Chapter 508
Ever since the family dinner, Marina and Daron hadn’t seen Zara for quite a while.
Now that Zara was hanging around with Martin, everyone had to keep their guard up.
She was being way too quiet, which wasn’t like her at all.

Luckily, Bette had been keeping tabs on Martin and Zara, and would occasionally share some updates with Marina.
With Bette’s updates, Marina felt a lot more at ease.
A few days later.
The Zamora Group held an internal press conference.
This was the first press conference Martin had ever held since taking office.
Martin took this internal press conference very seriously.
As a shareholder, Daron was naturally on the guest list.
On the day of the press conference, Harris and Edmund showed up as well.
As Daron’s wife, Marina came along with him to the event.
When they arrived, Matthew was already sitting in the seat of honor.
When he saw Harris walk in, he got up with a forced smile and turned to greet him.
Harris, come on, have this seat,” he said.
Harris waved Matthew off, signaling for him to stay seated, his tone calm as he said, “It’s just a seat. Doesn’t matter who sits
here.
With that, Harris took the seat right next to Matthew.
Matthew hadn’t really planned to give up the spot anyway, so when Harris sat down, he just followed suit and settled back in
With a smile plastered on his face, Matthew leaned in, acting all chummy as he started whispering to Harris, giving him an
arly scoop on what the press conference was about.
Turns out, they’d already wrapped up the R&D for the new project in just a month.
Now all that was left was some testing and approvals, then it could hit the market.
As Marina listened to Matthew, she glanced over at the front row, checking out what was happening on that side.
She spotted a bunch of VIPS she’d only ever seen on TV-Martin had invited them all to this internal press conference.
It was clear how seriously Martin was taking this event.
The press conference kicked off.
Martin took the stage, looking sharp in a perfectly tailored black suit, ready to open the event.

As he spoke, his eyes kept darting over to Daron, as if he was watching Daron’s every reaction.
At the same time, the true nature of the Zamora Group’s new product was revealed.
When the heart of the product was revealed, Marina instinctively grabbed Daron’s hand.
She knew this project inside out.
This was the product Daron had been burning the midnight oil over in his study for weeks.
It was cutting-edge tech. If it worked, it could really change the world for the better.
And the core content Martin was presenting was identical to what Daron had been working on.
Daron gave Marina’s hand a gentle pat, then leaned over and whispered softly to her. “I’m fine.”
“When I was working on this project, the data never matched up,” he added quietly.
“Don’: forget, I’m the majority shareholder of Zamora Group. Martin’s basically working for me now.”
Marina exhaled slowly.
Daron gave her a reassuring smile.
Marina squeezed Daron’s hand a little tighter.
Martin stood on stage, full of swagger, grinning at the crowd before he started talking.
‘For all the technical details about this product, let’s have our manager, Zara, explain it to us. Give her a warm round of ipplause!”
As soon as Martin finished, Zara walked out from backstage and onto the stage.
She was rocking a tailored suit, her smile mature and self-assured. Gone was the awkwardness from before.
She owned the stage, talking like she was born for it.
She covered every detail of the project without missing a beat.
The reporters fired off question after question.
Zara fielded every one like a total pro, didn’t even break a sweat.
Martin stepped down from the stage, slid into the seat on Daron’s other side, grinning as he leaned over and said, “So, Daron, it’s been a while since you’ve seen Zara, huh? What do you think? She’s really come into her own, don’t you think?”
Daron shot Martin a sideways glance, his tone cool and indifferent.
“Looking like it and being it are worlds apart. She just looks the part, but she isn’t, is she?”
Martin let out a helpless laugh.
“Daron, whether you want to admit it or not, the facts speak for themselves. You can’t deny what’s right in front of you.”
Daron nodded, locking eyes with Martin, his tone flat and indifferent.

“Well, congratulations on your success. Hope you two don’t crash and burn,” he said.
With that, Daron took Marina’s hand and stood up.
Right then, the press conference wrapped up.
Zara stepped down from the stage, walking over to Marina and Daron with a slow, confident stride.
Zara put on a friendly smile and called out to Daron and Marina.
Hey Daron, hey Marina, glad you could make it…”

As she spoke, Zara offered her hand for a handshake, but Marina and Daron didn’t even look her way. They just walked right bast her.
Zara took a deep breath, her eyes flashing with frustration.
Her hand just hung there in the air, totally ignored.
Martin walked over to Zara, took her hand, and gave her a warm smile.
Congrats, you’re a real success now,” he said.
Lara’s lips curved into a smile as she looked up at Martin, her eyes shining with a hint of emotion.
Thanks,” she said softly.
If it weren’t for you, I never would’ve gotten this much attention.”
Martin smiled gently. “You worked hard for this. It’s all you, not me.”
There’s a special interview lined up just for you. Take a moment, get your head straight, and go knock it out.”
Cara nodded, and before leaving, she gave Martin a quick hug.
Martin, I really mean it, thank you,” she said softly. “It all feels so unreal.”
Martin let her hug him, gave her a soft smile as he looked down at her.
Just wait until tomorrow, when all the big headlines drop. That’s when it’ll start to feel real,” he said.
Cara nodded.
Matthew’s assistant came over and whispered something in Martin’s ear. Martin stepped back from Zara and said quietly, “I need to go over there for a bit.”
Zara nodded, watching Martin walk away.
She glanced in the direction he’d gone and spotted a woman in an apricot dress standing next to Matthew, looking classy and totally standing out from the crowd.
Zara looked away, then turned her gaze toward where Daron and Marina had left, her fingers curling tight at her sides, almost without her noticing.
But she quickly wiped the bitterness from her eyes and put on her best professional smile.

Just then, a reporter came over for an interview, so she pulled herself together and stepped right into the spotlight.
No matter what, she was on top now.
Rumor had it, the project Daron was working on still hadn’t been developed, and most of the data just didn’t measure up.
She had gotten ahead of Daron now,
She was going to prove to Daron that she was worth more than Marina.
She’d make Daron regret ever picking Marina over her.
