Chapter 602

Stella stood there, lost in confusion, unable to figure things out for ages.

It wasn’t until the sky started to drizzle that Stella was jolted back to reality.

She took a deep breath, a hint of defiance flashing in her eyes.

‘Albert is experiencing a temporary fascination with Elnora.

‘Elnora isn’t even his type. When the thrill is gone, Albert would come back to me,’ she thought.

Stella tried to reassure herself, but she just couldn’t bring herself to accept the fact that Albert might have actually fallen for Elnora.

When Elnora got back to the villa, she went straight upstairs to freshen up.

Usually, the housekeeper would bring her water upstairs before she freshened up, so she wouldn’t have to go downstairs in the middle of the night if she got thirsty.

But today, the housekeeper was off and had gone home.

After freshening up, Elnora had to go downstairs herself to get herself a drink.

When Albert got back, he saw Elnora standing by the water dispenser in the dining room, sipping from a glass.

She was wearing a black spaghetti strap nightgown.

The hem of the dress just grazed the tops of her thighs.

Elnora was always buttoned up in suits and shirts, never showing any skin.

But now, her exposed skin looked so pale, it almost seemed to glow in the light.

As Albert was changing his shoes, he found himself glancing at Elnora a few more times than usual.

After finishing her water, Elnora glanced up at Albert, who was changing his shoes by the front door.

She didn’t say a word. She just set down her glass and turned to head upstairs.

But as she turned, the soles of her slippers were still damp from just washing up, and she slipped. A sharp pain shot through her ankle.

Albert didn’t notice what happened to Elnora. To avoid meeting her gaze, he looked away the moment she set down her glass.

Just thinking about how Elnora had left him standing alone outside the restaurant, and didn’t care at all about him hanging out with Stella, made Albert feel a knot in his chest.

He didn’t say anything to Elnora, keeping his eyes straight ahead and acting like he didn’t see her as he headed upstairs.

Elnora shot Albert a look but kept quiet, just taking two steps forward.

Those two steps made the pain in her ankle almost unbearable.

She instantly furrowed her brows.

Tomorrow, she still had to accompany Reese to the charity gala.

Reese had someone deliver a dress today. It was an apricot-colored dress with a cutout design in the back.

For a dress like that, only a pair of heels could really make her stand out.

If she pushed through the pain and went upstairs now, her ankle might be killing her tomorrow.

Elnora glanced up at Albert, who was already at the top of the stairs, and spoke up.

“Albert.”

She called his name, hoping he’d notice.

Albert stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her.

Elnora gripped the chair with one hand, looking up at him, her eyes carrying a hint of seriousness.

Seeing her face so pale, Albert suddenly felt worried.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

Elnora said, “Come here and help me.”

It wasn’t a request. It was a command.

Albert reacted instantly. As soon as she called out, he started down the stairs without a second thought.

He took the steps two at a time, rushing to get to her.

When he reached Elnora, he immediately crouched down and looked at her ankle.

“Did you twist your ankle?” he asked.

Elnora responded with a cool “Mm-hmm,” her tone as calm and distant as ever.

“I have to go to a charity event with Kathy tomorrow, and I’ll need to wear heels. I can’t afford to make my

ankle any worse. So help me,” she said, her voice leaving no room for argument.

She made it clear why she needed him-no unnecessary explanations, just straight to the point.

Albert clicked his tongue and pulled out a chair for Elnora to sit.

“Let me take a look,” he said.

Elnora didn’t sit right away. She just shot him a look and said, “I can handle the medicine myself later.”

Albert frowned, glancing up at her.

“Sit down!” Albert’s voice was sharp and commanding.

His tone left no room for argument.

Elnora hesitated for a moment, but didn’t bother to push back. She simply took a seat.

Once she was seated, Albert asked, “Which foot is it?”

Elnora stayed silent, her toes curling in embarrassment.

‘Why am I so awkward about this?’ she thought, feeling a bit self-conscious.

Albert noticed her little move, a smile tugging at his lips as he reached for her injured foot without hesitation to check it over.

He lifted Elnora’s foot, and when he looked closely, he saw her ankle was visibly swollen and red.

Elnora instinctively tried to pull her foot back.

But Albert kept hold of her foot, gentle but refusing to let go.

“Don’t move,” Albert said, his voice deep and serious.

He was careful with his grip, making sure not to hurt her.

Elnora stopped moving.

Albert carefully felt around her ankle, his touch gentle and cautious.

“Does it hurt?” he asked.

Elnora’s hand at her side clenched slightly.

“It’s not too bad,” she replied.

Albert applied a bit more pressure.

“How about now?” he asked.

Elnora endured the pain, her voice turning husky. “Yeah, a little.”

Hearing her tone, Albert felt a stir in his chest and looked up at the woman in front of him.

Elnora looked down at him.

Their eyes locked for a brief moment, and Albert looked away, coughing awkwardly.

“Stay put, I’ll grab the medicine,” he said.

Elnora nodded, agreeing.

When Albert came back with the medicine, he saw Elnora sitting patiently in the chair, waiting for him.

Her hands were draped over the back of the chair, chin resting on her arms, and for once, she looked so soft and approachable.

When she saw him return with the medicine, she gave him a small, apologetic smile.

“Thanks for the trouble,” she said.

Albert felt his heart race in that moment.

He walked over, crouched down, and gently took her injured foot in his hands. After applying the medicine, he started to rub it for her.

Elnora’s body tensed up slightly.

Albert glanced up at her, a teasing smile on his lips.

“Is this really the first time a guy’s ever touched your foot, Ms. Finley?” he said.

Elnora didn’t deny it. She just looked down at Albert, her tone casual as she asked, “Mr. Campbell, do you often give other women foot massages?”

Albert was caught off guard by her question and could only respond with a helpless smile.

“Ms. Finley, questions like that aren’t exactly adorable,” he shot back.

Elnora’s voice stayed cool. “Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Campbell, but cute isn’t really my thing.”

“So, do you give other women foot massages a lot? You’re pretty skilled at it. Guess I’m just benefiting from someone else’s experience,” she added lightly, a hint of sarcasm in her tone.

Albert applied a bit more pressure, and Elnora let out a soft gasp, her brows knitting together.

Albert’s heart skipped a beat. It was rare to hear Elnora make a sound like that, and it stirred something unexpected inside him.

‘Man, I really brought this on myself, Albert thought, feeling exasperated.

Albert just looked exasperated.

Elnora frowned, about to pull her foot away.

Albert caught her foot before she could pull back.

“No. I’ve never done this for anyone else. You’re the only one who gets this kind of special treatment,” he said, his tone a little softer.

‘Only my wife gets this kind of attention from me,’ Albert thought.

‘Why should any other woman deserve this?’ Albert thought, a hint of possessiveness in his mind.

“Does that answer satisfy you, Ms. Finley?” Albert asked, his tone teasing and confident.

He continued to gently massage her ankle.

Elnora nodded softly, then replied to Albert.

“Mm, I’m very satisfied.”
