After Marina and Daron left, Matthew, Martin, and Harris said their goodbyes and headed out together.
Edmund headed out of the Zamora family estate together with Daron.
On the way back, Matthew rode shotgun up front, while Martin and Zara sat together in the back.
Matthew glanced at the rearview mirror and caught sight of Martin with his arm around Zara’s waist, murmuring softly to
her.
Zara seemed totally docile, quietly listening to Martin, her gaze occasionally lingering on him, hinting at other emotions.
Martin noticed Matthew watching, met his eyes in the mirror, and smirked, his eyes gleaming with the satisfaction of a hunter who’d just claimed his prize.
Matthew let go of any urge to lecture Martin.

Zara and Hayley had spent a long time by Daron’s side.
Zara had even worked at Cloudstorm Group, so she was bound to know plenty of Daron’s secrets.
If Zara and Hayley ever fully turned against him, they’d have a much easier time dealing with Daron.

Marina settled into Daron’s car.
Daron had been on the phone ever since they left, mostly talking shop.
Once he finished up, he put his phone away and caught Marina zoning out by the window.
He reached over, enveloped her hand in his palm, and murmured an apology.
‘Sorry, work kept me busy just now,” he said softly.

‘It’s fime. Work comes first,” she said.

Martin never would’ve dared to provoke Daron before.
But today, he was strutting around like he owned the place, totally full of himself. He was clearly feeling pretty confident about those new projects.
‘Martin’s a total showman. Zara’s no match for him. Aren’t you going to give her a heads-up and tell her to steer clear of
him?”
Matthew would never let Zara become a Zamora.
And Martin never really planned on marrying her.
Daron’s tone was calm. “She won’t stop until she learns the hard way. Even if I tried to warn her, it wouldn’t change a thing.
“Everyone has their own path. It’s the one they’ve chosen. I don’t see any reason to get involved.”
Marina just stayed quiet after hearing him, not saying a word.
Seeing him like this, Marina couldn’t help but remember how, years ago, she’d gone to the Zamora family to break off their
engagement.
Back then, the whole Zamora family was against it. They flat-out refused to let her end things by herself.
After all, it was about saving face for the Zamora family.
She only managed to break off the engagement because Daron agreed to it.
‘What was Daron thinking back then?’ Marina wondered.

Noticing Marina’s silence, her eyes staring straight ahead, Daron tightened his grip on her hand just a little and asked,
“What’s on your mind?”
Marina came back to herself and smiled at him.
“just remembering some old times,” she said.
Daron asked, “Is it about me?”
Marina gave a gentle nod.
“Yeah”
Daron shot her a sideways look. “Come on, let’s hear it.”

His eyes sparkled with curiosity. He really wanted to know how Marina saw him back then.
Marina rested her head on Daron’s shoulder, giving it a small shake as she spoke.
‘It’s all ancient history now, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. It’s not really worth talking about anymore.”
No matter what happened, they still found their way back to each other in the end.
Daron glanced down at Marina, her fluffy hair nestled against his arm. His heart softened, and in that moment, he suddenly let go of everything.

Marina nodded, remaining silent.

Resting against Daron’s arm, Marina felt strangely at peace, a sense of contentment she couldn’t quite explain.

The light turned green, and Daron hit the gas, driving on.

“Not really, he replied.
Marina arched an eyebrow and said softly,
“Doesn’t this feel just like when we reunited a few months ago?”
Daron shot her a sideways look.
He saw the hopeful expression on her face, like she was really wishing he’d remember that moment.
So he just smiled in response.
“It’s kind of similar, but not quite the same,” Daron replied with a faint smile.
That was just a regular accident for those two.
But what happened between him and Marina was different.
That was all his deliberate doing.
