After seeing the way Stella acted last night, James instantly made up his mind not to work with her.

He didn’t even wait until morning to respond. Before the party was even over, he had his assistant send the

message.

He felt Stella’s energy just didn’t fit with their winery.

But that was just a convenient excuse.

The real reason? James simply didn’t take Stella seriously.

He was worried that Stella’s unpredictable actions might end up hurting his brand’s image.

Stella’s voice fell, disappointment evident in her tone.

“Really? What did Mr. Brewer say?” she asked. “Kamron, could you give it another shot for me?”

Stella had come to Vuplariland claiming it was for work.

If she ended up returning without accomplishing anything, she couldn’t help but wonder if she’d leave a bad impression on Albert.

“There’s really nothing I can do. Mr. Brewer is stubborn. Once he decides you’re not the right fit, he won’t reconsider, no matter what,” Kamron said.

“Stella, just let it go. Maybe this brand just wasn’t meant for you,” he added.

Kamron’s voice was flat, showing no emotion at all.

Stella wasn’t ready to give up just yet.

She knew James had plenty of high-end brands under his name.

That was why she’d set her sights on starting with one of his smaller brands. If she could impress him there, she believed she’d have a real chance to become the face of his luxury labels in the future.

But now, everything had fallen apart.

Ever since she had that drink last night, nothing seemed to go her way.

Stella felt miserable.

She just couldn’t bring herself to give up.

“Kamron, if I just walk away now, I might lose any chance of working with Mr. Brewer in the future. Can you talk to him for me? Maybe explain things?” Stella asked.

Kamron didn’t let her finish, cutting her off in a calm, detached tone. “Stella, there’s really nothing I can say.

Just let it go. Next time, I’ll set you up with another gig.”

Stella fell silent.

Kamron’s tone remained calm as he added, “I’ve already arranged your flight back to Port City. Someone will escort you to the airport shortly.”

Stella’s hand tightened around her phone as she suddenly remembered Kamron had promised to help her

out.

“Kamron, about that investment you said you’d make… does that still count?” she asked.

She was scared she’d end up losing Kamron as her backer, too.

Right now, all she wanted was to cling to Kamron and not let him slip away.

That

way,

when she got back to Port City, she’d finally have the guts to make that bet with Elnora.

Kamron smiled as he answered.

“Of course it does,” he replied.

Stella pressed further.

“So… can I still sign the wager contract with Elnora?” she asked.

Kamron replied, “Of course, but I need to be present when you sign it.”

Stella looked a bit puzzled.

Kamron continued, “I’m just worried someone might try to screw you over.”

Kamron’s answer finally put Stella at ease..

“So… are you coming to Port City with me?” Stella asked, her eyes full of hope.

Kamron said, “I’ll come over in three days. You’ve scheduled to sign the contract with Elnora in three days.”

Stella nodded in agreement.

“Okay,” she said.

Stella thought, ‘Thank goodness I still have Kamron by my side. He’s like my knight.

‘If it weren’t for him, I’d probably get completely destroyed by Elnora.

‘I’d never be able to hold my head up at Supernova Entertainment again.

“Thank you, Kamron. You’re so good to me,” Stella murmured.

“If only I’d met you earlier,” she added, her voice barely above a whisper.

On the other end, Kamron just chuckled softly, not saying a word.

Most of the time, Stella could never quite figure out what Kamron was thinking.

But as long as he was there to support her, that was enough.

At this point, there was really no one else left she could turn to.

After work, Elnora didn’t head back to Southview Residence.

Instead, she had her driver take her to an apartment near Supernova Entertainment.

The driver, knowing Elnora’s personality, didn’t ask any questions and just drove her there.

Before his flight took off, Albert gave Elnora a call.

Elnora didn’t answer. Instead, she took her phone off silent mode and lay down to rest.

Albert took a red-eye flight back to Port City.

By the time he arrived at Southview Residence, it was already deep into the night.

Elnora’s bedroom door was firmly closed.

He paused outside, hesitating for a moment, but ultimately, he chose not to disturb her.

Elnora had already not been feeling well these days.

The next morning, Albert got up early.

He sat on the couch downstairs, flipping through a magazine, but his eyes kept glancing at his watch.

He waited until the usual time Elnora would come downstairs, but she still hadn’t appeared. Albert grew worried.

He set the magazine aside and walked upstairs.

Albert knocked on the door and asked, “Are you up yet, Ms. Finley?”

There was no response from inside.

Albert knocked again.

Still, there was no sound from within.

A flicker of confusion flashed in Albert’s eyes as he remembered how Elnora looked when she was sick before. For no reason, a sense of panic welled up inside him, and he quickly called out.

“Ms. Finley, I’m coming in,” he said.

Albert pushed the door open and stepped inside, but Elnora was nowhere to be seen.

The bed was perfectly made, not a single wrinkle, like no one had slept there at all last night.

Albert’s brows drew together in a frown.

Sharon came out of the dining room carrying breakfast and set it on the table, just in time to see Albert coming downstairs, his face dark and serious.

Seeing his troubled expression, a flicker of confusion crossed Sharon’s eyes.

Last night, she’d helped Albert with his luggage when he got back.

He’d been in such a good mood then-she could clearly sense it.

This early in the morning, he was already looking angry.

‘Wow, his mood really flipped fast, Sharon thought to herself.

“What time did Ms. Finley head out this morning?” Albert asked.

He never even considered that Elnora hadn’t come home last night. He just figured she must have left early today.

Sharon hurried to explain, “Ms. Finley didn’t come home last night. Didn’t she mention anything to you?”

Albert’s expression turned stormy.

‘If Elnora had actually told me, I wouldn’t be standing here asking,’ Albert thought.

Sharon paused, realizing she’d messed up, and hurried to explain.

“Ms. Finley finished work pretty late last night, so she ended up staying at her apartment near Supernova Entertainment,” she said.

“She called me last night, but I forgot to tell you right away. That’s on me,” she added.

Albert’s brows furrowed, his expression turning grim as he headed straight for the door.

Sharon hurried after him, calling out, “Mr. Campbell, aren’t you going to eat breakfast?”

“Not eating,” Albert said curtly.

He’d rushed back last night, totally thrilled, but was so worried about waking her up that he spent the whole night holding himself back and didn’t even go over to say hi.

He got up early this morning, hoping to see her and talk for a bit.

Turned out, Elnora never even came home last night.

:..

All the hope and uncertainty he’d felt last night. Now it just seemed like a complete joke.

Albert was so frustrated that his chest was still rising and falling as he got into the car.

His new wife really treated him like he didn’t matter at all.
