Chapter 657 Everything’s Just Fine

Albert flashed Kailee a grin. “Ms. Fuller, you’re giving me a hard time. I’ve always remembered what you’ve done for me, and I never forgot your kindness.”

Kailee snorted. “Oh, so you remember my kindness? Then why didn’t you help me out when I asked you just now?

“Stella’s been through so much, and you saw how the Taylor Family treated her. She’s my student, and I can’t stand by and let them ruin her life.”

Albert listened to Kailee, started the car, and drove toward her house.

Seeing Albert stay silent, Kailee spoke up softly, “Albert, help her out if you can.”

Albert said quietly, “Ms. Fuller, I’ve done everything I could. The rest is out of my hands.”

“If I keep getting involved, I might end up hurting her or myself.”

Kailee frowned. “How could helping someone end up hurting yourself?”

Albert replied calmly, “Ms. Fuller, I’m married now.”

Kailee was quiet for a moment before asking, “Does your wife have a problem with it?”

Albert shook his head. “She doesn’t mind.”

Kailee let out a soft sigh. “Albert, is there nothing left between you and Stella? Have you truly stopped caring about her?”

Albert nodded. “It’s gone.

“All those years, I did everything I could to help her.

“But if she can’t pull herself out of it, nothing I do will help.”

Kailee said softly, “But after seeing Stella today, it seems she’s trying to break free.

“She’s always been obsessed with family ties, and it’s only now that she’s starting to see things clearly. Who knows what the future holds…”

“Ms. Fuller, that’s not my concern,” Albert cut her off, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Kailee fell silent for a moment.

Up ahead, the light turned red, and Albert stopped the car.

Kailee hesitated, then said softly, “Albert, if this is about your mom, I can talk to her for you…”

Albert furrowed and said seriously, “Ms. Fuller, I thought I’d made myself clear.

“It’s not about whether I care or not. I want to keep my distance from Stella.

“I want to focus on my life with my wife, and I don’t want these things messing it up.”

Kailee spoke up, “But didn’t you say she…”

Albert replied, “It’s exactly because she doesn’t care about these things that I end up caring so much.

“I want her to care about me, so I need to deal with all these issues first.”

It was the first time Kailee had ever heard Albert talk about something like this in front of her.

She immediately remembered the expression on Albert’s face the day Elnora had that car accident right outside his house.

Kailee had always assumed Albert and Elnora’s marriage was arranged, a decision Reese made on her own.

After all, Elnora was outstanding. Compared to Stella, it made sense that a family like Albert’s would pick someone like Elnora.

But for a marriage to last, it still needed to be built on feelings.

Stella still couldn’t let go of Albert in her heart.

And lately, Albert had been attentive to Stella.

This time, when Stella fell ill, Kailee decided to play matchmaker and set Stella up with Albert.

But she never expected that Albert wasn’t even thinking about that anymore.

“You seem devoted to your wife,” Kailee remarked.

Albert nodded.

“Yes. I want to live an ordinary life with her, like any regular couple.”

Kailee nodded and sighed softly. “Since you’ve made up your mind to focus on your marriage, I’ll leave it at that. I wish you both happiness.”

Albert replied softly, “Thank you.”

On the way back, Kailee was unusually silent.

She felt like she’d let herself down as a teacher today.

Even though she knew Albert was married, she still wanted to help Stella out of pity, hoping to patch things up between her and Albert.

But she hadn’t realized that while she was trying to save Stella, she was hurting someone else in the process.

Kailee let out a soft sigh, her gaze falling on Albert as she said quietly, “From now on, I won’t interfere in your love life anymore.”

She couldn’t stay out of it this time because Stella looked so miserable.

Albert nodded, his voice gentle as he spoke to Kailee. “Ms. Fuller, I appreciate your concern.”

Kailee sighed softly.

“Honestly, I feel bad for Stella.”

Albert didn’t say anything this time.

Stella had plenty of chances to break free from the Taylor Family over the years.

But she never once considered leaving the Taylor Family behind.

No one knew what prompted her change this time, but Albert figured it wouldn’t last.

As soon as the Taylor Family offered Stella even the slightest benefit, Stella would rush back without a second thought.

It was not like this hadn’t happened before.

Belinda was a master at putting on an act.

And Stella was always a sucker for family ties.

“She might be miserable, but this is the road she chose herself,” said Albert.

Stella made her choice, so now she had to live with the consequences.

Kailee didn’t say anything else.

Albert dropped Kailee off at the gate of her courtyard and then drove away.

He made it to the airport just in time and waited for his flight to Frency.

The next morning, Elnora and Elara got up early and headed out to the Campbell Group’s banch factory site in Frency.

By the time they finished up and got back, it was already evening.

Elnora was too tired to even think about going out for dinner, so she asked Elara to order something to the hotel room and get through the night.

Elara nodded.

Once they reached their floor, Elnora was the first to step out of the elevator.

She kept her head down, scrolling through the data the factory manager had just sent to her phone.

From behind, Elara called out, sounding a bit surprised. “Ms. Finley?”

Elnora noticed the surprise in Elara’s voice and turned around. “What’s up?”

Elara looked straight ahead, not saying a word.

Elnora turned and glanced toward the door of her suite.

Albert was sitting on his suitcase, smiling warmly at her.

Elnora was at a loss for words.

Behind her, Elara muttered quietly, “Seriously, this guy is so weird.”

Just yesterday, Albert was making headlines for defending Stella.

And today, he popped up in Frency as if nothing happened.

“Trying to play both sides, huh?” Elara muttered under her breath.

Elnora caught Elara’s comment, and her eyes cooled a bit.

Albert got up from his suitcase and walked over to Elnora. Seeing how worn out she looked, he asked, genuine concern in his voice, “Long day?”

Elnora didn’t bother answering him. She shot a quick look at his suitcase.

“Why are you here?” she asked.

Albert noticed Elnora wasn’t exactly happy to see him, but he tried not to let it bother him and said, “You’ve been here almost a week. I was worried things might not be going well with your work, so I figured I’d come

over and lend a hand.”

Elnora replied coolly, “Everything is going smoothly. Nothing is wrong.”
