Chapter 103 No Idea
“Stop joking. How could there be a homeless person at our school?”
“But if it’s real, you should tell a teacher.”
“Yeah, seriously.”
The girls kept talking, but Maya didn’t expect the school to actually control someone like that. A person like George didn’t follow rules anyway. Relying on herself felt safer.
So after school, the first thing she did when she got home was ask Alfred for a stun gun. She stuffed it into her backpack.
If George dared to bother her again, she was going to zap him.
In the new week, their English teacher gave them a writing assignment in class.
“My … Dad” or “My … Mom.”
There was no word limit. The teacher told them to use their imagination but also base it on real life.
Normally, topics like this would be things like “My Angel Mom” or “My Hardworking Dad.”
But the problem was, Harmony International School was full of kids who grew up with wealth and privilege.
Once you said “based on real life,” it easily turned into a competition about parents’ status.
The kids in the international program already loved comparing backgrounds, family wealth, and parents.
Now that they had the chance, of course they were going to show off in their essays.
“What should I even write?”
During this writing class, the teacher let them gather in groups and discuss freely.
Maya spun her pen, looking bored. “My dad hasn’t been home for two months. He’s been working out of town. Even if I call him, it’s too late to ask.”
She didn’t know much about Raymond.
He was probably the most mysterious person in the family.
But maybe she could write about her mom instead.
At that moment, Jenny dragged her chair over and leaned on the desk, thinking hard.
“Your dad went to work out of town?” Jenny asked.
“Yeah,” Maya said. “He’s on a business trip.”

But she had no idea where exactly.
Jenny still remembered Raymond. In her mind, he seemed like a weak man.

“Maya, come to think of it, I forgot to ask you,” Jenny said, biting her lip with worry. “Your dad won’t get bullied at work, right? My mom says the workplace can be really harsh.”
Jenny didn’t know much about regular jobs, but in her dad’s company, people like Raymond-gentle and soft-were often pushed around.
They had trouble saying no. They were easy to take advantage of. People like that didn’t last long in a
company.
“He won’t,” Maya answered firmly.
After all, the people who bullied Raymond were already dead.
“My dad isn’t that useless,” Maya added. “He’s just not very serious most of the time.” She started to imagine it. “If he acted serious once in a while, he’d probably look really handsome.”
“I totally agree!” Jenny immediately got distracted and laughed. “Guys who are usually not serious but suddenly act serious—that contrast is so attractive.
“But compared to that, I prefer the energetic type.”
Maya nodded. “I think the kind that’s like a cat is cute too. Usually proud and aloof, but gentle with certain people.”
Jenny got excited. “When we grow up, I’ll get you different types of male models-every type you can think of!”
The two of them chattered nonstop about what kind of guys were the most handsome.
Alfred listened nearby, completely confused.
He tried comparing humans to animals in his head, but the similarity was zero. He couldn’t understand at
all.
“Why can’t you just like humans?” he suddenly said.
“Dogs and cats have unstable emotions. From a logical and hygiene standpoint, projecting feelings onto non-human animals isn’t a good choice.”
Alfred didn’t realize anything was wrong. Seeing them stare at him like he was strange, he even opened his mouth to list the disadvantages of cats and dogs, like a true anti-pet expert.
Maya said, “Alfred, please stop talking.”
Jenny couldn’t take it. “It’s just a metaphor!
“For example, if I say your sister is a cute little cupcake, it doesn’t mean she’s actually a cupcake.”

Of course, Alfred ignored her completely.
Jenny clenched her fist.
Seriously! How can he just ignore me like that?
Finished
After that completely pointless discussion, Jenny bit her pen again. “So, have you guys decided what to write?
“I’m going to write about my CEO dad, or my international designer mom.
“What about you two?”
Alfred and Maya looked at each other.
It was obvious Alfred had no idea how to write an essay.
So, he decided to copy his sister’s idea.
