Chapter 629
Chapter 629
00:08:49
When Stella heard Albert’s voice, her hand stopped in mid-motion, the act of wiping her tears suddenly frozen as if someone had hit pause.
She stiffly turned around, only to find Albert standing a short distance behind her, his face completely unreadable.
Stella was left in shock, her mind blank for a moment.
She bit down hard on her lip and shot a look at Elnora, her eyes flickering with a trace of blame and emotions that were impossible to decipher.
She never thought Albert would actually walk over here.
And she never expected Elnora to just stand there without saying a single word.
Elnora’s expression stayed completely unfazed the whole time.
Albert fixed Stella with a cold, indifferent stare. “Would it kill you to have some dignity? You know better than anyone what things are like between us.”
Stella bit her lip, her eyes red as she looked at Albert.
Elnora, unfazed, shifted her gaze from Stella to Albert and said in a calm tone, “Something came up at work, so I need to head back. Could you let Kailee know for me?”
Albert gave a slight nod, watching her leave.
Stella bit her lip, saw Albert’s eyes fixed on Elnora, and couldn’t help but speak up. “Albert, you saw it yourself. Ms. Finley doesn’t care about you at all.
“Any other woman would’ve reacted to what I said to her just now, but she didn’t even flinch. That just shows her heart was never with you. I’m the only one who truly loves you.”
Albert gave Stella a cold, indifferent glance and spoke in a deep, serious tone. “So what you’re saying is, you went behind my back and said all that to my wife-not to stir things up between us, but to help me test whether she truly loves me?”
Stella bit her lip, saying nothing.
She could hear the sarcasm in Albert’s tone.
Albert shot Stella a cold, emotionless look and said coldly, “Ms. Taylor, let me make one thing clear. My patience has limits. Maybe I used to have a little sympathy for you, but whatever mercy I had has been worn away over the years.
“If you keep spouting nonsense and trying to mess with me and my wife, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
This was the most brutal thing Albert had said to Stella since their breakup.
Stella looked terrified and stunned, staring at him in disbelief. “Albert, I…”

Albert cut her off. “Don’t take my kindness for granted.”
With that, Albert started to walk away.
Just then, Albert got a call.
Stella saw Albert take the call and leave in a hurry.
“Elnora!” Albert shouted her name, his voice frantic.
But Elnora had already gotten into the car.
00:08:44
The driver started the engine and pulled away, but barely 30 feet down the road, a massive truck came out of nowhere, speeding right toward Elnora’s car.
Albert rushed toward the scene.
Inside the car, Elnora heard Albert calling her name.
The next second, a deafening crash rang out right by her ear.
Her car was knocked over, rolling once across the ground.
Elnora felt dizzy and lightheaded. Just before she lost consciousness, she saw a worried, handsome face appear before her eyes.
Soon, the sticky warmth of blood blurred her vision.
Elnora slowly closed her eyes.
The sudden chaos at the scene was loud enough for everyone to hear.
The classmates inside immediately rushed out, following the commotion.
When they saw the wreck, everyone cried out in shock.
Albert was frantically trying to force open the twisted car door with his bare hands, desperate to get Elnora
out.
Kailee quickly grabbed her phone to call the police, then called everyone over to help.
With lives at stake, some of the stronger male students rushed over to assist.
In no time, Elnora and the driver were rescued from the car.
The truck driver was also restrained by the crowd.
Stella stood a little ways off, watching Albert panic like never before, and her heart hit rock bottom.
In all her memories, she’d never seen Albert so out of control, so desperate.
‘If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t be this panicked,’ Stella thought.
She just stood there, tears slipping down her cheeks without a sound.

She knew it for sure now. Her chances with Albert were gone for good.
‘But still… Stella thought. ‘Why does it have to end like this? I can’t accept it.’

Stella could only stand there, powerless, watching as Albert gently carried Elnora into the car and drove
away.
Her vision suddenly blurred, darkness closing in, and she collapsed to the ground.
“Stella! Stella, what’s wrong?” Everyone scrambled in confusion, trying to help her.
At the hospital, Elnora woke up to find her head wrapped in bandages.
She opened her eyes, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over her. It took her a while to steady herself.
Albert leaned in as soon as Elnora opened her eyes, his voice gentle with concern. “Hey, you’re awake. Is your head hurting?”
Elnora slowly raised her hand.
Albert instinctively reached out and held her hand in his.
“It’s alright. I’m right here,” he reassured her softly. “I’ve already got people looking into the car accident. Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything.”
Elnora didn’t say a word, her gaze falling on Albert’s hand, which was gripping hers tightly.
Albert followed her gaze and loosened his grip a little.
“Did I hurt you?” he asked, concern flickering in his eyes.
Elnora shook her head and finally spoke. “I want some water.”
Albert immediately released her hand and poured her some water.
Elnora’s whole body felt sore and swollen-a painful reminder of the crash. She could tell some areas were injured.
She shifted slightly in bed.
Albert quickly turned and placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from moving.
“The doctor said you’ve got soft tissue injuries all over. You need to take it easy and focus on resting,” he said.
Elnora heard him and stayed still.
Albert adjusted the bed, raising it slightly.
“If lying down feels uncomfortable, I can change the bed’s height for you,” he said gently.
As he spoke, he turned and picked up the cup of water, holding it up to her lips.

Elnora reached out to take the cup herself, but Albert gently kept it out of her grasp.
“I’ll feed you,” he said softly.
Elnora watched his actions, a little dazed, not even thinking to refuse.
As the water touched her lips, she took a few sips without thinking.
With her throat finally soothed, Elnora softly murmured, “Thank you.”
00:08:40
Albert reached out and wiped the water from the corner of her mouth with a tissue, then said casually, “Don’t mention it.”
The easy closeness of his gesture made Elnora freeze up. She stared at his hand in silence, not saying a word.
Albert felt his fingertips brush against her lips. They were so soft that it caught him off guard.
He suddenly remembered what it felt like to kiss her in the elevator that day, and his ears started to burn. The vibe between them instantly got a little tense and awkward.
Albert cleared his throat, shifting the conversation. “Vrufield’s already been notified. Your sister and brother-in-law are coming in from Vrufield. I’ve sent the driver to pick them up.”
Elnora nodded quietly, her voice calm.
“Sorry for the trouble,” she murmured.
Albert said, “We’re married. No need to be so polite with me. Besides, this accident happened because of the Supernova branch situation.”
Elnora looked up at Albert when she heard that.
“So, does that mean it’s settled? Was it the Taylor family who orchestrated the crash?” she asked.
