Chapter 601

Stella’s eyes were red, like she’d just been publicly shamed by Elnora.

Albert frowned; his eyes grew cold.

Elnora remained seated, glancing up at Stella, who looked completely innocent. Her tone was flat.

“Ms. Taylor, don’t be so sensitive,” Elnora said.

Stella was about to speak when Albert, sitting next to Elnora, glanced up at her and said coldly, “If you’re so insecure that you see every normal conversation as a veiled jab, maybe this circle just isn’t for you.”

His voice carried no emotion, only cold indifference.

Stella froze, her face going pale.

“I…” Stella managed.

She wanted to explain herself, but the words stuck in her throat.

She just wanted Albert to notice how Elnora was picking on her.

But instead, Albert had taken Elnora’s side.

Stella bit down on her lip, holding back anything she might’ve said.

Albert and Elnora both grew quiet, barely saying a word for the rest of the meal.

By the time dinner was over, Elnora was still as calm as when she arrived, but everyone else had a hint of unhappiness on their faces.

As they walked out of the restaurant, Kamron suggested they hit up another spot.

“Albert, it’s not every day I’m back in Port City. You have to stick with me tonight and make sure we don’t leave until we’re both wasted. Let’s go find somewhere else and really let loose,” Kamron said.

Albert didn’t answer right away. Instead, he glanced over at Elnora, who was off to the side, talking on her phone.

When Elnora finished her call, she glanced sideways and happened to catch Albert watching her.

Kamron looked like he wasn’t ready to call it a night, but Elnora checked her watch and walked over to the

group.

Before Kamron could say anything, Elnora spoke up first.

“It’s getting late. I’m heading home, so I won’t be tagging along for the next stop. Mr. Nguyen, I’ll take my leave,” she said.

Kamron glanced at Elnora, a smile on his face as he nodded.

“Alright,” he said.

“Take care, Ms. Finley,” he added.

Elnora nodded slightly, and the Campbell family’s driver pulled up in front of the restaurant.

The driver stepped out to open the door for her.

Elnora ducked into the car.

Albert was about to walk over when Kamron grabbed his arm.

“Albert, Ms. Finley didn’t ask you to go with her. You’re not seriously ditching your buddies for her, are you?” Kamron said with a smirk.

Stella chimed in to back him up.

“Albert, Arnauld’s invited Kaelin and Benedict too. It’s not every day he’s back in Port City. What’s the rush to leave?”

“Ms. Finley’s reasonable. She’ll definitely understand,” she added.

Albert looked pissed.

Elnora glanced over at him and said coolly, “Have fun.”

“Have fun,” she said.

Albert’s face was still sour, and when he saw Elnora had zero intention of taking him home, he instantly deflated.

Elnora quickly shifted her gaze away from Albert and instructed the driver, “Drive.”

“Drive,” she said.

The driver nodded and pulled away from the restaurant.

Albert stood there, watching as Elnora’s car drove away, his gaze lingering in the direction she left.

Kamron walked up and placed a hand on Albert’s shoulder.

“Ms. Finley’s really got a strong personality,” Kamron remarked.

“Women like her need someone to take her down a notch.

“Just let her cool off for a bit; she’ll come around,” he added.

Albert gave Kamron a sharp elbow to the chest and said coldly, “What crap are you talking about?”

Albert shot him a look, sounding totally indifferent.

“Arnauld, you’re not exactly being a stand-up friend yourself,” Albert said.

Kamron just kept grinning, like he didn’t get the hint at all.

“Get a wife and suddenly your bros don’t matter, huh? Way to go,” Kamron teased.

Albert leaned back in his seat, looking at Kamron.

“You know I’m married, but you still brought her to dinner just to stir up drama? That’s not what bros do,” Albert said.

Kamron’s face fell a bit.

“Wait, you’re actually serious?” he asked.

Albert shot him a look. “If I wasn’t, what would be the point of getting married?”

Kamron let out a laugh. “Seriously, man, in our crowd, getting married doesn’t mean you stop having your own fun. Everyone does their own thing. It’s not a big deal.”

“And hey, you were the one who asked me to keep Stella company before. I was just following your lead…” he added.

Albert cut him off. “That was before. Things are different now. I’ve got a wife.”

Kamron was left speechless.

Stella stood just a few steps behind Kamron, hearing every word Albert said, clear as day.

“Bye,” Albert said.

He looked away from Kamron and gave the driver the signal.

The driver started the car.

Kamron pulled his hand back from the window.

Stella stood off to the side, her face pale as a sheet, not saying a word.

Once the cab pulled away, Kamron shot Stella a look and said, deadpan, “Get yourself a cab and head home.”

Stella froze for a second, then followed after Kamron as he walked away.

“Kamron, do you think I’m really that useless?” she asked quietly.

Kamron nodded absentmindedly.

“A little bit, yeah,” he said.
