Chapter 511

“Garret, Zara, what are you two chatting about?” Martin asked as he walked in.

Martin entered with his entourage, pushing the door open.

Zara managed to stay calm when she saw someone come in.

But the very next moment, as soon as Martin finished speaking, a few reporters barged in through the doorway.

They started snapping photos of the documents on the table, and of Zara and Garret’s faces.

Zara started to freak out.

Her gaze darted to Martin, bewildered.

Martin just shook his head, telling her to keep quiet.

Even though Zara was on edge, at this point, all she could do was keep it together and stay silent.

The reporters immediately swarmed around Garret and Zara, bombarding them with questions.

Ms. Blanchard, is the file you handed to Mr. Lopez actually the detailed specs for the Zamora Group’s recently developed >roduct?” one reporter asked.

I heard Cloudstorm is also working on this project. Doesn’t this count as leaking company secrets?” another reporter ›ressed.

Zara bit down on her lip, not saying a single word.

Her eyes locked onto Martin, but he simply met her gaze with a calm, reassuring look.

No matter how many questions the reporters threw at her, Zara stayed silent.

Garret remained seated, his eyes locked on Martin, a mocking grin tugging at his lips.

Martin scoffed at Garret.

Garret, did Daron send you here to get this file from Zara?” Martin asked.

The Zamora Group and Cloudstorm are pretty much one and the same. If Daron wanted the project details, he could’ve ust asked me,” Martin added.

‘So what’s the point of all this?” Martin said with a smirk.

Seeing Martin was obviously trying to throw Daron under the bus, Garret said in a firm tone. “I’ve already quit Cloudstorm, so coming here to see Zara was my own business.”

“I never asked her to show me these files or documents,” Garret added. “I didn’t look at them.”

Martin chuckled. “Grandpa, do you really think anyone would believe Zara now?

“Sure, there were people around, but you two were in a private room. No one can say for sure whether you saw those files or not,” he continued.

“What you did is as good as proof of unfair competition and stealing Zamora Group’s trade secrets. I’m going to sue you and Cloudstorm, and have Cloudstorm’s project shut down,” Martin declared.

And with that, Martin dialed the cops right in front of Garret.

Garret scowled, fixing Martin with a hard, unyielding stare.

Martin snapped his fingers, and the reporters who had been grilling Zara left without a word.

As soon as the reporters left, Zara let out a heavy sigh of relief. She cast a sideways glance at Martin, her eyes briefly narrowing with irritation.

Martin put a finger to his lips, signaling for silence, and said softly.

“Step outside for a moment. Garret and I need to talk,” Martin said.

Zara gritted her teeth and left the room.

Martin shifted his gaze away from Zara, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. He pulled out a chair and sat down across from Garret.

‘Garret, after sticking with Daron all these years, you don’t even blink in a mess like this. Respect, you’re a real stand-up guy,” Martin said.

‘But even a stand-up guy needs to back the right horse if he wants to be a hero. You’ve been Daron’s assistant forever, and he’s your own cousin. Honestly, isn’t he holding out on you a little?” Martin added.

Garret met Martin’s gaze, his tone icy. “If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out.”

Martin set his phone down on the table and said quietly to Garret.

You ended up in my hands today, but honestly, I never really planned to give you a hard time,” Martin said.

You’re sharp, and back when you were at Zamora Group, you helped Daron out a ton. That’s why I want to have you work for me,” Martin added.

‘If you join me, I can offer you a vice president position,” Martin said.

Trust me, the perks are way better than what you ever got working for Daron,” Martin added.

Garret flashed Martin a grin.

‘So this whole show you put on today was just for that, huh?” Garret said.

Martin snorted sarcastically.

“Garret, no need to get upset. You know what they say, business is all about strategy and deception,” Martin said.

“Honestly, landing in my hands today isn’t really a loss for you. Maybe this is the chance for us to open up an even brighter future together,” Martin added.

“I heard your great-grandfather handed all the shares straight to Daron. Kathy, my aunt, didn’t get a single thing. Doesn’t that feel even a little unfair to you?” Martin asked.

Garret stayed silent, not answering Martin at all.

Martin immediately picked up his phone and looked at Garret.

“Garret, just give me a nod, and I’ll drop the charges right now,” Martin said.

“Cloudstorm is nothing but a small fry, not even close to the size of a Zamora Group branch. You need to wake up and see how things really are. After all this, do you really think Daron’s going to stick his neck out for you?” Martin added.

Garret still didn’t say a word.

Martin continued. “If you don’t believe me, let’s put it to the test. If you get hauled off today, Daron will wash his hands of you in a heartbeat.”

As he spoke, Martin rose from his seat.

“But if you ever hit rock bottom and have nowhere else to turn, Garret, you’ll always have a place with me,” Martin said, his tone casual.

With that, Martin headed out of the room.

Soon enough, the investigators arrived and escorted Garret out of the room.

Zara stood next to Martin, gripping his arm tightly, her tone clearly annoyed. “Why’d you have to bring the reporters? If this blows up, my whole public persona is toast.”

“You…” she started, trailing off.

Martin didn’t let Zara finish. He slipped his arm around her waist, his voice gentle.

“What are you so worried about? You’re about to become Mrs. Zamora. Losing a bit of reputation is no big deal, right?” Martin said.

“Besides, playing a role is what you do best, isn’t it?” Martin added.

“I’ve set up a whole new image for you. You’ll be the poor victim, screwed over by your ex, suddenly having a change of heart and taking the stand to call out everything Daron’s been up to. How’s that sound?” Martin said.

Zara’s brows knitted as she shot Martin a glare.

“That’s way too risky. No way,” Zara said.

Martin’s gentle smile faded, his gaze turning icy as he stared at Zara. He let out a cold snort.

“Not happening?” Martin mocked.

“You really think you get a say at this point? We’re way past that,” Martin sneered.

Zara drew in a sharp breath, shock flickering in her eyes as Martin’s words hit her.

Her head snapped up, meeting Martin’s gaze, cold as ice.

Martin caught the panic in her eyes, and a smile crept back onto his lips. He reached out and gently smoothed Zara’s hair, his tone softening again.

“Do you really think I’d ever hurt you?” Martin asked, his voice gentle.

“Didn’t you promise me you’d help me drag Daron straight to hell?” Martin pressed.

“If you testify in court, we can shut down his project for good,” Martin said.

“Once that happens, Cloudstorm won’t last long,” Martin added.

“You’ve always been the one looking up to him, but now it’s your shot. Flip the script and make him see you on top for once. Don’t you want to grab that chance?” Martin teased.
