Breaking Away from My Mafia Consigliere 3

Breaking Away from My Mafia Consigliere 3

Chapter 3

I pressed a hand to my burning cheek and turned, stunned.

Sophie rolled her wrist, every trace of sweetness gone from her face.

“You heard everything. I’m Elias’s wife now. Still clinging to him like a leech? Pathetic.”

“Do you enjoy being used for free? There are girls like you on every street corner.”

“But you gave away ten years for nothing. You belong in a gutter with the rest of the trash.”

A sharp ringing filled my ears. All I could see was her thin, vicious mouth moving.

I let out a hollow laugh, but she didn’t give me a chance to respond.

She screamed.

Then she tore open the front of her robe and fell backward.

“Samantha.”

The voice came from behind me, cold as ice.

Elias shoved me aside and caught Sophie, pulling her into his arms.

She sobbed uncontrollably, barely able to stand, tears streaming down her face.

“Elías, I’m the other woman. I ruined what you had with Samantha. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t even exist. I’m

disgusting. I’m vile.”

Then she slapped herself twice, hard.

Elias grabbed her wrist. His hand was shaking.

“Who told you that?”

Sophie bit her lip, clutching her clothes. “Please…. don’t ask.”

But when her gaze flicked toward me, she flinched in fear.

‘I’m nobody. I can’t fight people like you. Elias, I’m not good enough for you. Just let me go. I don’t want to end up dead

somewhere.”

His brows drew tight. He stared at me, sharp and suspicious.

“Explain.”

I lowered my hand and showed him my swollen cheek. “Ask her what she said to me.”

“Samantha” Sophie’s voice turned shrill. “Yes, I hit you. Because you threatened to kill my parents. They’re just normal

people If you want revenge, hit me back. Please-just don’t hurt them.”

Rage surged through me. “That’s not true. You’

‘Enough.”

Elias’s voice cut in, cold, disappointed.

“Samantha, I spoiled you too much.”

“You think just because you don’t have parents, I can’t do anything about you?”

Maybe I’d seen this coming. Or maybe I’d gone numb.

I just smiled faintly, eyes burning.

“So what are you going to do to make your wife feel better?”

He walked toward me slowly, took my hand, and slid the ring off my finger-the one he’d made himself when he earned

his first real money.

Then he handed it to his assistant.

“Call the police. My wife’s jewelry has been stolen. We caught the thief red-handed.”

I couldn’t move. My mind was blank.

Elias hadn’t risen to power by being soft. He’d always been ruthless.

Except with me.

He was my weakness. Right or wrong, he always stood by me.

No one in this city dared mess with me.

And now the knife in my chest-was his.

Elias turned the ring on his finger. His cold face blurred through my tears.

‘Samantha, you’ve been too difficult. Go in and reflect on yourself for a few days.”

“It won’t be long. When you come out, I’ll personally put the ring back on your finger.”

I let out a quiet, bitter laugh.

I watched the police walk in.

Watched them cuff me.

Watched him reach for my hand-only for me to pull away.

The sudden emptiness made him frown. He stared at my back, uneasy-like he was about to lose me.

He started after me, while Sophie hooked her arm through his.
