Chapter 613

Early the next morning, when Elnora woke up and came downstairs, Albert was already seated in the dining room, waiting for her to join him for breakfast.

Belinda spotted Elnora coming down and promptly brought out her portion of breakfast, placing it on the table.

Today’s breakfast featured hard-boiled eggs.

As Belinda went to wash her hands, ready to peel the egg for Elnora, Albert had already grabbed the egg from her plate.

After peeling it, he set it back in front of Elnora and said, “I’ll head to the influencer base with you later.”

Elnora looked up at Albert and said quietly, “Weren’t you supposed to be at Campbell Group headquarters for a meeting today?”

Albert realized he’d forgotten about it until Elnora brought it up. A smile played at his lips as he looked at her.

“Looks like you’re paying close attention to my schedule,” Albert teased.

Elnora shot him a look and replied, “I was with Reese yesterday, and she mentioned it.”

Albert raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

Elnora ate her breakfast at a leisurely pace, unhurried and calm.

Once she finished, she stood up and headed out.

Albert put down his spoon and offered, “Let me drive you.”

Elnora waved him off. “No need, Elara’s already waiting outside.”

She walked over to the shoe cabinet and bent down to change her shoes.

Albert watched her leave, let out a soft “tsk”, but didn’t go after her.

He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching as Elnora walked out of the house, crossed the yard, and got into Elara’s

car.

Over the next few days, Elnora was swamped with work.

There were problems at the influencer incubation company, and they were far from trivial.

Albert would spot Elnora around the office now and then, but she’d breeze right past him, busy talking with Elara and looking all serious.

Ever since Stella embarrassed herself at the charity party, she’d been keeping a much lower profile.

Instead of constantly trying to get Elnora and Albert’s attention like before, she threw herself into her work

It wasn’t until Elnora filed a lawsuit against the higher-ups at the influencer incubator that Stella fmally showed up in front

of her.

Elnora had just finished dealing with some paperwork when Stella burst into her office, looking flustered

“Ms Finley, Stella called out, “there must be some misunderstanding about Nelson. Please, give him another chance”

Elnora didn’t answer Stella. She just frowned slightly.

Elara’s gaze turned icy as she said coldly. “Don’t you know you’re supposed to knock before coming in?”

Stella bit down on her lip, her eyes full of pleading as she looked at Elnora. “Ms. Finley…”

Elnora set down her custom pen and shot Stella an indifferent glance, her eyes betraying no emotion.

“Since it’s just a misunderstanding and we’re only in the investigation phase, what exactly are you so afraid of, Ms. Taylor** Elnora said coolly.

Nelson Taylor was Stella’s cousin, and pretty much everyone handling things at the influencer incubator was from the Taylor Family.

These folks had all been brought in by Stella back when she was dating Albert.

But for some reason, none of them ended up at Supernova Entertainment. They were all shuffled over to this new company instead.

Originally, the past few years marked the very rise of the internet era. Many influencers amassed substantial wealth, yet this company, founded at the dawn of this digital age, remained perpetually stagnant and barely survived.

From what Elnora knew, the company even had a few well-known streamers on its roster.

By all accounts, it should be raking in the cash.

However, after comparing the financial statements, Elnora found many issues.

First, in terms of finances, and then on the accounting records.

Expenses were way too high.

Any money that came in from donations was spent almost immediately, turning right back into expenses.

Their methods reminded Elnora of money laundering.

This was no small issue.

It was Supernova Entertainment that owned this company.

And Supernova Entertainment was deeply connected with Campbell Group.

If this small company ever got into trouble, both Supernova Entertainment and Campbell Group would be affected

Since Reese had entrusted her with Supernova Entertainment, and now that these problems had come to light, it was only natural for Elnora to take charge and handle them.

Regardless of whatever part Albert played in all this, Elnora was determined to see it through and make sure everything was handled properly.

Stella’s face drained of color. She bit her lip, steeling herself as she forced herself to meet Elnora’s gaze

“Ms. Finley,” she said, “is this all because of the wager contract? You’ve never liked me, but you promised you’d be tan about

  1. You don’t want to give people anything to gossip about, so you’re just finding other ways to push me down

“You know Nelson and the others are all my family, so you’re targeting them because of me-

Elnora raised her hand, cutting Stella off. “Ms. Taylor, you really overestimate your importance.

“I wouldn’t waste that much energy on you. This influencer company is suspected of breaking the law. If things go south, the fallout for Supernova Entertainment and Campbell Group could be massive.

“Compared to all that, the wager contract we signed is just a little drama.

“I’m definitely going to deal with them, and it’s got nothing to do with you.”

Stella was left speechless by Elnora’s sharp retort.

She stood frozen in place, eyes rimmed red, looking for all the world like Elnora had just bullied her.

When Albert passed by Elnora’s office door, he saw such a scene. He raised his hand and knocked on the office door, asking. “Ms. Finley, do you need any help?”

Elnora shot Albert a look but stayed silent.

At the same moment, Stella looked at Albert with tearful eyes, looking like a kicked puppy.

“Albert, Ms. Finley called the cops and had Nelson arrested,” Stella said, her voice trembling.

Nelson was the oldest grandson in the Taylor Family’s main branch, and also Stella’s cousin.

As soon as Nelson was taken away, the Taylor Family bombarded Stella’s phone with calls, pressuring her hard to do something about it.

Albert shot Stella a glance, then walked over to Elnora, pulled out the chair across from her, sat down, and asked, “Word is, they’re laundering money?”

Elnora nodded, her tone steady. “I’ve already submitted all the evidence.”

Albert nodded, keeping quiet and not adding anything else.

Stella bit her lip, realizing Albert had no intention of helping Nelson. So she said quickly, “Albert, my cousin might’ve been set up. There’s got to be some mistake. You know what kind of person he is. He’d never do something like this.

“When you first started this company and put him in charge, he was so dedicated to it. You know that better than anyone

“Please, just give him another chance. If he ends up in jail, his whole life will be ruined. My uncle thinks the world of him. If anything happens, I’ll never be able to survive in the Taylor Family anymore.”

As Stella spoke, tears streamed down her face, and she looked absolutely heartbroken.

Elara watched Stella crying, frowning in obvious disgust.

Is the Taylor Family really all that great?’ Elara thought to herself. “They never actually do anything useful for Stella Honestly, if she just cut ties with them, maybe she’d finally start living a good life!
