Chapter 632 A Deep Sense of Helplessness
Chapter 632 A Deep Sense of Helplessness
Albert lay stiff as a board on the hospital bed, not daring to move a muscle.
He carefully turned his head, his gaze settling on Elnora, who sat quietly with her eyes peacefully shut.
Maybe his stare was too intense, because Elnora slowly opened her eyes, glanced at him, and said in a calm voice, “Go to sleep. You have to get up early tomorrow.”
Albert nodded, answering with a smile. “Okay.”
After that, he closed his eyes, following Elnora’s lead.
After a while, Albert opened his eyes again.
He glanced sideways at Elnora beside him. Her breathing was steady, and it was clear she was already asleep.
Maybe it was because of her injury, but her already fair skin looked even paler, with a touch of fragile
weariness.
As she slept, the fierce edge of her stunning beauty softened, making her appear especially gentle.
Albert couldn’t tear his eyes away from her.
His heart had been racing ever since he got into bed.
That night, Albert barely slept at all.
The subtle fragrance from Elnora beside him kept him restless, unable to drift off.
It wasn’t until dawn began to break outside that he finally felt drowsy.
When Elnora woke up, Albert was still lying right beside her.
He was sleeping so deeply that he didn’t even notice when the doctor came in to make their rounds.
His head was nestled against Elnora’s shoulder, as if he was snuggling up to her.
Elnora didn’t make a sound to disturb him. She just lay there, bored, staring up at the ceiling.
She had no idea how much time had passed when the door to her hospital room was pushed open again from the outside.
Reese came in with Kaelin, Benedict, and the others to visit her.
“Elnora…” Reese called out.
But as soon as she spoke, she saw Albert’s head resting on Elnora’s shoulder, fast asleep.
Her voice immediately dropped to a whisper. “This guy. You’re still injured, and he’s snuggling up to you to sleep.”
Her words sounded reproachful, but she couldn’t hide the happiness in her eyes.
Kaelin, Benedict, and the others saw Albert like that and chuckled quietly.
No one ever expected that the former rich man, Albert, could be so soft and attached.
Kaelin quietly took out his phone, snapped a picture, and sent it to the friends’ group chat.
Elnora gently lifted her shoulder, which finally woke Albert up. Realizing he’d been leaning on her all night, he quickly reached over and started rubbing her shoulder gently.
“Does it hurt?” he asked.
Elnora shook her head and gestured for Albert to look ahead.
Albert turned his head and saw Kaelin with his phone out, filming a video of them.
As soon as Kaelin saw Albert wake up, he immediately teased him. “Well, well, whose doting husband is this?”
Benedict chimed in, playing along. “Obviously, that’s Ms. Finley’s man.”
Albert wasn’t bothered by their teasing at all. He just kept massaging Elnora’s shoulder and joked, “Look at

Kaelin and Benedict were speechless.
Albert massaged Elnora’s shoulder for a bit, then pushed the covers aside and hopped out of bed.
Reese took a seat by Elnora’s bed, smiling warmly.
Nothing made Reese happier than seeing things move forward between Elnora and Albert.
Elnora’s willingness to give Albert a chance made Reese’s fondness for her grow even deeper.
Reese and Elnora sat together, chatting quietly.
Meanwhile, Albert was just chatting idly with Kaelin and Benedict.
But the whole time, his eyes kept drifting over to Elnora, worried he might miss it if she needed him.
Kaelin and Benedict caught every little thing Albert did.
They thought he looked just like a teenage boy, all giddy and head over heels for the first time.
Kaelin was genuinely amused by the whole thing.
Benedict could see it as clear as day that Albert had totally fallen for Elnora.
The day Elnora was getting discharged, she encountered Stella in the elevator. Stella was heading to her chemotherapy session.
In just a few days, all the color had vanished from Stella’s face; she seemed incredibly weak, radiating a sense of severe illness.
When she saw Elnora and Albert walk into the elevator together, she bit her lip, her eyes grew red-rimmed, and she instinctively pressed herself into the corner.
The moment Albert spotted Stella, his whole body tensed.
He kept his eyes fixed on Elnora, afraid she might be upset by Stella’s presence.
But Elnora didn’t even glance at Stella, acting as if she was just another stranger in the elevator.
After leaving the elevator, Elnora still didn’t say a word to Stella.
Albert felt completely relieved.
He followed Elnora out of the elevator.
The Campbell family’s driver was waiting right outside the hospital entrance.
As soon as he spotted them, he pulled open the back door for them to get in.
After Elnora got in, she looked back inside the hospital.
Stella had already stepped out of the elevator and was standing in the lobby, her eyes locked onto them.
She stood there quietly, a stark contrast to the rush of people moving all around her.
Elnora gave her a brief glance, then turned away without a second thought.
Albert ducked into the car, noticed Elnora’s gaze drifting past him, and followed her line of sight.
When he saw Stella standing nearby, Albert fell quiet for a while before finally speaking. “Stella’s got leukemia. She’s here for treatment.”
Elnora nodded, murmuring, “Mm,” her face blank, not bothering to ask anything else.
Seeing Elnora like that, Albert had something to say but couldn’t find the words, hesitating for a moment.
After a while, he finally spoke up. “I’m covering her medical bills. Once she’s recovered, I’ll just take it out of her pay.”
Elnora still showed no reaction, as if she was just listening to some random news that had nothing to do with
her.
Albert was suddenly hit with a deep sense of helplessness, afraid that the fragile bond he’d worked so hard to

build with Elnora might be ruined because of all this.
He quickly reached out and took Elnora’s hand, trying to explain himself again.
“Elnora, I swear, I don’t feel anything for her. It’s just pity, that’s all. After all…” Albert said.
“I get it.” Elnora nodded, glancing sideways at Albert, her tone cool and steady.

She added, “Honestly, no matter the reason, I can see why you’d pay for Ms. Taylor’s medical bills.
“Forget all the other stuff, she’s still one of our artists. Covering her treatment just shows our company actually takes care of its people. I understand.”
Elnora’s indifference made something weird and unexplainable stir inside Albert.
He actually wished she’d make a fuss about it.
He even wanted her to give him a real scolding.
That way, he’d know she actually cared about him.
But instead, she was so calm and understanding about it.
It made him feel utterly powerless.
