Elnora led Albert into the living room, and Marina quickly got up from the sofa.
When Marina saw the bruises on Albert’s face, her eyes widened in surprise.
‘I can’t believe Zack actually had the nerve to go after Albert, Marina thought.

‘With Albert and Elnora’s wedding coming up soon, Zack is clearly just stirring up trouble for Elnora, Marina mused.
Marina, feeling frustrated, headed straight for the door.
Just then, Daron walked in from the yard. Noticing Marina was about to leave, he strode over, wrapped his arm around her waist, and asked gently, “Where are you going?”
Marina spoke in a low voice, “Has Zack left yet?”
Daron arched his brow with a teasing smile when he saw how angry she was.
“Not yet. You thinking of going out to rough him up?”
Marina gritted her teeth. “Can you go beat him up for me?”
Daron reached out and gently rubbed her head. He said, “He’s just a drunk. Hit him and he probably wouldn’t even feel it.
“Besides, your brother-in-law already gave him a lesson.”
Marina asked, “Did he win?”
Daron nodded. “Yeah, he won.”
Marina felt a bit more at ease.
“Good, that’s all that matters,” she said.
‘If Albert was already pissed and ended up losing the fight, Elnora’s days at the Campbell family would be hell, Marina thought.
Daron took Marina’s hand and led her inside.
“It’s windy out there. Let’s talk inside,” he said,
Marina nodded.
Inside, Elnora brought over the first aid kit, set it in front of Albert, took out some disinfectant, and found a cotton swab to hand to him.

Albert didn’t reach for the cotton swab Elnora handed him. Instead, he looked up at her and spoke.
“I can’t really see where the cut is,” Albert said.
Elnora glanced around. “I’ll find you a mirror.”
Albert was speechless for a moment. When he saw Elnora was actually about to go look for a mirror, he reached out and took her hand.
“Can you just do it for me?” he asked.
Elnora just stared at him, lost for words.
She just paused, looking at Albert.
Albert looked back at her, let out a sharp breath, and moved his face toward her.
“Hurry up,” he said.
Elnora finally bent down and started cleaning his wound.
Daron and Marina walked in and caught the scene.
Marina shot Daron a look, and he put a finger to his lips, gesturing for silence. Then, hand in hand, they slipped quietly past the living room and headed upstairs.
After Elnora finished disinfecting Albert’s wound and was about to stand up, Albert suddenly pulled her back, holding onto her arm.
“Ouch…” Albert complained, his brows furrowed as he looked up at her.
Elnora shot him a look, her brows knitting together.
“Should we get you checked at the hospital?” Elnora asked.
Albert was quiet for a moment, then teased, “Hey, Elnora, did no one ever blow on your cuts when you were a kid?”
Elnora didn’t respond, just gave him a frown.
Albert paused for a moment, a bit stunned by her reaction, then apologized.
“Sorry,” he said.
Elnora had been groomed by Cole to be his heir since she was a baby, practically raised right under his wing.
She almost never got hurt, and no one had ever blown on her cuts to make them feel better.
“It’s fine,” Elnora said.

She just set the disinfectant aside and started putting the first aid kit away.
Albert watched her in silence.
An awkward silence hung in the air for a moment.

Gauri walked in from outside. Seeing Elnora about to put away the first aid kit, she stepped over and took it from her, saying softly, “Ms. Elnora, let me handle it.”
Elnora nodded, then glanced at Albert sitting on the sofa and said in a calm voice, “Gauri, go get Mr. Campbell’s guest room ready.”
Gauri nodded.
Albert lifted his gaze to Elnora, stubbornly declaring, “I’m not sleeping in the guest room.”
Elnora just stared at him, lost for words.
She looked a bit awkward.
Albert remembered how Elnora had sent him to the guest room in the middle of the night last time.
She’d let him into her bed, but as soon as things started to get intimate, she just made him leave.
Both Daron and Marina were staying over tonight.
The last thing Albert wanted was to get caught leaving the guest room the next morning.
“I’ll just head back to my hotel,” Albert said.
Gauri quickly chimed in, “It’s already so late, Mr. Campbell. Why not just spend the night here at Finley place?”
Albert had been waiting for Gauri to say that, and he jumped in right away.
“I’m not sleeping in the living room,” he said.
Gauri froze for a second, not daring to say another word.
‘If he’s not sleeping in the living room, then he must want to sleep in the master bedroom, Gauri thought.
The master bedroom belonged to Elnora.
Albert fixed his gaze on Elnora.
Elnora didn’t say a word.
Albert stood up from the sofa and spoke up.
“Alright, I’ll head back to the hotel. I need to return to Port City early tomorrow for the wedding arrangements,” Albert said.

With all the drama Zack stirred up tonight, there was no telling what kind of nasty rumors about Elnora will be circulating by tomorrow morning.
If Albert left Finley place in the middle of the night, the gossip would spread like wildfire.
Albert stood up, grabbed his coat, and was about to head out.
Elnora paused for a few seconds, then finally spoke up, stopping him.
“Sleep in my room tonight,” Elnora said.
Albert replied, “Only if you’re sure.”
Elnora met his gaze. “I’m really okay with it.”
Albert set his suit jacket down, pretending to stay calm, but couldn’t hide the smile creeping onto his face.
Gauri led Albert to Elnora’s room and even brought him a fresh set of men’s pajamas.
Feeling pretty pleased with himself, Albert headed into the bathroom for a shower.
He lay down on the bed, the subtle fragrance Elnora left behind filling his senses, and for a while, he just got lost in it.
He waited and waited, but Elnora still didn’t come in.
Albert got up to look for her, and the only light he saw was coming from the study.
He headed over and found Elnora at her desk, totally lost in her documents.
Albert raised his hand and knocked on the door.
Elnora finally looked up, as if pulled from her thoughts, and met his gaze,
“So, Elnora, are you seriously planning to stay up all night in here just to dodge me?” Albert teased.
Elnora set the documents aside and answered in a calm voice, “I’m not working. Mom said after the wedding,
I should start at the Campbell Group, so I’m just getting familiar with things.”
Albert strolled over and paused right next to her.
He bent down, picked up the documents from the desk, and started flipping through them.
Elnora sat in her office chair, her body a little tense.

She couldn’t tell if Albert was doing it on purpose, but when he leaned in from behind, his presence loomed over her, making it feel as if she was wrapped up in his arms.
“If you want to get up to speed on the Campbell Group, just ask me. I know the ins and outs,” Albert said.
“Which department does your mom want you to start in?” Albert asked.
Elnora replied, “Mom said I should start at Starlight Entertainment, just to get a feel for it. Since the Finley Group is moving into entertainment, it’ll make it easier for me to practice and handle things myself down the line.”
Albert raised an eyebrow, pulled his hand back, and didn’t say anything.
