I was gone.
The operating table was soaked in blood.
Draven’s heart skipped as he looked up to find the room filled with police, Maris and several nurses pinned down.
The moment she saw him, Maris broke into hysterics. “Draven! Help me!”
“I don’t know why Liora called the police. They just came in and took control of everything!”
His hand shook.
He snapped at her, voice sharp.
“Where is Liora?”
“Whose blood is that on the table?”
The panic on his face was obvious.
Maris froze, startled by his reaction. She couldn’t even answer.
An officer stepped forward and showed his badge.
“Mr. Kessler, we received a report from Ms. Liora Vance.”
“She alleges that you and Ms. Maris Hale fabricated evidence and forced her to take the fall, serving time in prison on Ms.
Hale’s behalf. We’ve already begun an investigation.”
“You’ll need to come with us.”
He paused, then added, “As for Ms. Vance, when we entered, Ms. Hale was in the process of harming her. We intervened
and sent her to the hospital.”
Draven staggered, knowing the moment the police stepped in, everything was over.
He turned to Maris, the softness gone from his eyes, replaced by something vicious.
“Didn’t I tell you to leave her alone?” he shouted.
“Why did you keep hurting her? Five years in prison wasn’t enough for you?”
Maris’s face went pale,
Tears spilled uncontrollably.
“No… that’s not what happened… Draven, please believe me…”
“I didn’t mean it… I was just… I was just joking with her…”

The officer in front of them wiped his body cam.
“We will be filing charges against Ms. Hale.”
“Mr. Kessler, Ms. Hale, and the staff involved-you’re coming with us.”
They were all taken away.
Meanwhile, I was lying in a hospital bed.
After everything, there was only silence left inside me.
When Maris cut into my face, the police finally arrived. They pulled her off me and got me out.
One of the officers who brought me here told me my evidence had been verified.
They promised justice.
After I went back with Draven that day, I quietly retrieved the surveillance drive I had hidden five years ago.
I also tracked down one of the nurses who assisted in my original surgery.
She didn’t hold out for long. Her conscience finally caught up with her, and she handed over the surgical records along
with the audio recording.
In it, Draven’s voice was clear. He told Maris to put her face on mine, and make me take the fall for her hit-and-run.
The day he left me at the station, I made my move.
I reported everything, handed over every piece of evidence I had, and told the police exactly what they had done to me.
They opened an investigation immediately.
And everything checked out.
I’d been waiting for this. Waiting for the arrest.
I even scheduled a post to go live that day,
To expose them to the world.
And the flash drive I gave Draven…held the nightmare that would destroy him for the rest of his life.
