“Mia, you used to be so bold.

“You turned your back on everyone and got married. I thought you loved being different. Guess not.”
Mia stayed calm. She put her pen back to the
paper.
“Leo, has anyone ever told you not to mess with a doctor?”
Leo raised an eyebrow, grinning brightly and annoyingly.
“Really?”
He leaned his elbow on the table and wiped the dried blood from his eye with a tissue.
“Aw, you scare me, little girl~”
Mia reminded him coldly, “For your information, I was born a day before you.”
She pushed the prescription toward him, steady but sharp with anger.
“Your medicine’s ready. If you dare take it.”
Leo didn’t even glance at it. He opened the door and handed the paper to Willis outside.
“Get these filled.”
The door closed again.
Ruth must have read the prescription, because her shout came through the wood.
“Oh my God, not that much notoginseng! This is reckless, completely reckless!”
Inside the room, Leo stared straight at Mia and smiled, saying a few more teasing words.
A knock came. “Mr. Ford, your medicine is ready.”
Leo nodded and stood up. His eyes fixed on Mia, and he smiled lightly.
“So I can’t tease you like that… just ’cause you’re a day older? Then how about-”
Leo smiled and stepped around the table.
Before Mia could react, he leaned down and whispered something softly against her ear.

Then Leo straightened his jacket and left amid the crowd.
Mia sat frozen in her seat for a long time.
All she could hear were the words he’d breathed against her ear.
She stood up, her brow tightly furrowed.
What on earth has he been learning in the entertainment industry all these years?
Ruth stormed in once the reporters were gone.

“Mia! You’re gambling with the clinic’s reputation! That dosage of notoginseng-what if it makes him sick?!”
“You’ve gotten way too bold,” she shouted. “What if this blows up into a scandal? I don’t care who’s backing you-you’re fired from Harmony Clinic!
“Harmony Clinic is part of the Cole Group. It’s a respected practice with a long, important history. If you ruin it, I’ll never live this down. You’re leaving today!”
Mia tidied the desk calmly.
“Leo’s injury looks scary, but the internal damage is worse. He has old injuries, weak digestion, and a contusion on his back. He needs a strong dose to break up the blood clot.”
She turned to Ruth. “Holistic medicine needs to progress, not just play it safe. Your prescriptions are too mild. How can patients heal if you don’t use real medicine?
“Dr. Webb, you have a medical license, but all you care about are reviews and profit. You’ve lost your way. You should be the one reflecting.”
Ruth was stunned by Mia’s sudden sharpness.
After a long pause, she snapped out of it and chased after Mia.
“You dare lecture me? I’ve been with the Cole Group for thirty years. I worked my way up from a junior doctor. You think some kid can tell me what to do?”
Ruth was furious. She pulled out her phone. “I’m reporting you right now for reckless prescriptions. You’re done here!”
Mia stayed calm. She just nodded. “Fine. I’ll be waiting.”
Someone called from down the hall, “Mia, you have a visitor.”
Mia put on her white coat and ignored Ruth, who was yelling into her phone.

She went downstairs and saw Ethan standing at the front door in a sharp suit, staring straight at her.
He was still as cold as ever, his lips pressed tight like he never smiled.
In three years of marriage, she’d tried everything to please him, but she never once saw a genuine smile. Even when they separated, his words had been cutting.
Now that her obsession was over, Mia felt only peace.
“Mr. Hale. What is it?”
Ethan looked at Mia.
Her eyes, once bright and full of feeling, were now calm and unreadable.
He had seen every look in those eyes.
The brave silence when she was ignored at the Hale Villa.
The professional focus when she faced difficult patients.
The quiet sadness after he pushed her away.
Even on their quick wedding day, her eyes had been bright with hope.
He had known how she felt about him for a long time-probably since the day they met. He just hadn’t wanted to respond.
But now…
All the emotion was gone. She looked at him like he was a complete stranger.
A sharp pain shot through Ethan’s chest. For a second, he panicked.
But he recovered quickly and spoke coldly, “I want to make you a deal.”
