Chapter 217 Liquid Courage

Tracy had bitten down hard. When Sean pushed her away, she lost her balance and nearly fell.

Sean’s arm shot out, catching her waist and saving her from a fall. Tracy stumbled into his chest.

She struggled, trying to push him away. “Let go of me! Let me go!”

The emotions she had suppressed for days finally erupted. Fueled by alcohol and having cornered the man responsible, she was finally letting it all out.

Ignoring her protests, Sean pulled her forcefully into his arms. “Tracy, you are being very disobedient.”

The sudden embrace made Tracy’s mind go blank, unable to process anything.

Chris watched Sean’s forceful move and smirked. So, the untouchable ice prince could lose control too. How rare..

“Seen enough?” Just as Chris was debating whether to interrupt, Sean’s deep voice rang out.

Before Chris could reply, Sean scooped Tracy up into his arms. “She’s drunk. You drive us home.”

Chris froze for a second. Sean was already walking away. Chris hurried to catch up.

They had just settled into the back seat when Tracy’s phone rang. It was Sam.

Tracy shook her spinning head and slid her finger to answer. “Sorry, my friend came to pick me up, so I’m heading out.”

She saw the tall figure get in beside her and instinctively scrambled toward the opposite car door.

Sam sounded relieved. “As long as you’re okay. You were gone for so long, I was worried.”

After hanging up, Tracy was practically plastered to the car door, desperately trying to keep her distance from Sean.

Sean noticed her small movements. His eyes darkened with a sense of helplessness.

Chris got into the driver’s seat and looked back. “Sean, where are you living now?”

Sean gave him an address.

“You’re living together?” Chris asked, stunned.

He was met with silence.

Right. He overstepped. He shouldn’t have asked.

Tracy was dizzy. The gentle motion of the car soon lulled her to sleep against the window.

Sean took off his jacket and draped it over her. Worried she would hit her head, he gently guided her head onto his shoulder.

Chris glanced in the rearview mirror. Sean was taking advantage of her being asleep to hold her.

He mused to himself: The golden boy of the Johnson family, a man so sought-after that the women chasing him could circle the globe, was acting this cautiously. The old saying was true: no matter who you are, your IQ drops to zero when you’re in love.

At the apartment door, Sean held Tracy steady with one arm while fishing through her bag for the keys with his free hand.

Just then, Tracy woke up and began to struggle. Exasperated, Sean had to put her down.

She immediately squatted down and began to dry-heave. Sean knelt beside her, gently rubbing her back.

Tracy looked up at him. Her hazy eyes suddenly brightened.

In a flash, she shoved him against the wall. He stumbled back, his back hitting the plaster.

She patted his cheek, smiling brightly. “Hey, handsome. You’re really good-looking. Are you a male model? How much for a night?”

Sean’s face went black. A little alcohol, and she was suddenly this bold? Daring to flirt with him?

Before he could react, she stood on her toes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pressed her lips to his.

Her kiss was clumsy and inexperienced, more like she was gnawing on him. It hurt.

She pulled back, instinctively rubbing her own teeth, and pouted. “Is your mouth made of stone? It’s so hard. You hurt me!”

Tracy stood on her toes again, trying to pry his mouth open. Sean, completely exasperated, simply lifted her into his arms and carried her inside.

He set her down on the sofa, but she immediately yanked his arm, pulling him down with her.

They both fell onto the cushions, their lips colliding again.

A jolt of electricity shot through him, stirring an unbearable itch. He cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss.

Sean’s kiss was domineering, possessive and conquering. Their breaths tangled as they kissed, deep and inseparable.

Tracy’s small hand fumbled for his shirt buttons, but she accidentally tore one clean off.

Are his clothes this cheap? It’s like it was just glued on. It ripped right off.

Did he buy this online? $9.99 with free shipping?

A phone rang nearby, pulling Sean back to his senses. He reached for it.

He glanced down at his shirt. The missing button had left it gaping open, revealing his firm chest.

18 A Hazy Night

Weren’t things going so well between him and Julie? Then why was he still messing with her? Did she just look that easy to play? Chandler was fickle, and Sean was the same?

She had actually thought Sean wasn’t that kind of man. But his actions made it impossible not to be suspicious. He was stringing along his childhood sweetheart while simultaneously leading her on, being so good to her that she was falling for him.

And now he’d taken advantage of her being drunk to change her clothes. Despicable!

Turns out, men are all the same.

Today was Trevor’s birthday. He had called two days ago, insisting she come home for the

party.

She didn’t have time to dwell on these messy thoughts. Since she couldn’t sleep anyway, she got up to wash and get ready.

She had just placed breakfast on the table when her phone rang. It was Sean.

She hesitated for a few seconds before answering. Sean’s deep, magnetic voice came through. “You up?”

Tracy rubbed her temples. Her head was still pounding. She answered distractedly, “Yeah.”

“Head still hurt?”

She was silent for a few seconds, then replied with another single word. “Yeah.”

Of course it hurt. She felt top-heavy and awful. She swore she would never drink again.

Sean said, “Good. Maybe next time you’ll remember.”

“Yeah.”

“Are you a robot? You only know how to say ‘yeah”?”

Tracy took a bite of bread, her words slightly muffled. “I’m just learning from you. Isn’t this how you always are?”

The words slipped out before she could think. The moment she said them, she regretted it. It sounded… off.

She rushed to explain, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I just mean, I’m not fully awake yet. My head’s still fuzzy.”

Her mind was a complete mess over the fact that Sean had changed her clothes. She couldn’t think straight about anything.
