“What kind of job makes her go out on Saturdays? I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s seeing some guy on the side.
“Mom,” Vincent replied quietly, his annoyance clear in his cold tone. “Archie’s still here. Please don’t talk like that.
Linda muttered, “I’m giving you a heads-up.”
Vincent shot Linda a sharp look, causing her to fall silent immediately.
“Daddy, what does Grandma mean by ‘guy on the side’?” Archie asked curiously,
Vincent’s expression softened as he replied, “Don’t listen to your grandma. She was making things up.”
Archic still looked confused.
Queenie drove straight to Ravesdale University. Standing outside the gates, the place felt both familiar and strange, stirring up a mix of emotions inside her. She never thought she’d return here.
When she left, she had confidently told her mentor, “I’m going to be happy.”
But now, remembering that, she felt embarrassed to move forward. ‘With everything that’s happened, how can I face my teacher now?’ she thought.
“Queenie!” Just as she was about to turn away, someone called out to her. “Queenie, it’s really you. I almost thought I was imagining it.”
Queenie looked over and recognized the girl. It was Grace Rivers, the lively spirit of their class.
“Queenie, you still look as stunning as you did in school. Seriously, you haven’t changed a bit,” Grace said, checking her out with admiration.
Queenie nodded slightly. “You’re still the same cheerful Grace as before.”
“Come on. Let’s go in together,” Grace said, linking her arm with Queenie’s and leading her toward the entrance.
Queenie followed along, feeling somewhat reluctant, letting Grace take the initiative.
“Queenie, where are you working now? I remember you were always at the top of our class,” Grace asked.
“I…” Queenie hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
Before she could say more, Grace chimed in. “Come on. You were Mr. Grant’s favorite. You must be at some top research institute by now,
“As for me, I was always near the bottom of the class, so I ended up as a pharmacy technician at a drugstore after graduation.”
“Don’t say that. You brought so much energy to our department,” Queenie replied.
“Exactly!” Grace said with a big smile, obviously proud.
Queenie couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. Grace seemed so carefree, never letting anything bother her, always living life on her own terms.

Chapter 19
As they talked, they made their way to the student life building for the School of Medicine. Back in the day, after finishing their lab work, everyone would gather in their favorite hangout spot to eat, relax, and canch up like one big family
“Everyone, look who’s here!” Grace called out as she swung the door open.
Everyone turned to look. “Queenie!” they shouted as they rushed over to greet her.
Queenie was caught off guard by the sudden crowd. She hadn’t expected such a warm welcome after being away for so long. and honestly, it touched her more than she’d thought.
“Queenie, where are you working now?” one person asked.
“Queenie, where have you been these last few years? Why didn’t you stay in touch with us?” another chimed in
Queenie stood there, completely overwhelmed by their questions.
Suddenly, the room fell silent as everyone turned to look at the door.
“Hi, everyone! Let me introduce Vivian Lynn. She’s not in our department, but she also went to our universing,” a woman announced.
Jessica James?’ Queenie thought, surprised to see Jessica with Vivian, but then she realized why. Vivian always knew I didn’t get along with Jessica, yet she still chose to stick with her. I guess she never really considered me a true friend
Thinking back to that fake friendship, Queenie couldn’t help but find it laughable.
