With Kailee speaking up, even though everyone was still upset, no one dared to say another word.
Everyone just focused on their food, heads down.
Stella bit her lip hard, her eyes rimmed with red from Kailee’s words. She sat there quietly, not saying a single word, looking more withdrawn than ever.
She barely touched her fork, kept her head down, barely lifting it from her plate the entire meal.
Everyone shot her sympathetic glances.

After lunch, the students pitched in to clean up the dining room.
Meanwhile, Elnora was out in the front yard, admiring the plants Kailee had grown.
Stella made her way over to Elnora, her eyes still red, and quietly apologized, “Ms. Finley, I’m sorry about the fork thing earlier. I really didn’t mean to leave you out, I…”
She usually didn’t like to interrupt people when they were talking.
But hearing the same excuse too many times could get pretty annoying.
Elnora glanced at her and said, “Ms. Taylor, didn’t you already say all that at lunch?”
Stella bit her lip and said softly, “I was just worried you might be upset, so I wanted to clear things up again. I just mean, in past years…”
Elnora kept her tone light. “I’m not the type to hold grudges. You really don’t need to explain again. It’s no big deal, really.”
Stella took a deep breath, looked up at Elnora, and said softly, “Ms. Fuller already scolded us earlier. Everyone’s honestly a little afraid of upsetting you.
“Ms. Finley, I just hope you won’t take it out on everyone because of my mistake…”
Elnora’s expression stayed unchanged as she looked at Stella.
This time, she didn’t interrupt.
But Stella couldn’t get the rest of her words out.
“Are you afraid I’ll take it out on them?” Elnora asked.
Stella bit her lip; her silence said it all.
Elnora gave a faint smile, looking at Stella, and said, “Ms. Taylor, my life is nothing like yours. I’ve got much bigger things to worry about. Maybe a business deal worth hundreds of millions, or a contract that needs to be renewed.

“But I’d never waste my energy on something as insignificant as someone forgetting a fork.
“My upbringing and mindset wouldn’t let me demean myself with something so petty. So, Ms. Taylor. you’re really overthinking it.”
Stella stared at Elnora’s calm face for a long moment. She parted her lips, but couldn’t find a single word to say back.
Elnora had made it crystal clear.
She wasn’t going to hold a grudge.
She didn’t even care enough to bother.
She wasn’t about to waste her energy on something so trivial.
Elnora was blatantly dismissing her, making it clear she thought little of her.
Maybe from the start, Elnora had never considered her competition because she was never even in the same league as Elnora.
Stella bit down on her lip, her lips turning pale from the pressure.
Elnora gave her a brief look before turning away.
At that moment, Elara called. Elnora turned away to take the call.
Stella stood behind Elnora, almost in her shadow, looking timid and out of place-a sharp contrast to Elnora, who stood tall and confident.
Albert was up on the second-floor balcony, watching everything unfold below.
Harvey, standing next to Albert, immediately started stirring the pot.
“What are Ms. Finley and Stella talking about?” Harvey asked. “Is she going off on Stella about the fork thing from earlier?
“Albert, even if Ms. Finley is your wife, you can’t just let her bully Stella like that, can you?”
Albert shot Harvey a cold look.
“What, you got ears like a bat or something?” Albert said.
Harvey blinked, confused. “Huh?”
Albert said, “You can hear them talking from way over here? Seriously, you must have some kind of bionic ears.”
Harvey’s face stiffened, and he quickly said, “Come on, it’s obvious. Ms. Finley acts all high and mighty, she’s totally-”
“And what’s so bad about being above it all? You want everyone to be as pathetic as Stella?” Albert shot
back.

Harvey was taken aback.

Albert shot him a cold look and said, “You really think Ms. Finley would ever suck up to you guys like Stella does? Did you not get enough sleep last night, or are you just dreaming?”
Harvey’s face went pale. He wanted to say something, but when he saw the cold look in Albert’s eyes, he shut up.
Albert continued, “Stella’s done plenty for you guys over the years, hasn’t she?
“Only someone as clueless as her would waste time trying to stay on your good side. Seriously, do any of you even have any real value?”
Harvey’s face went ghostly pale.
Albert’s voice was icy. “The only reason you get any respect is because of Kailee. Don’t take kindness for weakness, and don’t get cocky thinking you can call the shots.”
Harvey was completely shut down by Albert’s words, left unable to say a single thing.
He bit his lip so hard it almost hurt, staring at Albert.
Being humiliated like that in front of everyone was just too much for him to handle. His composure broke, tears streaming down his face as he fled to the bathroom.
The other students hurried over to comfort him.
Some of the students shot Albert a dirty look and muttered, “Come on, Albert, you didn’t have to go that
hard.”
Albert shot her a cold look, his voice flat and emotionless.
“You’re a loser too,” he said.
One of the students was left speechless, just staring in silence.
The girl who tried to stand up for Harvey turned bright red, stammering, but she couldn’t get a single full
sentence out.
Albert glanced at them with a blank, indifferent expression, then turned and headed downstairs.
After hanging up with Elara, Elnora was about to walk away.
Stella called after her, stopping her in her tracks. “Ms. Finley, our lives really are worlds apart. I heard you were raised as the heir since you were a kid.
“Your life has always been bright and privileged. You probably never had to face any scorn or contempt.
“I’m just an illegitimate child, and I’ve never had much to call my own. That’s why I’m so desperate to cling to whatever little I once had.”
Elnora paused, quietly listening as Stella continued.
Stella bit down on her lip, her whole expression clouded with pain.

She said, “Albert is that rare light that managed to shine into the darkness of my
life.
“Ms. Finley, maybe you can’t really get what it’s like to cling so desperately to something, or understand why I act the way I do.”
Elnora just stayed quiet.
Stella quickly wiped her tears away and continued, “Albert and I were truly in love for so many years. The breakup was all on me. I was the one who self-sabotaged and pushed him away.
“I’ve been full of regret ever since. Ms. Finley, you’ve already got everything anyone could ever want. Can’t you just give Albert back to me?
“I know you only married Albert for the sake of business, not because you actually care about him. But it’s different for me. Albert and I really loved each other. Please, I’m begging you, let us have a chance to be together.”
Elnora just looked at Stella, saying nothing.
Just as Stella was about to say more, a chill ran down her spine.
The next second, a cold male voice cut through the silence. “When did we ever fall in love?”
