He raised his hand. The bodyguards behind him grabbed her and dragged her out of the hospital despite her struggles.
The air was deathly still. The doctors dared not approach.
He glared coldly at all the doctors and roared.
“Why aren’t you treating her? Are you all quacks? Not a single one of you can save Vivian?”
A brave doctor stepped forward, sweating and trembling.
“Mr. Pierce, her blood pressure and pulse are gone. She can’t be saved.”
Ethan turned and stared blankly at my body on the gurney.
He kept calling out, trying to get me to respond.
“Vivian, didn’t you say you liked Paris? Get up. I’ll take you to Paris, okay?”
“And from now on, we’ll have so many children. They’ll all grow up healthy. Just wake up, okay?

“Everyone else can abandon me, but not you. Have you forgotten all the promises you made to me?”
As he spoke, he froze in place.
The blurry memories in his mind were gradually becoming clear.
The hardships I had endured, the tears I had swallowed–all of it flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern.
My body had long been battered beyond repair. Even if I hadn’t taken my own life, I would have only lasted a few more days.
He looked at me in shock, unable to speak for a long time.
When he didn’t return, Olivia came out on her own.
She looked pale, but other than that, she showed no signs of someone on the verge of death.
When she saw me lying in Ethan’s arms, she couldn’t help but cry out.
“Ethan, what happened? Vivian…”
Ethan looked at her coldly. His gaze seemed to wish he could tear her apart.
“She’s dead. Are you happy now? She had nothing left here. Are you satisfied?”
