Breaking Away from My Mafia Consigliere 4

Chapter 4

“Elias, thank you for standing up for me. You scared me to death.”

He clicked his tongue affectionately and pinched her cheek. “What reward do you want?”

Sophie smiled, snatched the ring from the assistant, and tossed it into the trash.

His expression shifted.

She immediately pouted, her eyes reddening. “Does it matter?”

She walked toward the trash can. “I’ll find it. Ten years is a long time. Even if she hurt me, I don’t want to make things

hard for you.

Elias wrapped an arm around her waist, completely melted. “Nothing matters more than you. Don’t dirty your hands.”

He handed her his black card. “Buy whatever you want.”

Sophie puffed her cheeks. “I don’t want your money. I love you, not your wallet.”

“Of course. But I want to spend money on my wife. If you don’t, I’ll be upset.”

She finally gave in, reluctantly taking the card.

Three days later, I was led out of the holding cell, dazed and hollow.

They took me straight to a private room at a club.

When I walked in. Elias and Sophie were sharing a grape between their lips.

It fell.

They kissed.

Cheers and whistles exploded around the room.

I didn’t know how long I stood there before Elias noticed me.

His gaze swept over my gaunt face and pale skin. His expression darkened. “What happened? Did someone hurt you in

there?”

Before I could answer, Sophie laughed.

“Samantha’s really good at playing weak to fool men. With your connections, who would dare touch her? That sickly look

probably took a lot of practice.”

Elias started to stand, then sat back down.

He lit a cigarette. Sophie held the lighter.

The smoke blurred his face, leaving only his eyes clear-watching me with thinly veiled impatience.

“Since you’ve had time to think, apologize to Sophie.”

Sophie sat on his lap, dressed in white like an angel. She swirled the strong liquor in her glass.

“I don’t want to make things difficult for you.”

“But you insulted my parents. Anyone would be upset, don’t you think so?”

She tilted her head. “Oh, I forgot something. Your parents abandoned you. You’re not anyone’s child.”

I said nothing.

She set the glass down and smiled. “Apologize.”

I lowered my head. “I’m sorry.”

Sophie shook her head. “That’s not enough. This is 120 proof. Drink it.”

I stared at the bubbling green liquid, then looked at Elias.

Back then, to help him fit into the family. I drank myself into the hospital. My stomach was completely ruined.

ICU. More than once.

He had been terrified. After that, he never let me touch alcohol again.

He knew better than anyone what I looked like lying on an operating table, barely alive.

But the man in front of me just exhaled a lazy ring of smoke, like none of that had ever happened.

‘Peach flavor. Just a drink. You can handle it.”

I had no expectations left.

But my chest still tightened.

I picked up the glass and drank.

The burn tore down my throat into my stomach. My lower abdomen felt heavy, like something was crushing it. I

staggered.

“Samantha can drink so well-why stop at one?”

Sophie pointed at the row of colorful drinks on the table.

My face went cold.

Sophie turned to Elias, pouting. “Elias, she called me a slut and threatened to kill my parents. I’m traumatized. Is it too

much to ask for a little compensation?”

“Of course not. Elias pulled her closer, crushing the cigarette into the ashtray like it was nothing. “Samantha, I want to

help you, but you went too far. Do what Sophie says. Once she’s happy, it’s settled.”

I nodded calmly.

My stomach felt like it was being stabbed. I picked up the whole bottle.

“Why stop at one? Let me make it right.”

When the bottle slipped from my hand, blood splashed onto the floor.

I dropped to my knees.

Sophie stepped back in disgust. “Samantha, it’s just a bottle of fake blood. Do you really have to go this far?”

Elias believed her.

His voice turned impatient. “How long are you going to keep this up? Sophie’s already being fair. This is embarrassing.

Get up.

I didn’t move.

I looked up at him.

A woman nearby screamed.

‘Blood-there’s blood on her pants-oh my God, she-she’s miscarrying-

Our eyes met.

The color drained from Elias’s face.

I gave him the most genuine smile I’d had all night.

“Your child.”

‘I let her take that from me too.”

“Is that enough?”
