Mec 19 The Morning After
Sean’s status was exceptional. He was, by all accounts, perfect. Why would he be interested in her, an orphan with no background? It was baffling.
What on earth had she done last night? This all felt wrong.

She had some strange feelings for Sean, but she wasn’t that desperate, was she? No matter how she looked at it, the possibility seemed low. But Sean was standing right here, saying it. Her mind was a complete mess.
She looked at him, mortified. “Sorry, I was really drunk last night. I blacked out. I don’t remember doing anything. You shouldn’t take it seriously.”
Seeing her reaction, Sean’s lips curved again. She was so easy to tease. Her face was bright red.
He raised his wrist to check his watch, then held out the insulated container in his hand to her. “In vino veritas. I’m taking it very seriously.”
Tracy took it, watching his retreating back with a mix of complicated feelings. She didn’t know what he meant by that, but she didn’t have time to dwell on it.
She had to go back to the Xander family today. She hadn’t wanted to go, but she couldn’t bear to disappoint her grandmother. Although she was on terrible terms with them, they couldn’t exactly eat her alive in front of a house full of guests, could they?
She was also curious to see how Yvonne would try to deal with her after receiving the DNA test. Yvonne was smart enough to figure out who sent it. She was probably on edge. After all, Tracy had torn Yvonne’s pride to shreds at Cloud University, humiliating her in public, and the media fallout was still spreading.
Someone as proud as Yvonne couldn’t possibly sit still. She must be dying to tear Tracy apart.
Xander Family Banquet Hall
It was Trevor’s birthday banquet. The guests were all of Northport’s high-society, along with their wives.
Faye, with Yvonne in a beautiful gown at her side, floated through the crowd, smiling brightly as she accepted compliments.
One of the ladies, a long-time rival of Faye’s, sneered. “I heard that in order to win first place, your daughter dragged her brother to Cloud University to cause a massive scene? And she falsely accused the real winner of cheating, only to be completely humiliated? And then, to avoid apologizing, she faked fainting? Is that true?”
Hearing the lady’s cold mockery, Faye’s expression darkened. How dare she bring that up just
